The ranch potato salad was a huge hit! Lots of comments about it and requests for the recipe =)

Thanks, Glynis, for sharing it!

Just dropping by to wish you all a happy July 4th.

We had hamburgers, pasta salad, fresh corn on the cob and strawberry shortcake.

I haven't posted in a while. Just haven't felt like cooking, but I am back. I am recently divorced, but still have to live with ex until the house sells:headache: . I Should be a nice night for dd and me.:thumbsup2

 I hope that you have this resolved soon. In the meantime, you are right, cook for your DD. It has helped some of us get through some tough times.

I made Sangria (isn't that a food group??:rotfl: )

:thumbsup2

Dinner was lobster rolls:

and rare tuna for me (I can't eat lobster since the Great Lobster Debacle of 1979):

and potato salad, and tomato-mozzarella-basil salad, and crusty bread with olive oil.

It looks like it is going to rain out the fireworks here!

Your food always looks like it should be in a cook book.

Wow, coming from the Queen, I'm flattered! :)

:lmao:

I got a lot of compliments on the potato salad as well. Glynis, it was a hit!

Glynis- after I finally made something Holiday specific..................I forgot it home. I tried to guilt my kids into going for it but got a big fat NO. :guilty: Oh well, I told them it was pretty :thumbsup2

We got rained out for fireworks.

I wish we had - my beagle is howling like a mad woman!! That she is, but this is the most fireworks we've had in a long time and it's next door!:scared1:

I am one of those nerds that doesn't go to the fireworks on July 4 because my dogs get scared and I want to be home with them. We mark our calendar for when the city shoots them off behind us, too, so we can be sure and stay home. They shoot them off in the park behind us so the fireworks are literally over our heads in the backyard.

(they are doing them Saturday night)

Everyone loved Glynis' potato salad. I added scallions (actually Egyptian onions, which are very similar and are growing in mybackyard) and made it with light ranch and cheese and it was delicious. I am going to warm it up later to try it that way.

Well, the sangria was a big hit--so much in fact that when we ran out everyone got upset. we aren't going to make it up for the big community fireworks--dog is going nutso and the kids need to get in bed--that's the bad thing about the holiday in the middle of the week, we all have to get up early tomorrow and get to work!

Very belated Happy 4th to Y'all!
We spent a quiet rainy day at home. We did grill under the patio cover. Just me & Bob, & DD & SIL.. I was just not up to having a big family gathering when I just knew everyone would be inside instead of out in the pool. We did have some yummy food. Salads made with real ceasar dressing but of course, not a true ceasar salad because we had to add the creole tomatoes! Baked sweet or idaho potatoes and marinated grilled rib eyes. And a yummy yummy fruit salad!:lmao: DD grabbed a bunch of fresh watermelon, pineapple, strawberries and some grapes. Sooo we also had sangria made with all the fresh watermelon, pineapple & strawberries we could round up for the fruit salad! Not my usual sangria but turned out quite good!

Tonight we are going to my grandmother's house to have her yummy beef stew. I can't wait!

WFD at your house?

ETA: Hey Glynis, remember I asked you about making the muffins in a jumbo tin? Well, I did yesterday. They were the size of your fist!!! I had to bake them only 5 minutes longer than called for. They rocked!! :thumbsup2

Tonight is probably gonna be sweet and sour chicken and shrimp--the recpie called for extra firm tofu, but wouldn't you know our backwards grocery here only carries Silken tofu.

Lindsey--yummmm, jumbo muffins!

Good morning everyone!

Wendie & Sandy - if you're out there, please check in!!!!!

Leftovers for us tonight!!!

Good Morning All!

Kathy- I laughed when you described your beagle :rotfl:. My niece has a little beagle and he is the cutest thing! I have never seen such a mischief, he is always up to no good but then he just looks so repentant that it's all good.

I have ground turkey thawing out fore the famous pizza muffins. I think leftover potato salad and a salad. Somehow we ended up with way more than our fair share od graduation cake so that is our dessert.

Glynis- I made the ice cream sandwich Oreo cake from the kraft foods newsletter and it was really good.

Nancy - My dog is an old gal who barks like a ferocious monster but is afraid of her own shadow. She's a hoot!:rotfl:

Hi All,

Happy belated 4th! I am quickly checking in to say hi!

We are having left over sauce, meatballs and sausage. I have not decided on pasta, ravioli or manicotti yet. Right now I can't think of food. My stomach is not that great today. Probably a combination of what I ate and drank yesterday and a friend visiting today....

I am a little nervous too. Andrew is taking a trip to see the Yankees today...:scared1: . I signed him up for the Rec trip and then thought of him going to NY without me...he was looking forward to it so I let him go.

I will check in again later...hope all is well!

I used to be the same way when Kyle went on any kind of field trip, it's perfectly normal. I'm sure he'll be fine and he'll surely have a great time!!!!!

Me too. Lauren, he will be fine, he'll have a great time. Not so easy on Mom, I'm afraid!

Wait until the extended class trips start and the kids do not want you chaperoning. Not fair at all.you go on all the lousy hot dusty boring class trips and finally a trip to England :cheer2:. They draw straws, parents who have never gone on the trips to the courthouse, the legislative buildings and the museum sign up get picked and get to go.

I haven't posted in a while. Just haven't felt like cooking, but I am back. I am recently divorced, but still have to live with ex until the house sells:headache: . I realized I still need to make nice meals for dd, so I am cooking again. He ate some of the chicken I made last night in the crockpot and then complained it was dry........:sad2: He is off to the girlfriend's for the weekend so dd and I are having Omaha Steaks Filet Mignon on the grill, Omaha steak au gratin potatoes (she loves these), maybe some corn or green beans. I bought mini cupcakes decorated for the 4th and ice cream at the grocery this morning. So an afternoon in the pool, grilling by the pool, and sitting under the tiki hut tonight watching all the fireworks. Should be a nice night for dd and me.:thumbsup2

I hope that you and your DD had a great night! I'm so sorry that things are tense for you right now. Hopefully the house will sell soon, and that will be gone!

Thanks, Glynis, for sharing it!

You are most welcome! I'm glad it was a hit! I made it for yesterday, too, and instead of ranch dressing, I used ranch with bacon dressing. Then I added more bacon, and cheese! Yummo!!!

Glynis- after I finally made something Holiday specific..................I forgot it home. I tried to guilt my kids into going for it but got a big fat NO. :guilty: Oh well, I told them it was pretty :thumbsup2

Oh no! At least you did it! I didn't get the cupcakes done. My kids were disappointed.......when they finally remembered.......this morning! I don't think they were deprived at all, though. They had blueberry and cherry muffins for breakfast with milk to drink (get it? red white and blue!), then they got to go fishing with their dad. I stayed home and made home made ice cream and potato salad while marinating turkey breasts in soy sauce and Squirt soda pop. After they got home, we went out for a treat (smoothies at Sonic), then home to a barbecue of turkey, corn on the cob, chips, potato salad, root beer floats, brownies and home made ice cream. Nope. I don't think they suffered any at all!
