We just got back from camping and dh got called into work (I'm doing the overtime dance:cool1: doubletime on Sundays!) We have a pizza crust that needs to be made into a pizza, some leftover bbq ribs from last night... leftover boiled red potatoes..... and dd is working and dh won't get home unitl who knows when. I'll make the pizza and ds and I will eat that.

I have to sit and plan this weeks meals. I start my new job tomorrow and will be working 12-4. Wish me luck!!

Loreli

We're all so stuffed, we're not really having dinner tonight. The kids will have some cereal or something, but that's about at glamorous as it gets tonight.
QUOTE]

I think that's what my kids are having tonight. They are still full from the giant strawberry shortcakes my mom gave them. I think Caili's dessert was almost as big as her head. It is very clear where everyone ranks with my mom...Dad and the kids got huge desserts and everyone else barely had any strawberries on their shortcakes.

Have a great week, Glynis!

Today's linner was bbq ribs, fried chicken, potato salad, cole slaw, and corn bread. I only made the chicken, my Mom made everything else. I also have to report that my Mom makes the best fried chicken, and I thought today's batch from me was pretty inferior. My sister might weigh in with the official verdict in a few hours, as I sent some home with the kids for their dinner.

You'll have to wait another day. The kids don't want the chicken. And shh...don't tell my mom, but the kids like my fried chicken better than hers.

Good luck! :thumbsup2

Yum, can you send some crawfish up here please?? I've only been to New Orleans once, DH and I did a Boston-Texas drive in 1993, and we stopped in. Can you believe that 1. I was a vegetarian, and 2. we ate at the HARD ROCK CAFE!!!??? How stupid was that??? I have always thought about all the yummy foods I passed up for a New Orleans Hard Rock cafe veggie burger.

I think another trip down here is in order, we'd love to share our food with ya! But honestly the way you cook, I'd want you to stay with me and cook for me!! The crawfish aren't nearly as good now as they were in the beginning of the season, at least the ones we had yesterday weren't.

Loreli - Good luck!!!!!

Some of the best food I had was out of the "Quarter" I think the little road side restaurant was in St Francisville. I had so many hush puppies that this puppy couldn't even breath ;) They served them up in a basket like we serve rolls around here. :lovestruc

I'm having teriyaki flank steak and a salad. I hope I don't melt grilling

Laura - Just wait, you think the grocery bill is bad now, when the hormones kick in and they go through growth spurts it's like a bottomless pit!

OH, have you got that right! My DH nephew moved in with us when he was 16. He was working in a gym and in school his classes were weight training and swimming, so he was burning off tons of calories. My grocery bill doubled, and I went from one family pack to two! :rotfl2:

Nancy, I woke up DH I was laughing so hard at this. I can see you saying exactly that in front of that board and can see Buddy looking red-faced as you did it.

I hope I haven't left anyone out, but I had to catch up since Tuesday's posts and it was a lot to catch up on. Work was insane :headache: this week and the therapist that was giving me some issues about a month ago quit this week. Thursday was her last day. So between work and DD's therapy situation, I had no time to do anything for myself - this included. Work should be calmer this week and I have the therapy situation settled for the next couple of weeks although I have to find a replacement so I should be able to check in tomorrow and the rest of the week.

I hope everyone's husband and/or father has a great Father's Day.

Gretchen

I hope that it all works out. Keeping you in my thoughts.

I am excited!!! One week from today, I will be getting ready to get my hair done and maybe have a mimosa!!! :)

It's right and gorgeous...Tom won't let me post a pic til after the wedding...:upsidedow

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL THE DADS, GRANDDADS AND MEN THAT ARE WONDERFUL ROLE MODELS FOR THE CHILDREN!!!

We are going to my brothers house for a bbq. I am bringing Glynis famous Ranch Potato Salad and Blueberry dump cake. I just made the cake...it smells wonderful.

Your day is so close now! I'll wait to see your ring, but I am going to sulk :guilty:. Not really, I think it is sweet that he wants this to remain between the two of you for now.

You are bring some of my family favorites to your BBQ. Glynis is a Goddess in this house!

You are so right about Father's Day being about role models. My DH raised my kids, but he has been a positive male role model for my nieces and nephews, a strong steady man who was always there for them all. I know that all of us here on this thread had great meals for the men in our lives.

Good morning everyone! Happy Father's Day!!!

We're leaving for my parent's house this afternoon, so I don't think I'll be making dinner. If we do anything before we leave it will be grilled chicken breasts. Simple but filling.

Have a great time!

We were the legal guardians of his daughter for much of that 10 year while he was away with the Navy..She is the blond in my sig...I raised her from age 2 until she moved out last year...Bobby is transferring to Virginia in Nov, and from then probably on to Iraq within a few months.

What a blessing that you were there to cherish his DD while he was away. I understand that it is becoming a real issue for some families whose children have no one to welcome them.

My dad is coming over for dinner. We're having Rachael Ray's sloppy joes and her potato salad. It doesn't sound like much, but it's a meal he really likes. Dessert is watermelon, cantaloupe, and peaches with a simple syrup and mint leaves.

Have a wonderful day!

Melanie

Melanie, never apologize for your meals. You cook from your heart and make things that please your family. That is what is important. Everyone here knows that my DH favorite supper is a tuna sandwich and some cucumbers! :rotfl2:

It's a Mom thing ;)

If you get her down there, don't let her go! Her meals are 5 star!

Dinner tonight was really good. Grilled Ribeye steaks, grilled garlic and herb chicken, corn on the cob, broccoli, baked potatoes, sauteed vidalia onion and mushrooms. Dessert will be a lemon raspberry cake I bought at Costco and a fruit salad. DSIL did the grilling and the meat was perfect!

A late night check in with y'all,

Gretchen, I've found out nothing is little!

Kathy, My dear dear son in law Josh, "The former Baseball player!" did all of the battering & frying for me!!!! He did a great job! I cooked the beans last night, and DD & I made some brownies today. So we had some real "lowland" cooking & loved it!

On the contractor, we haven't spoken to him over the weekend. I'll let y'all know has soon as we do.

p.s. the brownies are courtesy of one of my N'awlins diser's! Fantastic, I'll post tomorrow!!!

Tonight I am making chili for dinner. I am in need of some comfort food :)

WFD at your house?

Loreli, Good luck today...have fun too! Its always exciting to make a change!!!

I know I need to catch up with you guys...I am a little disgruntled now. I woke up with Poison Ivy. I already made a doctors appointment for some meds. I still have the scars from last year...:sad2: I am blaming Tom for this one. ;) He decides to totally trim my lilac and leave the mess for me to clean up...WTH? Like I don't have enough to do!!! Do men think? He should have just left it until after the wedding.

Anyway, I need to figure out dinner...probably something from omaha...maybe the bnls pork chops, quick on the grill with Sweet Baby Rays...

Have a great day!

Heavens, Lauren :scared1: poison ivy? Can you see it? I mean, can you see it or does your dress cover it? I have luckily never had it, but I understand the itching thing I think, but I don't know how long the rash part lasts. If it is still visible for the wedding pictures, we might have to come up there and string him up. And as for your question - no, they don't think. Hope your Dr. is able to help.

Ugh! I would be so upset. Hopefully, your doctor can give you something that will help it heal faster. And I agree with Gretchen, no, men don't think...especially about things like wedding pictures, makeup, hair...a lot of things we women spend a lot of time thinking about.

WFD tonight is leftovers. I have a refrigerator full of them so I have a choice of fried chicken, sausage pizza or chicken pot pie.

I just put some ribs in the crock pot and I will make some potatoes when I get home. My old job was 9-1 and this job is 12-4... I've been doing housework this morning and trying to get the house decent looking so I can leave it guilt free. Of course my dh scheduled the guy to come clean the furnace today- they just called and said "Chris will be there in about a half hour". Great, the chatty guy. I'll have to go upstairs and stay there.

Lauren - I'm going to ask the same as Gretchen - Can you see it, will the dress hide it? I've never had it so I have no advice to offer you. I agree with the others - men don't think, at least not with their brains!:sad2: PLEASE let us know how you are sweetie!

Tonight will be white beans & rice, smoked sausage & a creole tomato salad.

I have to tell y'all Jenny's Spinach Bruschetta ROCKS!!!!!!! It is excellent. Could have made a meal out of it alone. I have enough left over to make more this week!!!!!!!

yay! I'm glad you liked it :)
Dinner hear to night is grilled tuna with a mango salsa and something green.. I have no clue what yet

Last night, we went out for seafood for Dad's day. Dad wanted lobster ;) I had a big bowl of lobster bisque soup and a crab cake. Others had crab legs, rock lobster tail, shrimp pasta, stuffed shrimp, etc. I tasted it all and it was all good.

AND I baked that inside out german chocolate cake! My sister is here visiting and she's the baker so we did it together. I'll post pics later.

Tonight we're having beef burritos - beef done in the crockpot.

Oh Lauren, that is not good! Please let us know what teh Dr says.

I am going to pick up the ingredients for this. We like appetizers before dinner on the weekends, and this is one my bunch will like.

You go Girl!

Tonight we are going to have grilled chicken breast, salad and what ever leftovers I have in the fridge to go with it.

Lauren argh on the poison ivy!! Bathing in oatmeal helps, if you are itchy. I think I've read that you can get a shot from the doctor to help too? For some reason I am thinking a cortisone shot, but don't quote me on that!!

Tonight I am making fajitas with queso fundudo, sauteed peppers and onions, and a big bowl of guacamole.

I am lucky that it is on my forearms so you can't see it. I have a doctors appointment at 1:30 so hopefully they can give me something so it does not spread. If it spreads, thank God for Photoshop!!!

I just had a bridezilla moment with the hall. I never received my Banquet Event Order that I have been requesting and today I got an estimated bill and things were missing!!!! :scared1: I called my event coordinator, who is leaving and only working part time, left a message then called the banquet mananger, left a message and the general manager...I was very angry. Any way, I got the BEO and hopefully I can get everything correct asap. UGH!!!!

Lauren--Oh no on the poison ivy and the hall mix-up. Here's some PD that your day gets better from here on:wizard:
