I thought it might be worth offering a counter opinion to the thread that got locked.

I've ridden it many times and never felt the least bit apprehensive. I sometimes get a little nervous on Tower of Terror, Space Mountain, Everest, and Soarin', but have always felt perfectly relaxed on the People Mover. It's my favorite ride, especially at night when Tomorrowland is all lit up.

As an insert, since the other thread got shut down, I discussed the complaint with my father (who is pretty well a genius in physics), and was informed that yes, according to the laws of physics with regards to kinetic energy, it is not only possible, but likely, that that person did get thrown in their seat, if the vehicle was moving at top speed (6.8 mph) and experienced a sudden and abrupt halt. Assuming that person weighed 150 lbs, they would have had a kinetic force of 231 foot pounds, definitely enough to move them across the seat. So I'll extend my apologies to that poster.

I'm guessing it was moved due to the direction the other thread went and the fact that the OP was offended?

Oh, I'm sure it was. But, you had dozens of people enjoying the other thread, and one that was claiming to be offended (though I'm not sure the thread was serious to begin with). I don't think a thread should be moved just because someone gets their feelings hurt, especially on such a subject matter. There was no name calling, just a bunch of people having some silly fun.

A lot of threads have worse, but posters don't complain, so they stay on the board.

Yeah I was surprised it got shut down. There's been far worse left open! And even that person that called the OP a troll, wasn't doing so to be mean, just stating that at that time, it appeared as though it may have been a "troll" post, since it didn't seem possible, and then they just vanished.

Most people who know the most basic laws of physics would have known the OP was telling the truth.

Clarification. What the OP said was POSSIBLE, but not necessarily the truth. The conclusion was a bit of an overreaction. Any moving object that stops suddenly is temporarily 'unsafe'. A car, a riding lawn mower, a moving sidewalk at the airport, all will cause momentary chaos if they stop suddenly. But, to blatantly call the ride unsafe because it stops once in my opinion is an overreaction.

I will 100 percent agree with you. If we use the op statement in the locked thread and the physics on this one, everyone (well above certain weights) on the peoplemover should have been "thrown" into the seat in front of them not just the op. Emergency workers should have been busy!
