Just a heads up to anyone who hasn't seen this yet, it will air twice:

Monday, July 5th, @ 10am EST. . . & @ 8pm EST

Catch it if you can! I've not seen it all yet, as I stumbled upon it at midnight last week, but what I saw was truly fantastic!

Thanks. I forgot to catch this the other day when it aired.

I have it saved on my DVR. It was a really good show. So interesting. Lots of things I didn't know. I thought seeing the original concept for Woody was fascinating. Also how John Lasseter left Disney and wound up creating Pixar. That was fate IMHO. Great show.

I caught this the other night when I was flipping channels. Very good informative show. I knew the story but it was fascinating to see it on film. Great group of folks at PIXAR.

Does anyone know if the is the same feature that is on the Wall E extended version DVD?

This show is absolutely fascinating. So good. Will only deepen your appreciation of these amazing artists and computer geniuses.

DVR is all set to record it. Thanks for getting the date and times :)

You're very welcome... I'm excited to get to see the full special too!

Does anyone know if the is the same feature that is on the Wall E extended version DVD?

Yep, it sure is!

An interesting note, the woman that directed this documentary is the granddaughter of Ub Iwerks, who you might know as one of Walt Disney's first animators creating the Mickey Mouse cartoons!

If you want to get an even more in depth look at the history of Pixar and it's key players, I highly recommend the book The Pixar Touch, by David Price. After seeing the documentary, I needed to know more, so I picked this book up from the library. It makes "The Pixar Story" seem like a cliffs notes version in terms of its information.

Leslie Iwerks created this film. She is the granddaughter of Ub Iwerks. If you know your Disney history, no more need to be said. She also made a documentary about Ub called "The Hand Behind the Mouse: The Ub Iwerks Story." Fascinating. It's on TV every so often.

John spoke about how fascinating the home movies in the animation building were. There's even more in Waking Sleeping Beauty, and supposedly, even more in the upcoming DVD extras.

Just thought I'd add a few pointers. Carry on.
