The one thing I hate about cell phones **update**

is that if that is their only phone (no home phone) than you can't find them in directory assistance!

Growing up my husband had a close friend. He talks about her and how he would love to find her and see how she is doing. We recently moved here to Florida and know she lives over on the East Coast.
His birthday is next week and I so wanted to surprise him by finding her and having her and her family over for dinner. But I can't find a home phone number for her and everyone else has lost touch with her.

Very frustrating!!! Is there a directory assistance for cell phones by any chance??

Is she married? Try googling her/her husband's name.

DO NOT pay money to any company (intelius comes to mind) to find her. I spent mucho money years ago to find a friend and ended up finding her by finding her ex-husband.

Does he know her parents' name/hometown/contact info? If you know her maiden name and the hometown she grew up in you could google it and maybe find a relative. How about a college that she went to? Mutual friends? A class reunion page for her on facebook? (If she graduated in 1985 search for Ford NJ HS Class of 1985.)

Her parents have passed. She has a brother who I did call and leave a message for but no return call. Last time I spoke to him he said he hadn't heard from her in a long time and the number he had wasn't any good anymore.
I've tried Facebook, My space, Linkd. I did find a place that listed relatives of her husband (as much as you can trust those sites) and I did call one of them. Again, had to leave a message so we'll see what happens.

I'm determined to find her!!

Awww, well that's no fun. Hmm... I wonder if you could find the names of friends that they were both once friends with and see if you could pick up a trail from that. Good luck, I think what you're trying to do is super sweet!

Well still no luck on a phone number but I kept seeing the same address over and over. So being the detective I am I checked the real estate tax data and it matched up with the address I kept seeing.
So I went to the post office and mailed off a card to her. It should arrive on Monday. If it's her than hopefully she'll give me a call.
Still gonna try to track down a number though. I'm an impatient soul.

OP - I ran into this problem myself last night at work.

A patient who was in a serious car accident had no land line phone. His cell phone was destroyed in the accident, and he didn't KNOW any of his family's numbers - they were stored in the phone. He truly had no idea. He knew his address, but they had no home phone, so we couldn't contact them.

We finally had to call the police to search for the family. They still hadn't been found when I left several hours later.


OP - I think it's great that you want to find your DH's friend for him. Try classmates.com! If there's a reunion coming up, she might have registered, OR a mutual friend from their class might know how to get in touch with her. Or maybe she'll respond to your letter.

Well, the letter paid off! It was her. She called me this afternoon. We talked for a long time and she's excited to see my husband again. Her and her husband are going to try to make it over this weekend. Unfortunately they live on the east coast of Florida and we are on the west.

I'm not going to tell him though.
