Inspired by another thread regarding Christmas shopping for in-laws...

I have totally HAD IT with Christmas shopping for my MIL. This year, she was "kind" enough to set a $30 limit for our gift giving, and requested a Snuggie and said she would send over a list for the remaining money. :rolleyes1

If this year is anything like the last 10 years I have known MIL, there will be no list.

DH is absolutely no help... all he says is, "Well... wait for her to send over a list!" :headache:

She doesn't like anything that smells... it gives her a headache. So no candles, body wash, lotion...

She doesn't want any candy... she is on a diet. However, she has already requested a LARGE bag of my Christmas cookies.

She doesn't want clothes... she has been wearing the same jeans and black t-shirts for years... No, clothes are out... Waaay too touchy a subject.

What the heck can you buy someone for $15? (And I already purchased the Snuggie...)

I am getting my mom a set of those easy-stack small Rubbermaid containers and a new projection alarm clock.

Is there anywhere your MIL likes to eat, get coffee, etc.? Perhaps a gift card is in order.

Does she enjoy reading? You could purchase a few books for $15.

Fifteen pieces of junk from the dollar store? Only kidding!!!

How about a gift card from, maybe, Target or similar?

I'd go with maybe a gift card for Target or someplace like that, where they sell all kinds of stuff, or possibly a book store if she's a reader. Good luck!

I'm going 6to be the odd one out here and say NOTHING!!! If she wants to play that way I can too and "No Soup for you" ...;)

do what you think you should but for me there is NO way I would play that game...I mean a grown woman insisting on you getting her a snuggie and then send a list for the remaining money????:sad2: really is she 2 again?

But like I said you need to do what is best for your family. Good Luck...:goodvibes

Does MIL have a dog? If so, how about one of those dog snuggies to match hers, wouldn't that be cute? :lmao:

I'm lucky, my MIL is easy to please but I've heard some MIL gift giving horror stories

I do agree with the gift card idea though..

This is what I WANT to do... ugh, so childish.

Like a OP posted... Dollar Store gems! :thumbsup2

Besides, I can't wait to see what crap I get again this year! :santa:

Mine is the same way hates everything you get her too. Plus her birthday is 12/22 so its 2 gifts. I got her a wrap around shawl with pockets from QVC it was about 15.00 but that is probably too similar to the snuggie. One year I got her a gift card for the movies. I got a gift card to Shop Rite (grocery store she shops in) one year too and another a gift card to go to dinner

DVD? CD? Books? Slippers? Gift certificate? Gloves?

Does she have any hobbies? What does she do to pass the time? Does she work? Maybe a travel mug for the car? Emergency escape hammer for the car (LOL)? Fancy key ring?

This sounds like a tough one - but at least you got the Snuggie!! :santa:

LOL! No, she doesn't work... neither does her BF, so she might not have a car soon... :headache:

SLIPPERS!!! That would go with the Snuggie!!!

But, I do like the escape hammer idea... :rolleyes1

I would go with slippers to match the Snuggie. That sounds like a good idea.

I dunno darlin, but I'm gonna go over to that cookie exchange thread and see if you've got recipes there! :thumbsup2

(I do agree with those who have suggested a more "generic" gift card, and you can tell her why when she objects!)

If I had a snuggie I would want to sit and drink tea and either read a good book or watch a movie while wrapped up in it. Therefore, I would suggest some fancy herbal tea bags or loose tea and a book or d.v.d.
