I want to stay in the Poly summer 06. One main concern is travel time to the different resorts. I will have a 2 year old and I want to be able to come back to the resort mid-day for a rest if needed and not waste half the day doing it. I realize that getting to MK is quick. It also appears Epcot is quick, too. What about MGM and AK? Is it better to catch a bus from the Poly or go to TTC and then catch a bus? About how much time does it take (approximately)?

In my opinion it is the best overall - of course MK is a breeze - depending on where your room is located either the boat, ferry or monorail will be easy access.

For Epcot we walked to the TTC and then took the monorail (to avoid two monorails and the time transferring)...again a breeze.

All other spots are via bus and like any resort you have your the bus is right there times and the times you have to wait... I will say the Poly bus stop at the other parks is close to the park so that is nice - no walking miles to the end of the bus stops for the Poly bus!

You catch all buses you need from the hotel bus spot - right near the Neverland Club and again conveniently located.

I took my niece and nephew ages 4 & 6 last summer basically by myself - 17 year old daughter was with us but she had her own plans some of the time and I found the Poly to be soooo convenient transportation wise. I highly recommend it.

I am so excited. My husband says he really needs a vacation and told me to make arrangements for Dec. (At first we didn't think we would have the money this year to go) My question is: I don't know if we can swing a stay on the concierge level. We were there Feb. 2004 and probably saved money by eating in the lounge a lot. Does any one have experience from last year and just recently? Did you notice any changes in the food selections? Or any other changes? We will be going Dec. 7th to the 11th. We are so spoiled staying concierge, but I checked and rack rate is way up there. I am hoping for AP rates, but that's not always so. Any information will be appreciated.

We will be there 6-12 -19th in concierge too!! And actually looking at your photo I thought your family looked familiar - wonder if we have seen you there before! I know a whole group of people traveling to concierge there - its going to be busy! And fun!

If you travel the same week each year, you probably have seen us--we typically go this same time period each year--for at least the last nine years or so--if you see us, feel free to approach, we won't bite.

We're so looking forward to our vacation--our kids are happy to be out of school for the summer--a soon to be senior and a sophomore! Good golly, where has the time gone!?

My son is 22 months old and I was wondering if life vests (not the actual vest but the flotation-like swim-bubble- the name is completely not coming to me right now) were available to rent at the Poly pool? Also, if taking the boat to MK, can the stroller just be wheeled on or do you have to take the child out and fold it up? Thankyou!

I'm sure someone else will correct my information if it's not accurate, but it seems a good many of our fellow Polynesian fans are taking a weekend break!

I'm not sure what you are describing when you say a "swim bubble". The marina does make standard life vests available to you. These life vests come in all sizes and are suitable for the little ones, too. It's been many years since my babies needed them, but we used the life vests for a few years and they were great!

You will, most likely, have to remove your child from the stroller to board the boat. Whether you will be required to fold it is another variable--depends on the number of guests boarding with you and the space available. I have seen folks just carry child and stroller onto the craft and park it behind the wheelhouse. If the captain permits you to do that, just be aware the stroller will be in motion without locks engaged! At Disney, I've found that some of the captains follow the rules stringently, others not so much--just luck of the draw. Personally, I would fold the stroller and hold the child--it's more of a safety issue for me.

I am sorry, but for the life of me, I cannot remember what kinds of boats were at the Polynesian. I am having a memory block. I know some boats you can wheel your stroller right onto it because I have done that with the boats at the beach club. As for the swim bubble... I do not think they have them there (I could be wrong). I always bring the blow up floaties that go around the arms for my DD. They pack well and work well too. I hope someone else can be more precise in answering your questions.

I love your farewell to the Polynesian pout photo!! We all know exactly how you feel in that picture. As I am checking in, I always feel bad for the people checking out. And then want to cry when it is my turn to check out of the resort.

You will have to fold the stroller up on the Poly boats. They are the small variety and there is no room for them. The boat has bench seats on the sides and seats facing outward around the inside middle. The only vests at the pool are the standard life vests. They are free to Poly guests. You can always bring your own. DD loves her Barbie lifevest so we always bring it along.

Hi everyone, um, I mean, aloha!

We've been planning our trip to WDW for the last few months. This will be our (DH, DS (4) and I) 4th trip since 2001 and my mom's very first trip!! We will be celebrating her 70th birthday while we're there.

I'm so happy that my mom will be with us. A little background information: my father and brother both died within a year and one week of each other. My father was ill for many years and my brother for about 2 years before their deaths. My mother was their primary caretaker and had no time for herself, vacations, etc. Since their death she's been so sad and grief-stricken. It has really taken a toll on her. So...DH and I decided she needed to go to the happiest place on earth and experience the magic with DS (4). We started planning and decided her birthday (end of September) would be a wonderful time to go.

We booked WL but then I started thinking how great it would be to stay in a monorail resort so she would have an easier time getting back to the room if she so desired (we'll spend most of our time at MK and EPCOT) so we moved to the Poly GV!!! We booked the MYW package with free dining yesterday.

I was beginning my research on the Poly and I was so happy to see this thread. I'm also looking forward to seeing Tikiman's website again. I viewed it once a long time ago while dreaming of WDW. Now the planning can begin

Adding to what has already been answered (that the type of vest you describe is not available to rent there), remember that the Polynesian Resort has a great kids water play area that your son might love.

Keep that in mind, as well as the wonderful age-appropriate sand-related activities available on the resort's beach (and you can buy a sand bucket and shovel/sand tools in the Great Ceremonial House when you're there), just in case the volcano pool or even the resort's quiet pool is a bit overwhelming for him.
