I adore shrimp and grits. I've only had it once and that was at a great place in Charleston.
Do you remember the name of the restaurant? There are so many good ones here. I haven't had a chance to try them all.

I did something to the ligament in my knee a few months a go. I wanted it to go away but that has not happened so I went to see my BIL yesterday, hoping I could persuade him to give me an anti inflammatory drug and make it better.

I hope you and your knee are feeling better soon. And try the Aleve, it works great for my knees!

Well I hope my Tuesday goes better then my Mon. I should have pulled a garfield, and pulled the covers back over my head, grabbed a teddy bear and gone back to sleep......as garfield says "I don't do Mondays"
Let me tell you a glass of wine (or 3) never tasted so good last night!!

GOOD GRIEF!! I couldn't accomplish that much in a week. How you did it in one day is beyond my comprehension!!!

Oh, I just wanted to share that I am so proud of my cousin! She raised over 10k at her fundraiser!!! :) She did a tricky tray, 50/50, and a loose change jar. It was such a wonderful day for a wonderful cause...a number of CHD charities will benefit. I just wanted to share.

:dance3: :woohoo: Wow that is awesome!! congrats to her!

Well, after spending most of the day in the kitchen yesterday, I now have 15 pints of plum jelly. Unfortunately, I still have about 11 cups of juice in my fridge. I hate to throw it out, so it looks like I may be making more jelly this afternoon. At least I can give them to my neighbors come Christmas time!

Ahem, your WFD friends might buy some from you, even pay for shipping. Ahem, ahem, like me :)

Is it too late to join this party? :)

Artist Point was one of the "musts" from Alex We went there last vac. The service and the food absolutely the best. I think our waiter was Steven very knowledgible about the wines.
I forgot we are going to Boma and Hoop dee doo too.

This is our first time at Artist Point. We also have ADR's at California Grill, Le Cellier and Kona Cafe. I went with some 2 TS credit meals knowing that we would be spending a large portion of time at F&W and was having problems fitting in 6 TS.

AWWW shoots! Our's is on Monday the 22nd!

DARN! :sad1:

Gretchen - If your family loves gravy as much as mine, I always keep packs of the gravy mixes on hand and mix up a batch and throw it in with whatever I'm smothering.:goodvibes

Kathy - have you tried Tony Chachere's brown gravy mix? I buy it in a can. It's really good and the can has several variations for gravies.

Aimee- I cannot speak for anyone else, but I am talking about anything gravy! I'll take brown gravy, chicken gravy, turkey gravy....I love pork gravy, sweet sauces and cream sauces. If I can put it on meat and potatoes or dip my bread in it.....for me that is gravy.

MMM, gravy and bread. Bread, my second food group :cool1:

You guys are going to be seeing some different dishes from me thrown in to the mix in the next weeks. A friend of mine from another forum sent me a HUGE box of foods from New Orleans. Now I have all these different New Orleans things to cook with. I've got red beans and rice, some jambalaya stuff, all kinds of different spices and mustards, beignet mix...she even sent me grits! I think I am going to make a shrimp and grits dish like one that I saw on No Reservations recently.

Cool! It will definitely be interesting to see what you think of our food! Especially after all the neat dishes you make.
Shrimp and grits are yummy!!

THE TRIAL IS OVER!!!! Hooray!!!! DH will be home tomorrow afternoon!!!!! Can you tell I'm excited? Alan just called and told me. I can't wait until the kids get home from school so I can tell them. They will be thrilled!

:yay: :cheer2: Glad to hear this!

We had Liam's Pasta tonight - yum! DH was very concerned about the lack of meat but since he finished off the bowl, I guess it was okay ;) He did think we should throw in italian sausage the next time. Cooking with brie was new for me and successful!

Funny - my DH thought some grilled shrimp or chicken would go great in this pasta!!

Oh yea - dinner!! I'm on my own again tonight and needed to stop at the grocery so I picked up a rotisseire chicken and some green giant veggies.

Do you remember the name of the restaurant? There are so many good ones here. I haven't had a chance to try them all.

Eh, no.. I don't. It was down in the shopping area, that market type place? A block off that. We were there on business and a local made a reservation there for us.

It was delish.

Glynis---Glad to hear that Alan is coming home.....yeah for all of you...the power of prayer!!.............................and while I am "talking" to you.......if you have any extra plum jam/jelly....I would love love love to buy some from you!!!! My great aunt used to make it and took the recipe with her to the grave. PM your address and how much and I will send a check right out.

Lindsey--I hope you had a fun day with your friend!

Nancy--I too say take aleve..Kris has horrible bursitis of his knee and that is what he takes when he has a flare up. I have also been taking it for my wrist issues as well................sooo how far are you in the HP6 book, I mean after a day of rest you must be just a trucking right through it, lol. Rest up my friend you will have plenty of walking to do in 15 days!!

Mermaid--great idea on the whole beef stew meal....kids sure are funny!

I can't keep up with what was said today...I just read it all but I have been up since 5am and I still have to put the last few things in Ross bag for his field trip tomorrow, so my brain is mush......

I will be back in a few hours to post for tomorrow....maybe after a few hours sleep I will be with it, lol...........or not!
Night/Morning all!

Tonight I am making something new. I saw Rachael Ray make it on her talk show. It's double chicken and dumpling stoup. It looked so good, I am going to give it a try. I will post a recipe if it turns out good.

WFD at your house?

ETA: My doctor put me on an iron supplement yesterday to build mine back up. Apparently I am seriously lacking in it, therefore accounting for my lack of energy. The catch is if you drink coffee and tea (black, not green) it will constipate you. Ugh. So I'm sitting here with a cup of green tea, hoping I will be ok this morning.

Lindsey--I hope you had a fun day with your friend!
She's coming Friday :)

I am totally lost again!

We are having pizza meatloaf, mashed taters and a veggie. I never cooked this last night. We went to the local diner.

It worked on my 10 year old. The pot roast he wouldn't touch last night was devoured as beef stew tonight. mwahahahahah:rotfl:

:rotfl2:

Kathy - have you tried Tony Chachere's brown gravy mix? I buy it in a can. It's really good and the can has several variations for gravies.

No I haven't but it's on my list now, thanks!!

Nancy - How are you feeling today?

WFD tonight - Stove-top stuffed chicken rolls, mac n cheese and broccoli!

Have a great day everyone!!

That is great news :thumbsup2

Gretchen, DEFINITELY keep your ADR at Artist Point. You will love it! I have to give you a couple of recommendations. The smoky portobello mushroom soup is TO DIE FOR (if you like mushrooms of course), and the cedar planked salmon is also amazing. Artist Point also has an excellent cheese plate, which we sometimes have instead of a sweet dessert (with wine of course! ;) ). Plus, you can't beat the atmosphere at "The Logger," as we fondly call it!
I actually cancelled our ADR there back in June, we were just so "restauranted out" by then that we just wanted to hang at our resort that night.i'm sorry i missed that mushroom soup though...perhaps we will try and go again in December!

We are going to hang out and she's going to teach me how to mount my Disney pins in a shadow box (I got a ton on my honeymoon and they are just collecting dust).
oh coo..i would love to see pics of the final project! I have my disney pins on a cork board above my desk...they look cute enough, but sparse..i think i will just HAVE to get more in December ;)

:rotfl2:

WFD tonight - Stove-top stuffed chicken rolls, mac n cheese and broccoli!

Have a great day everyone!!

Now that sounds like a comfort foodie dinner..yum! If it wasn't going to be 90 degrees here today perhaps I would cook up something like that..i am thinking salad with grilled portobellas for dinner...its going to be a hot one here! :beach:

Morning again all--

Lindsey--Have fun on FRIDAY, ;)......I said I wasn't with it when I was on here last night, errr this morning, lol!!

Nancy--How is your knee doing this morning? Take it easy my friend!!

Kathy--Is the chicken recipe posted? We love chicken and I am always looking for new recipes.

Lauren--I am lost right along with you, we should start a club!!

Ross is off with his G/T class for his overnight field trip on an island. I helped get the bus packed up and on it's way.

How insane am I.....at 1am I started making popcorn balls for them to take, as I know that they needed extra snacks. There are 24 kids and 32 total with parents and the marine resource workers. So I made 40, I got to bed at 3am, by the time they cooled and I could wrap them up. I was back up at 5:30.
I have a hair appt at 10:30 so I think that I will take a quick nap for an hour.

I have to be at school for 1:30 for a meeting until 2pm, and then.... nothing. I have nowhere to be tonight, and I am pretty sure I do not have to be at school tomorrow. So I am free from 2 this afternoon until 6pm tomorrow night. Ross won't do karate tomorrow either as he won't be back until class has started and he will be beat!
I am hoping that Kris won't have to work to late tonight, and we can go out for a late supper somewhere.

Dinner tonight is...?????????

I'm on an iron supplement as well. I had some problems at first, but as I increased my water intake, it really helped with the constipation. Now, if I don't take my iron, I can get really dizzy. It's scary how dependant I am on it! I used to think I got enough iron from all the dark leafy greens I eat, but it's just not so!

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who's dinner didn't go as planned. I was getting all ready to do the shepherd's pie, when my son and his best friend came into the house just screaming, ripping their shirts off. Apparently, they had disturbed a wasp nest in the woods near our house, and they were both under attack. They both had trapped a couple of wasps inside their shirts, and by the time they got to my house, they were covered in bites/stings. Jacob ended up with 3 on his tummy, 3 on an elbow, and 1 on his head. Poor little Connor got it the worst, 16 bites on his back, and 8 on his tummy! It was a really sad afternoon for those 2 boys. Luckily, there were no reactions to the bites, and Jacob is feeling 100% better this morning.

I had to take some time to get rid of the wasps that they brought home with them inside their shirts, and then get some relief for their pain. Got Connor home, gave Jacob benedryl and tylenol, and by that time, no one wanted shepherd's pie. I gave the kids tomato soup and sandwiches, and zapped a precooked chicken breast for me.

This no coffee is killing me. I can hardly keep my eyes open.

My DDIL tried a very strict diet plan and she was supposed to give up caffeine, She does not drink, quit smoking and gave up anything that tasted good ( it was a truely terrible plan In My Foodlovin, hungry, loves to eat good stuff Opinion) and after not even two days she gave up trying to give it up. She said it was harder than quiting any other habit. Do your best, my friend and good luck :wizard:

Glynis--Oh your poor boys!

My knee is better today, thank you all for thinking of me. I am staying off it as much as I can, and have a neoprene brace that seems to help. I was heading out to the the store for Aleve and remembered that DD has my truck today. The Advil is helping though and she will pick some up for me when she gets home.

My family is liking the eat from the stove thing...I cook they all clean up and do the dishes, so they get off real easy this way. I am not sure what to make tonight, I want to bake though, DH was looking for pastry yesterday and all I had was Oreos.

 Poor guys!!!

Tonight will be, sadly, something fast food. All the recipes I picked out for this week are more labor intensive then I want to do after I work 12 hours and come in at 830 from work. Wednesdays are ALWAYS like that - why do I continue to not plan 1 easy meal each week?

I'll do the usual - call DH when I left church tonight and see what he's craving =)

Tonight we are having leftover meatballs and I have no idea what else. Maybe a rice pilaf, but I just don't know. Kenny is planning on telling the children tonight about their grandfather, so I don't think it really matters what we eat.

DH will be home tonight so we are grilling steaks and will have a salad or veggies as a side.

Kathy - just to clarify - the Tony's gravy mix is a powder, not a liquid. the container is yellow and designed like the seasonings. I'm not sure that what I told you last night was clear?!?

Wendie - you are truly just tiring me out!!

Oh Glynis, how horrible! :scared: I hope both boys are okay today.

Kathy--Is the chicken recipe posted? We love chicken and I am always looking for new recipes.

No, it's not. I'll post it when I get home from work. I'm almost embarrassed to post it, it's plain & easy, but good!!!!!

Girl, I'd be exhausted if I were you. You need to take advantage of tomorrow and rest up!

If I worked those hours, there's no way I could cook. Maybe you could cook something on the weekend that could be turned into leftovers or an easy meal for Wednesdays.
