I will add my $.02 that may be helpful if you are on the DP...Another Question
Hello disers!
My family will be celebrating my brother's 5th birthday in Disney World. It is our first time doing a birthday in Disney and since my brother loved the Poly. when we went there last trip for Lilo and Stich character breakfast we have decided to stay there for a change. Should we order a cake from poly. or as suggested on another thread (thanks a lot) nudge the host at a restraunt about a b-day when we're going in for the slice of cake with candles or tell ahead and maybe get a full cake.
Suggestions, Experiances always apprieciated!
Thanks

I would skip the extra cake and suggest mentioning the birthday. Not sure if you definitely will get a special dessert or not, but you could always ask about replacing the reg. dessert for a b-day dessert.
I've had 2 birthdays there. First was at Ohana and DH gave me a gorgeous cake. The prettiest cake I've ever seen. But, we ended up taking most of it back to the room. (In retrospect, we should have offered slices to guests near us). We could barely fit all the leftovers in the fridge (it had a mousse filling) even cut into several pieces. We thought we would eat it later in our stay. Nope. Way too much food from the DP. The last night we all "forced" ourselves to have one more slice of the delicious cake before throwing away the remains

The next year on my BD we ate at Kona. It was on our ADR that it was my birthday. DH ordered a bottle of champagne rather than another cake. So, although we didn't mention it to the server, she knew it was my BD. We ordered our off the menu DP desserts and when the server came out she had an additional dessert! It was some sort of cream puff and was displayed beautifully. Happy Birthday was on it and maybe my name, but I would have to check pics to be sure of the name. Everyone had a bite of the BD dessert and that was plenty. Defintiely a magical BD dinner w/o an entire extra cake, esp. at the Poly.
