I remember the first time I made pie, I was on the WDWCP and I was making a bunch of friends Easter dinner...I attempted an apple pie. I even used a recipe that was given to me by the baker at The Gourmet Pantry, where I worked, and it came out like soup!!! :confused3 We sat around the table and ate it from the pie plate with spoons. It tasted really good.

My mom is a good pie baker, but one time she made a cherry pie, and she forgot to put the flour into the filling. She cut into it, and the filling all came out...she was really upset, especially since she was entertaining. We ate it anyway.

I can't wait to see pictures of your dress!

Tonight we're having one of the few dishes I don't use a recipe for, it's a family fave - pork, peppers, onions & pasta. Sides will be peas and garlic bread!

I think I am having something similar. It is dreary here today, so right now, unless the weather improves, I am making Italian sausages, peppers, onions and pasta. I can't copy the garlic bread, though. I would never hear the end of the complaints.

If I start blaming my oven I am in big trouble. When we were planning the kitchen I just had to have the GE Trivection/Convection double wall ovens. I have used the speed cook maybe twice, and ha was on appetizers. If I try using that bad boy as an excuse, I am going to be freezer fodder.

:rotfl2:

I love the food porn! I need to take pictures of our meals so I can contribute some =)

This week, however, there is nothing worth contributing at my house! Tonight my dinner for 1 was good ol' tuna casserole. DH hates the stuff so I make a big dish of it anytime he's out of town. It's something my mom made frequently growing up so it's pure comfort food. It was yummy - to me - but most people gag at it. ;)

Tuna Cassserole was what we ate when I was a kid... I knew mom was out of money when she brought that out..I still really don't like it due to the association..Ed an the kds LOVE it though,so I make it for them.

I love tuna casserole!!! I make mine differently from my mom, though. I use Miracle Whip with cream of mushroom soup. I also add hard boiled eggs, and put chopped tomatoes on the top during the last 5 minutes of baking. Yummo!

Wow! Dinner, what is that? I have not seen one of those in a long time.... :rotfl: Unless you count the PB&J (or Fluff!!) I cant wait for dinner tonight!!!

He wants you to bring Kady to the farm! Is he CRAZY!!!:scared:

Can I just say how darling your Kady is? She looks just like a princess. I can definitely understand Grandpa wanting her around him as much as possible!

Good Morning all!

Tonight is Chicken Francese, linguine and broccoli for Tom's bday! He has finally caught up to me...I am the older woman!!! :)

I am picking up my dress today!!! :cool1:

I am not a great baker...I usually blame the oven!!!

I'm the older woman, too!!! DH loves it, because for a month and a half, I'm 2 years older than he is. Oh well, I figure it'll even out in the end!

Pies give me trouble too. Usually my trouble is with the pie crust! I just can't make them light and flaky. I've tried and tried, and finally I decided just to go with the refrigerated pie crusts that I only have to roll into my own pie plates. They're pretty cheap, and taste good. I figure my time has to be worth at least 1.79, right? Filling doesn't give me much trouble. But then, I usually stay away from fruit fillings. Lately, my family have been wanting pumpkin or my Derby pie. Those and my pecan are my "go to" pie recipes. One of these days, I may break down and try my hand at fruit. We'll see. I have done cherry pies that turned out well. Hmmm, there's an idea for dessert this week!

Dinner tonight will be the baked chicken reubens from this thread! I've been craving them for weeks, and I just decided to heck with what the kids want, I'm filling my craving! I'll put the sauerkraut on half the chicken, and only the cheese and dressing on the part the kids will eat. I can't wait!!! Didn't do the corn on the cob last night, so maybe we'll do that for our veggie tonight.

I'll try to remember to take a picture, but I have a real scatterbrain. I love looking at all the pictures here, though. Jenny's stromboli turned out so beautifully, it's making me want to try it tomorrow night!!!

Morning Y'all,

I'm sort of freaking out this morning. The contractor (that is going to redo our bathroom, if & when state approval EVER comes in on that), can come today to look at some changes I want to make to my kitchen.

We been so focused on the bathroom though, I'm not positive about what I want to have done! We redid it 5/6 years ago & of course some mistakes were made. Like, they didn't tell us new refrigerators exterior size is much bigger than the old ones. So our expensive counter depth fridge can't be pushed back all the way, cus then the freezer door won't open all the way. So either a wall or cabinets will have to be moved or cut. I had put in those Corian type counters & backsplash, but the backsplash that came in was thicker by 1/4 inch that what I ordered. Well I thought no big deal, I want this kitchen finished, go ahead & put it in. But then they put the little 3-4 inch piece in front of that without telling me. Okay, didn't look bad & the kitchen is finished, right. Well because of that the backsplash is right next to the faucet & no matter how hard I try it stays wet & the caulking get discolored. So I'm gonna change the backsplash with tiles. But now do I get rid of the boxing on top of the cabinets? And I don't like the stove top, but haven't spent the time looking into that either!

Sorry for babbling like an idiot! Haven't caught up with the chat, have to clean the kitchen! But first, here's a pic of last night's dinner. Pictures don't look great but it was yummy.

A twist on my Polynesian Porkchops or a twist on Kathy's Bahama Mama's,(adding chili sauce to mine or barbecue sauce to Kathy's.) I'll post the recipe later if anyone wants it. I also made up the dressing for the asian slaw & fixed chinese style fried rice. And even better, I made Mai Tai's to go with it.

With the Mai Tai!

I'm going to be boring for dinner tonight..Lipton Onion soup burgers with something green.
I have 25 days until my Disney Trip and my ADR's are set
Spoodles (first time)
San Angel
California Grill
50's Pt cafe ( first time)
Narcoossees(Just Ed and I, yay!)
Wolfgang Puck Cafe (first time)
raglan Road (first Time)
Portobello Yacht Club (first time)

I think we will use a wheelchair for the whole trip.. Ed's leg is very painful and it swells very quickly.. He still gets a bit out of breath and his heart starts racing after a while too.. He's not happy about the wheelchair, but if he is going to enjoy this trip he needs to be in as little pain as possible.

Jenny, the WC probably would be a good idea for Ed. If you have need any tips on doing Disney with a wc, let me know. Also the disabilities page on here is a wealth of knowledge!

Your ADR's sound great! I booked just California Grill & Artist's Point for our upcoming Food & Wine trip, (keeping things open for F&W events.) I been reading lots of good things on Raglan Road & have to get that one in sometime soon.

The Ca Grill is a must for us... I have to have the flatbreads, sushi and bananas and butterscotch dessert. My son has never been, in fact this will be his first trip to a really fancy restaurant.

Jenny let me know how San Angel is? I have often wondered if the food is good.

Shovan I really like Artist Point. I almost dieing to know the events for the Food and Wine festival.

We had a good meal there once.. I know it gets some bad reviews, but I liked it.. I lived in San Diego for 16 years it it did compare to a lot of the Mexican food there... Not quite as good, but still pretty good.. I think that if you are used to Tex-Mex and not mexican than San Angel may throw you for a loop

I am not allowed to touch his creations, he builds them himself, says I make him nervous cutting tomatoes to fit the roll, spreading mayo to reach all corners, use a plate.

Anyway I am going to try to cook something tonight, but they are all going to be at the farm and DH wants me to show up with Kady ! I better make sure she has her work boots on..............

:rotfl:

Sounds like Buddy and Kady are going to have lots of fun!

In the end, yes, it does even itself out!!! :)

I use the refridgerated crusts too...not like Mom's but good enough.

This is one of my favs. I also do not put sauerkraut on Andrew's and I add caraway seeds to mine! You guys have me craving tuna casserole, now this!!!

Great pic! :thumbsup2 You know what even makes it better? You probably guessed...the Mai Tai.

I am cracking open a bottle of Rosa tonight for BC's bday (that is Andrew's nick name for Tom...Big Cheese. Andrew is LT...little Tom...he acts just like him, its scary).

I cannot be much help with the kitchen. I am an idiot with stuff like that...I need visuals. Good luck!

Ohhhh, are you going to do a dining review? We are going to CG and Ragland for the first time on out next trip.

I am sure Ed is not happy about the wc but he will be happy when the time comes. ;)

Hersey, ME TOO! The wait is killing me.;) You know I don't think I have heard one bad thing about Artist Point!

I'll do a food review and make sure I get some good food porn

SHERYL, I forgot to ask...yes, the lush forgot to ask for the drink recipe!!! I am still needing to try your limoncello cosmo...maybe on the honeymoon.

Nancy or anyone else...ever been to Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods? If so, any tips? TIA!

Hi ya'll!

How many times on here have I said I'm finally going to get my toaster oven and not gotten it? Too many I know! Well...........it's here! I went and got one yesterday! And it's a good thing the "lifestyle change" (read diet) hadn't started yet- cause I had to bake brownies to try the darned thing out!:lmao:

It works and it's a big ole fancy-schmancy thing from GE. With bake, broil, toast, rotisserie and 2 shelves and a door that opens to the side instead of down- that's what sold me! I found it at Walmart and it was $20 less than the one I wanted from Target so I got a 2 burner cooktop too!

No more electric skillet!:cool1: Only spent $10 more dollars than I'd planned- no, I can't come home with extra money- not possible.:sad2: But now I feel like I have a whole kitchen....well, except for the dorm size fridge thing.:headache: But I'm working on that.

Just had to share- I'm doing the extra extra happy dance!:dance3:

Sheryl- any word on booking Party for the Senses yet?

Jenny--your ADRs look great! We went to Raglan Rd. for the first time on our last trip and loved it. We were just walking by and noticed there wasn't a wait tosit outside. The food was wonderful, as were the irish beers. Have agreat time!
