I decided to stay home with Aidan today. He was up the entire night. He slept from 8 pm until 10 pm. DH took him until midnight so I could sleep. He was coughing and choking so I picked him up. He did not go back to sleep until 4 am. I get up at 5 for work. I was going to go and decided not to. I'm taking him back to the doctor in an hour. He must have an ear infection or something. His ears were clear two days ago when I took him. Who knows :confused3 . All I know is I need to sleep and be able to put him down for 5 seconds. He wants to be held constantly. I hate taking days off work. I feel so guilty. My friend/colleague called me this morning. Another teacher started a rumor that I was in a fire. I knew she was crazy but come on! My poor friend was scared half to death. I was amazed that none of the teachers who saw me leaving lesson plans with the baby yesterday afternoon explained things to her. I also found out that they have no sub for me so I have teacher coverages all day. I'm sure everyone is really happy with me today  .

Diskim,
It sounds like you did the right thing in staying home. To heck with everyone else if they are annoyed. They'll get over it. I hope the dr. appt. goes well and Aidan feels better soon.

SL,
Sounds like the party was fun except for the picture mishap. Did you ever end up getting them? The ice was terrible here this morning. We ended up with no school because of it.

Joats,
Good luck with Jace's blood test. I'll say a prayer for him that he is in the clear.

Robin,
Those type of gift cards are the best. I'm sure it will be nice for your DH to go shopping with for clothes.

I am completely unmotivated to do any school-related work. I, too, was hoping for a snow day today so I could get some rest. My kids are kind of rammy. I know they'd rather be at home today, too.

DisKim - You did the right thing by staying at home. None of your colleagues can find fault with the fact that you're taking care of your son. To heck with them if they do! That said, I'm losing my prep today to cover for our sick gym teacher. I get ticked off that I'm the only teacher scheduled for a prep during our seventh period. Any time that period needs to be covered, I'm the only one able to do it. I hope Aidan is feeling better soon, and I hope you get some rest.

SL - Enjoy dinner at your mom's and have fun decorating your cookies. I'm going to try to bake on Sunday. That is after I clean, do laundry, and get my plans for school together. I'm sure my students will be SO interested in working the week before Christmas break.

Alice28 - I'm glad the folks who've adopted your family are spoiling you. You deserve it. I haven't been to Chuck E. Cheese since I babysat for the world's most spoiled child. I'm not planning on letting Jimmy know that place exists.

joats - I hope Jace comes out with a clean bill of health. Good luck with the sippy cup and have fun hosting the holidays! I'm so thankful for my small house when it comes to not hosting stuff.

DisKim- how is Aidan? Is he feeling any better this morning? (afternoon?)What a JERK about that teacher who said you had a fire- I could think of much more appropriate words than 'jerk' but I'd probably get banned from the boards. And don't feel guilty about other teachers having to cover for you- it's not like you haven't done it for them, right?

lissawynn- another week of school? Today is my son's last day until Jan 4th. I have crammed a social activity in almost every day next week so he's not stir crazy. It's been very cold here in portland (for here anyway) but no rain for days! Probably why it's so cold- no cloud cover at night. OK, enough of weatherforecaster Robin.

SL- GRRRRR about the picture. You did make me chuckle when you explained the green screen and DH's tie- that would be an interesting picture, wouldn't it? :rotfl:

My house is such a disaster zone. I have to get shaking as I'm meeting my parents at Costco in 45 minutes, but I NEED to clean it this afternoon and tomorrow. YIKES. Just clutter EVERYWHERE. I am going to be a madwoman after the holidays, getting the house as clean as I can for DH. Funny how when DH isn't here, I have no one to blame the adult messes on but myself. Guess I'm not as tidy as I thought!

I just got back from the doctor. I knew he wasn't right. Aidan has the beginning stages of pnuemonia. Poor baby! That explains why he was coughing and choking and couldn't sleep all night. I'm glad I stayed home with him. My instincts were right.

Poor Aidan!! I hope he has a quick recovery. DH is susceptible to pneumonia and I know how awful it can be.

SL - Thanks. I just got smart and put him to sleep in his stroller so he is elevated. He's sleeping soundly now. Poor baby! I should get some sleep too since I only slept for 2 hours last night, but I think I'm going to wrap presents.

Wow, good thing you took the day off DisKim! That's so scary. I had pneumonia a lot as a kid (my lungs were too tiny so I had many upper respiratory infections) and I still remember how bad I felt each time. Poor Aidan. Hopefully he'll start feeling better soon. Does he have to take medication or is it just viral? Good for you for bringing him back to the dr and catching it right away. It's so hard when you know your kid is sick and the dr says nothing's wrong with them. Oh, and whoever said your house caught fire, what a wackjob! It's sad people are out there like that cause what a terrible rumor to spread.

Joats, I'll be thinking about you guys and hoping Jace's bloodwork comes back clean, whenever you decide to get it done. I think I'd wait till after the holidays too, no need to worry about something that might not even be there till you have to-plus who wants to get a needle right before Christmas!?! Enjoy your 1st Christmas with him first.

Lissawynn, that's too bad that you still have another week of school left. Madison's last day was today (preschool of course, but they have an elementary school too) and it works out so well for us so we can spend the week in NJ with my mom before we head to Disney on Christmas.

Alice28, we just went to Chuck E Cheese with Madison last night. It's great that they gave you stuff free cause their pizza really isn't anything you want to pay for. Madison enjoyed it so I was glad we made the sacrifice to go, but ours wasn't bad at all, no one was there cause it was raining (they thought it would snow and ice) and their show is just Chuck E, not all the other characters I remember from was I was a kid. I bet your kids love it there though huh, cause Madison is much younger and she enjoyed it.

DisKim - Poor little Aidan! Putting him to sleep in his stroller is a great idea. Also, they make those vapo-plug-ins now. Maybe that would help him clear up a little bit. I hope you get some rest and I hope he feels better, too.

Alice28- I'm with you on the house cleaning. I was actually contemplating scrubbing my walls. I can see DH's fingerprints on our doorway, and my feet prints(no dirty minds, I put my feet against the wall when I sit in our big chair). I think it would just be easier to paint!
One of the teachers here is hosting a Christmas party tomorrow night, and we also have to do the dreaded gift exchange at my MIL's house tomorrow. Tomorrow is my mom's bday, and we're having dinner for her on Sunday.

Yes, another FULL week of school for me next week. Our board was kind enough to let us dismiss at 12:20 on Friday, but the teachers need to stay until 1:30. What a waste of a day!

ETA - I think I have perpetual Strep throat. My throat is red and sore everyday. I must go to the doctor's next week if I am not better. I cannot spend the holiday having pain when I swallow.)

Poor Aiden!!! I hope he is better soon.

joats - I'll keep you guys in my thoughts. I think I would wait until after the holidays too.

I know I'm forgetting a million people. I think Tyler finally fell asleep and I need to hop in the shower. DH graduates tonight!!!

talk to you all later. Have a good weekend. We have a very busy weekend so I doubt I'll be on here (yeah right!)

Tamie

Diskim,
Poor little Aidan! I'm so glad you caught it early. I hope he is feeling better very soon.

Lisawynn,
I hate sore throats! Have you tried gargling with warm salt water? That's about the only thing that helps mine.

Tamie,
Congrats to Dh! Have a wonderful evening!

Justthat,
When do you leave for your mom's?

Our schools still have a full week of school left for next week. I was surprised that Friday wasn't a half day but it's not. Then they get the next full week off.

Well, we are off to Walmart. I'm sure it will be a madhouse but DH is working the whole weekend so it's now or never. Katrina has been such a fussy butt all day and last night. I ended up having her sleep in the bed with me because she would not let my put her down at all. Then I've been holding her all day long. Of course right now she is lying on our bed with DH just as happy as a clam making me look like a liar :earboy2: . I hope it's just teeth or something and she's not getting sick or an ear infection.

Hi Everyone,

I'm just popping in very quickly to say "hi". I haven't had a chance to read all the posts since I last popped in. I'll read them soon and post back.

DisKim - I hope Aiden feels better soon! :sunny: Your mom instincts were right! My girls got pneumonia at least two times a year every year up until last year. It was tough so I feel for you. Get some rest if you can.

Well, the first of the company has rolled into town. I've been baking up a storm and cooking. I still have a bunch of stuff to do, but of course I'm taking a quick computer break. :teeth: Meagan and Katie were off from school today with another snow day. They were roughing it up with each other and Katie hit her front teeth into Meagan's head. Now her permanent front tooth is loose. Ugh. I called the dentist and of course they had just closed for the afternoon. Katie isn't having a very good week with her head and now her tooth. :earseek: I've got to wait until Monday to bring her in to the dentist. Thankfully, Meagan's head is fine.

I hope to make it through the weekend without losing my mind! :earboy2:

Everyone have a great weekend! :sunny:

Congrats to your DH Tamie! WTG!

Ack- Jill---!!! I hope Katie's tooth is ok! Is she your younger or older one?

lissawynn- sounds like you just can't get a break from not feeling well. I hope your throat feels better. :wizard:

I kinda got the downstairs in order. Kinda. I got word that some gift cards that were promised all the families for Toys R Us are being mailed today. Gee, hope there's something left to choose from! Kinda late! I'm just going to get 1 thing for my oldest DS as I only spent about $50 on him so far. Sounds like these families got him just about everything he could want, but I still feel funny about it. The rest of the G.C. is going for socks, diapers and formula. Exciting!

Molly is (knock wood) taking her longest nap in days....of course it's on the couch, not in her crib....I couldn't take her waking up and sobbing again. She's just like a bear the last few days if i'm not holding her and I've had it!It's her teeth- her TWO side bottom front teeth are bulging under the gums. Poor thing! When they pop in, she will have EIGHT teeth! Geez! I'll give her some prime rib for Christmas. ;)

One Recipe for Disaster:

Have 8 year old unwrap a gift on the camel brown leather sofa- make sure he leaves the heavily dyed chunk of green tissue paper on the sofa.

Have 4 year old take a cup of water into the living room and leave cup on sofa.

Have cruising 9 month old dump over the water on the tissue paper.

You are talking on the phone in the kitchen, oblivious, until the stain has time to set and in addition, 9 month's old $14 tshirt that you HAD to have from Gymbo, is also stained green.

WA-LA----you now have a lovely stained leather sofa cushion, in a hue of emerald green, with a few extra splatters here and there just for an added touch of loveliness. :sad2:

Alice, I am so sorry that this happened! :earseek: I wonder if there is some special leather cleaner out there that can take out the stain. I remember a few years ago we had gotten a new sofa for our basement. Meagan got a nosebleed and decided to bury her face in the new sofa. I now had blood stains all over the new sofa....yuck. I certainly feel for you!

I hope that Molly is feeling better soon with her little teeth coming in. I also hope that she sleeps for you too. :wizard:

Lisawynn - I hope that your throat feels better! :grouphug:

Update on Katie (she is the blonde in the picture) - I paged the dentist and my husband ended up taking her in tonight. The tooth is definitely loose, but thankfully since it is a relatively new permanent tooth the root structure isn't complete yet. The roots should regenerate themselves. We just need to keep an eye on it and bring her in frequently for check ups. So far Katie has had two things happen to her in a week. You know how they say things come in three's? Well, I'm wondering what else is going to happen. I think I will wrap her in bubble wrap for a few days...... :teeth:

Just popping in to say hi!

Jenna hasn't been napping much lately, so my time on the computer has been very limited.

I love seeing all the new Christmas pictures.

Alice28- Glag to hear that your DH will be home soon.

DisKim- Hugs and prayers for Aidan. Hope he is feeling better soon.

joats- Sending prayers for Jace as well.

lissawynn- Hope you are feeling better soon. There is nothing like being sick and having to go and face 7th graders the week before Christmas. I have felt your pain before! :guilty:

Tamie- Congratulations to your DH. The pictures of your house are beautiful.

Have a great weekend, everyone. We will be trying to finish up our Christmas shopping.

TTFN

Jill - I'm sorry to hear about Katie's tooth. Poor thing! She's had a rough week.

Lissawynn - I hope you start to feel better. Get some rest over the holiday break. By the way, I have a full week of school next week too with no half day on Friday. It's okay though. My kids will be working through Friday because I need to wrap up all my units before break. They really love me when they are watcing holiday movies and partying in other classes and I'm testing them :teeth: .

Alice28 - :earseek: Oh no!!! I hope the stain comes out of your couch. Ugh!!

Justhat - I can't wait to hear about your trip to Disney over Christmas. I have yet to see Disney during the holidays. I can't even think about any trips right now. I think we are skipping this year.

Thanks for all the good wishes for Aidan. He slept in the stroller for a couple of hours last night and then he was up from about 3 am on. He is very fussy. I feel so bad for him. He really doesn't seem any better yet. I had to take him out to my mom's last night since my cousin is here from Georgia for the weekend and it was the only day she could see him. He did suprisingly well over there. I have so much to do before Christmas. I don't know if I should drag him to the mall. I just have to get a gift for his babysitter and exchange a pair of gloves. I think he could handle that. Well, I have to run. Aidan's crying and mommy is tired!

Diskim-I hope that poor Aidan feels better soon. I'm right there with you about the no sleep thing. My 2 year old decided to have a dirty diaper at 1am last night. And then she had some diaper rash and so her bottom hurt. She cried and cried. Ended up she slept in bed with me and Matthew, and poor DH had to sleep on the floor. I keep telling Emma that if she uses the "big girl potty" that her bottom won't hurt when she has a poopy. Lot of good that's done us! :)

I'm so glad that this week is over. Nothing else could've gone wrong here. Now I have to start thinking about wrapping gifts and packing to leave town on Friday. We're driving 15 hours south to my parents house with the two kids and the dog. Are we nuts!!!!!Luckily, I've checked the extended weather forecast and the weather looks good. So, I better run to Target to finish up with stocking stuffers and stuff. Have a great weekend!

Hi Ladies -

I've not been able to post much these last few days. I swear, if i've got 5 free minutes and try to sneak away to get on the computer, my son finds me and asks to play on the computer and makes it impossible for me to sign in here and post. He's got some kind of mommy radar!

DisKim - I hope Aidan is feeling better soon - Pneumonia - very scary! Send along some hugs and prayers from me.

Aidan seems to be doing much better. He is all snotty now. I guess everything is coming out and that's good. We have tickets to go on a train ride with Santa today. Then, Santa comes to my MIL's neighbor's house and visits with the kids and gives them presents. I hope Aidan is well enough to go. I hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend. Just think, we'll all be enjoying our first Christmas with our babies this time next week :flower: .
