I don't have any photos of the true 'inside' of the club past Wendy's window, but here's a photo I took of my DD8 when she stayed there this past Thursday.

My daughter was quite impatient to get into the club which is why her expression is so 'strained'. :lmao:

 That's an adorable picture!! Don't you just love kids?!!! No pretense at all - "here's what I'm feeling!!" :rotfl:

Please don't laugh, but how are the climate controls set up in the rooms at the Poly? I am one those people who are constantly cold -- my house is set at 73 year round :guilty: Wondering if I need to bring my flannel pjs

We will be staying at the Poly Concierge in December.:yay: Since we made are reservations through Tikiman's travel agent, will the IPO contact us at 180 days out or will I have to contact them? When you request a certain floor in the Hawaii building, do you usually get it? We are also staying at the AKL Concierge Level after the Poly:cheer2: . Will the Poly IPO make ADRs for our whole trip or do we also have to contact the AKL IPO staff about ADRs?

Kathy

What is the best way to get the most out of this show? Is there audience participation etc?

Thanks for your ideas

I snapped these photos when I went to breakfast at the Kona Cafe.

Enjoy!

The climate controls are set by you. You can increase/decrease the temperature in the room. I am always cold so I loved being able to control this. Last year I had the heat up around 75 degrees or so in the room and was lovin' it! :thumbsup2

A request is nothing more then a request, so it's a 50/50 shot that it might or it might not happen. I believe that I have read on these boards that the Polynesian IPO Cast Members will make your ADR's even when you are staying Club Level at the AKL, so hopefully someone can confirm that.

It's amazing what my eye catches. That's a very nice picture but is that a large space heater near a Christmas tree and curtains?

I saw that, too, but I thought it was one of those newer fans. We have one, and it's a lot safer around little fingers!:thumbsup2

You're right, that's exactly what that is. It was particularly humid that day so even with the A/C on this unit helped circulate the air. Definitely not a space heater as it was 80 degrees that day. ;)

I've been reading this thread for hours. Lots of great info, thanks. Now for the question...I have a terrible habit, and since I don't smoke in the house, I would have requested non-smoking had there been any...I'm glad the rooms won't stink. However, I would like to know if anyone could suggest a room or a longhouse where if we had a patio, I'd be able to walk a few yards in my pj's and have a smoke without disrupting the rest of my family. It becomes a major disruption running up and down floors and hallways when we're trying to get the kids ready, but I know I'd be chomping at the bit if I couldn't get a quick fix. For all people totally against smoking, I'm being respectful so if you would please do the same, I've tried quiting and the family as a whole said they'd rather me be happy. Thanks for any info:lovestruc

I think your idea is not allowed because the location has to be a designated smoking area. I am not sure if there were designated smoking area's by the Longhouses, however I do remember seeing one of those area's by a trash can which is just before the bus section.

sorry for the confusion, I was looking for a room with a patio, near a designated smoking area.

I know when I stayed in the Samoa longhouse this past August, there was a smoking area clearly marked outside. I just checked my resort map and there are smoking areas labeled for each longhouse. I'm not a smoker but I can't see making someone trek all the way across the resort grounds to smoke out in the 'boonies'. :thumbsup2

ETA: When you check in you can also ask the CM for a patio room near a designated smoking area in the longhouse where you're staying. It isn't a guarantee but at least you can let them know your needs.

I agree, instead of trying to figure out what room would be close on your own, ask for exactly what you want: a first floor room close to a designated smoking area. I always request rooms close to things and Disney has always done a good job accomodating me. However, do this when you make your reservation, not when you check in. Your room is assigned long before you check in.

The Poly IPO cast also plans for the WL. AKL has it's own AFAIK (of course I could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time LOL).

Sometimes if you book through a TA, even one who normally books Disney, they don't properly forward your contact info to the IPO offices. It's normally a good idea to shoot IPO an e-mail or give them a call just to check in. The phone number for the Poly IPO is 407-824-2466. :)

Thanks for the info. I'll call the Poly IPO just before the 180 days.

We leave in 17 days and I was wondering if anyone has an idea as to which long house we should request? My inlaws are both in their 70's, and one has a bad knee so long distances aren't good, we'll also have a double stroller with a 3 yr old and a 7 mo old. Any recommednations as to our best request so that we're not too far from anything? It's our first time at the Poly, and we're supposed to have a garden view. Do the have ajoining rooms that we can request also? Thanks

There is a difference between adjoining rooms and connecting rooms. If you want rooms that have a private door between them, you want connecting rooms. Adjoining rooms are just next to each other. There are alot of adjoining rooms, and very few connecting rooms.

I hate walking long distances (just lazy ;) ), so I requested a room near the Great Ceremonial House, and they gave me a first floor room in Niue. It was very close. If you plan on using the walkway to TTC, you might want to request one of the longhouses between the GHC and TTC.

If you have more than one request, you should tell disney which is a priority. For example, they may have two connecting rooms, but they may be far away. This way in a situation where both requests can't be accomodated, they know which one is the most important one to you.
