Tonight we are going to my grandmother's house to have her yummy beef stew. I can't wait!

ETA: Hey Glynis, remember I asked you about making the muffins in a jumbo tin? Well, I did yesterday. They were the size of your fist!!! I had to bake them only 5 minutes longer than called for. They rocked!!

I'm glad that they turned out well! Guess I'll have to dig out my jumbo muffin pans!

Glynis- I made the ice cream sandwich Oreo cake from the kraft foods newsletter and it was really good.

I saw that picture on the website, and it looked really good! I thought about making one for yesterday, but my kids voted on homemade ice cream. DH bought me the Ben and Jerry cookbook for ice cream several years ago, so we picked a recipe from them and tried it out. It tasted pretty good, except my ice cream maker conked out about 10 minutes before the end. I had to a bunch of turning the ice cream maker by hand, and then pray that it would set up in the freezer.

We've got tons of leftovers from our barbecue, so I'm just planning on warming them up tonight. I do think that I'll make the American Flag pizza to go along with it.

Did I mention that while we were at Sonic, my son, Jacob jammed his foot against one of the tables there. His fourth toe swelled up, and this morning it's all black and purple. I'm afraid that he broke it. We've got it all taped up and immobile, and he's sitting with his foot propped up. Going to be a long day, as he would rather be outside exploring with his friends. They don't want to be inside with him. I may break down and make some cookies this afternoon to try to bribe his friends into a movie with him.

Did I mention that while we were at Sonic, my son, Jacob jammed his foot against one of the tables there. His fourth toe swelled up, and this morning it's all black and purple. I'm afraid that he broke it. We've got it all taped up and immobile, and he's sitting with his foot propped up. Going to be a long day, as he would rather be outside exploring with his friends. They don't want to be inside with him. I may break down and make some cookies this afternoon to try to bribe his friends into a movie with him.

Poor Jacob, I hope he's up and around soon. It would be sweet of you to bribe the kids with cookies!!!

Lauren - Speaking of kids going on field trips, Kyle is leaving Saturday night for a WEEK!!!!!!! He's going with his Young Life Youth Group to Sharptop Cove in Jasper, GA. I was a little hesitant when he first mentioned it months ago, but I've done some research and it's a top-notch facility and his group leaders are awesome people, so he should have a blast. I googled sharptop cove today and it looks incredible!

Mom21 ~ I'm sorry about your living arrangements. Your EX has a lot of nerve saying your chicken is dry. He should just be grateful that you let him eat some of it. I hope things get better for you soon.

Tonight I'm having some rotessierie chicken leftover in the fridge and some leftover ranch potato salad.

Plus I told DH to drive through Taco Bell on his way home at 930 =) Bean burritos sound yummy. The chicken and potatos will hold me until then HAHAHA!

Thanks everyone for the support. It is so tough right now. Things will be so much easier once we can move out.

Dinner was easy tonight. DD wanted ravioli. I made her eat a salad while I cooked the ravioli (gotta get something green in her some way!!). Boiled them, heated up some sauce and voila.....quick dinner. She had a sugar free popsicle afterwards. I think she will want some popcorn while we watch tv tonight. Easy for me. I feel guilty. I think I will cook tomorrow.

No dinner for me I had a big lunch. Our power just came back on after being off since 1:30. I was forced to go shopping after work to stay cool . I would if I could bill the power company?

I used to be the same way when Kyle went on any kind of field trip, it's perfectly normal. I'm sure he'll be fine and he'll surely have a great time!!!!!

Imagine when I tried to call him yesterday (I gave him my cell for the day) and he didn't answer !!!! He finally did, it was very loud and he didn't hear the phone.

He loved the game...their were only 2 boys from his class that went but it seemed A bonded with with his councelor also named Andrew...they ate all day!!!

Me too. Lauren, he will be fine, he'll have a great time. Not so easy on Mom, I'm afraid!

Wait until the extended class trips start and the kids do not want you chaperoning. Not fair at all.you go on all the lousy hot dusty boring class trips and finally a trip to England . They draw straws, parents who have never gone on the trips to the courthouse, the legislative buildings and the museum sign up get picked and get to go.

Yeah, that gets me. The parents that do nothing all year...not even send back a note, get to go on the good trips like you said...its frustrating.

You are most welcome! I'm glad it was a hit! I made it for yesterday, too, and instead of ranch dressing, I used ranch with bacon dressing. Then I added more bacon, and cheese! Yummo!!!

I made the famous recipe too for the 4th. Along with the NY Style Red Onions, Cupcakes and a new recipe for me Grilled Buffalo Wings...the sauce was really good.

Does anyone want the recipe or is one posted already?

Do you guys freeze bread? I always winding up feeding it to the birds when it starts getting funky and when I freeze it gets mushy-like. Are there any tips that you guys have? TIA

Lauren, I've never frozen bread so I have no clue at all. Glad A had a good (and safe) time yesterday.

Tonight's dinner is going to be Pad Thai for DH. I'm eating the leftover BBQ chicken - just not in the mood for fishy today. I've been in a funk which is why I haven't posted very much. I know it is hormonal, but I'm not really sure what to do. I think I am really beginning menopause, but I have been on the pill for almost a year. Isn't the pill supposed to help with the mood swings? Anyway, enough depressing stuff from me. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

I never freeze it. I have an aversion because my Mom used to head to the A&P stock up on it on Saturday night and freeze it. The stores were closed on Sunday then, so they marked their brand products down. I don't think we ever got fresh bread the entire time they did this, and if I hear "Double Bagged" I still have flash backs! She did pick up treats that we would not have had though, so I guess there was some good to it, but I promised myself not to do it to my family. I'm sure that the freezers and the bags are so much better now, but I just can't do it.


I have got to stop posting dinner until I actually cook it. DD had errands and I ran errands with DH so we stopped and picked up giant grinders. Yumm!

I don't know what is happening tonight yet.

I am feeling a little better today, thanks. I still have the cold, but it seems to be getting a bit better. I took a sick day anyway! My sick time is maxed out so I figured what the heck, why not. Plus, I have leather lungs and sometimes my colds have a tendency to develop into bronchitis or worse, pneumonia, so I figured staying home and resting was the best choice.

Last night I ended up making paninis with chicken, tomato, bacon, sweet onion, and montery jack cheese. No picture, sandwiches don't really photgraph well.

Not sure WFD yet, but we will probably eat early since DH is working from home today. I swear that had nothing to do with my decision to stay home!
