The often-missed things in the parks

Years ago, I had a whole list of little things to find in the parks that most people don't know about. Pull the cord at the well at Indiana Jones, wake up Tink, listen to a phone conversation, look for Pascal etc. I've been out of the loop for a while, and after seeing a video this morning showing a bucket at a well in Germany with pen and paper in it (so you can drop a wish in the well), I got to wondering what else I want to keep my eyes open for on my next trip. Please list things you know about. Thanks!

Nautilus submarine (about 3 inches long) carved into the wood above the side door inside the tree outside Winnie the Pooh. Squid weathervane and vultures above the outside lift hill at 7 Dwarfs. Crocodile and pirate ship weathervanes above the Peter Pan ride. Peter Pan's shadow on the pavement outside the PP entrance (you have to be lucky enough to get there mid afternoon when the sun's at the right angle). Key under the mat just inside the entrance to MuppetVision (if it's still open}.

Interesting. I'll look again when I go on Monday.
Please, and let me know. I’d love it to still be there as a tribute, but I believe Disney removed it because it could be interpreted as a disrespectful joke.

I thought for sure I saw it in December. Was there something else in a net hanging from the ceiling?

Here are a few from MK/MK area…

There’s a tribute window with Walt’s name that faces the castle, at the top of The Plaza restaurant. I remember reading years ago that this was so he could see it from the castle. We know he never got to see WDW completed and I don’t know if this story is true. But the window is there and I love the thought, so it’s true for me. lol.

In Liberty Square, the dark portions of the walkway are symbolic of the open sewage systems of colonial times. Also in Liberty Square, look up at the windows as you walk by and think of Paul Revere…”One if by land, two if by sea.” And of course, the thirteen lanterns in the tree are symbolic of the original thirteen colonies.

I know this technically isn’t in the parks, but if you make it over to Boulder Ridge Villas at the WL (there’s a boat that will bring you there from the MK) my favorite hidden Mickey lives in one of the wooden beams in the lobby area. There’s also a good one high up on the fireplace in the lobby of the WL, fyi. Also at Boulder Ridge, is one of the trains that Walt had in his backyard. He loved trains and was the conductor of this one, as kids could ride on it.

Thought of a few more at MK…

Look up when the lights go off in the stretching room in the Haunted Mansion.

Also, check out the pet cemetery when you exit the Haunted Mansion and look for Mr. Toad. This is a tribute to Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, which was replaced by Pooh sometime in the 1990’s, I believe.
