We had been tracking the weather forecast for days before our holiday (as you do!) but couldn't believe it because it just kept getting better. By the time we left, the forecast was for 4 days of constant sunshine in 25 degs. And that is exactly what we got. EVERYTHING seems better in the sun. When the sun is unexpected - this is April for goodness sake, we half expected snow - then every minute feels like a bonus. It really made our holiday.....which went like this.........

Monday 18 April

We reached St Pancras without incident - if anything the tube seemed quieter today than normal. We settled into our seats on the Eurostar and all was well until after Ashford. Lots more people got on than we had seats for in our carriage. In the end one chap near me stood up and called everyone to attention and said we all needed to check our seats as lots of people were in the wrong place. A horrible feeling was creeping over me by this stage so I asked him what carriage this was, he said 5. Ulp, we were supposed to be in 4. Dtr was mortified as we gathered our stuff up and went off to our rightful carriage, but what the heck - we got it wrong, we put it right. She'll laugh about it in time - about ten years!

I heard an unusual conversation behind me - I know not everybody plans as much as we Disers, but this woman was talking to her child (as she read through her check in papers) and saying things like "oh they’ve got a Sleeping Beauty castle, we'll have to go there" and "There’s a Studio Park too apparently" and " there’s a Buzz Light years ride. She had obviously booked the holiday without knowing ANYTHING about the place. How laid back is that? :scared1:

Later on in the journey an announcement came over that they needed a nurse or doctor in carriage 2. When we got to Marne La Vallee there was an ambulance waiting. Obviously I don't know if it was for the same person, but I did wonder if someone's holiday had got off to the worst start.

We decided that after buying water, we would go straight to the hotel.

It was just gone 2 and our room was ready. We were at the very top on the 5th floor.

After quickly unpacking, Dtr decided she would like a swim so we went down to the pool. It was very small and quite full so she decided to skip that and we went down to the lake for a walk instead. It was a glorious day now. Warm and very sunny. After a little relax in the sun we went back to our room for half an hour’s shut eye. We caught the shuttle in to Disney Village and went for our meal at Annette's. The timing was great as the parade was on so the Village was quiet and we were seated straight away.

We had a really tasty meal in here, burgers each and some hash browns to share. I had water and Dtr had a shake. With shareholders discount it was just €37.14.

It was after 6 and we decided to go to the Studios for the last bit of their day. We went first to RnRC and then round to Toy Story Playland. Dtr went on RC Racer while I went on cute little Slinky Dog Zigzag Spin,

then we met up and left the Studios as it was closing.
In the Park we made POTC our first ride and then walked to Indiana for Dtr to go on. We walked through Fantasy land towards IASW and saw the queue was longer than we expected, probably about 15-20 minutes but we decided to wait anyway. As we got off, it was one minute past 9 so we had no time for a last ride. We went out via Fantasy land, which is when I saw that Pinocchio was closed, with fences around it - I hadn't checked the ride closures so that was a surprise.
We went to the Village for a shop browse to allow the worst of the crowd to clear, then caught a shuttle back to the hotel and headed straight for bed.

Hooray for the sunshine! :goodvibes

Can't get over that woman - how can you go on a holiday that you know nothing about?!!! I think I need a lie down after reading that ... but I think I'll go and read Day 2 instead! ;)

Great start! :goodvibes

Have to agree with MumtoBelle, how could anyone go on holiday without having researched it??? I mean, what did she spend the months leading up to her holiday doing!!? :lmao:

Lovely start to your trip and what lovely weather
Wow to not knowing or planning any part of that ladies holiday, My life is my family and disney (well that's what dh tells me anyway:lmao:). off to read next installment now

You know, I have re-considered my earlier comment and I feel the need to add that my DH goes on holiday to DLP in a similar state of ignorance! Whether this is because he is lazy, apathetic or simply knows that I will plan everything and just tell him where to go and what to do, I don't know?! ;)

They have a Sleeping Beauty Castle?? WOW! I must have a look next time :rotfl:

Great start, off to read the next day:thumbsup2

Great start. :thumbsup2
