Hi everyone.
Im sitting here at the University waiting for my class to start in an hour and a half so Ill Dis. It really stinks having to wait here for so long but if I dont leave work right away at 3 p.m. I get stuck in rush hour traffic and my commute goes from 1hr, 15 minutes to over 2 sometimes 2 ½ hours.
We went to Applefest in Long Grove (a suburb about an hour north of Chicago)this weekend with Mikes family. We visited some of the cutesy stores but left earlier than we planned. It was unseasonably warm and SOOOOO crowded. We ended up leaving Lilys stroller in the car and I wore her in the sling or Mike carried her.
I feel like I have to beg him to hold her. He loves to hold her when we go out. He is really the best Dad. I was kind of worried. He has a son from way before we met that he has almost nothing to do with other than pay support (issues with the ex) and weve fought about how he doesnt spend time with his son for seven years. I was a little worried that he was gonna leave all the baby stuff to me once she arrived and he totally is a hands on dad. He is even good with the cloth diapers. I think I feel worse for his son now because Mike is such a good Dad to Lily.
I officially finished BFing this past week. Im a little sad. Lily would suck for a minute or two and then almost nothing else would come out. She would start screaming and fussing. I feel like I really had to struggle with the whole BF thing from the very beginning. I hope if we do this again, Ill manage better. From the very beginning, she was supplementing per doctors orders and my milk supply never quite caught up.
However, we still get our time. She doesnt want her night bottle from Daddy. I have to give it to her. However, I guess its fair. She doesnt want me to rock her afterwards, just Daddy. That makes Monday nights tough for Mike. I dont get home till a little after 11 p.m. and shes already asleep. Mike says she is fussy every Monday. Talk about an ego trip? HA HA
Robin -- Im glad your vacation was nice. Its normal for kids to have meltdowns on vacation. Things arent normal. That doesnt mean that they are terrible, just not normal. It cracks me up. I have a daily meltdown at least once a day when were at Disney. It drives Mike crazy. Between the heat and if any little thing goes wrong I just start crying. At least your son has an excuse. Hes a little boy. Whats my excuse? Im just a dork.
I think about you and your family every night when I watch the news. We are very lucky to have men (and women) like your husband to protect our families. When my husband goes away for a week or two for work I can barely manage and that was before Lily. He would ask me what would I do if he was in the service like my brother in law and I tell him I couldnt have married him. You are a much stronger woman than I.
Im sticking pins in a voo doo doll

of the majors wife for you. You say shes a pain in the butt . . . Guess where I'm sticking the first pin?
Loretta Congratulations on your little

. Camaryn is a beautiful name. Please forgive me if I spelled it wrong. I am glad you are all doing well. How does it feel to have a girl?
Bridget Aiden has gotten so big! I love his red sox outfit. I have two Cubs outfits for Lily to wear but Daddy has threatened to destroy them. I am a Cubs fan and he is a White Sox fan. Both our families are mixed also so its always a fun time during baseball season. However, I dress her and I refuse to put her in a White Sox outfit, which is really no big deal since none of the White Sox family members bought her one. Hmmm, I guess theyre all just cheaper than the Cubs fans.
Dis Phd -- Yeah, Lily is sleeping more! I know I am happy as a fish in water when our Lily sleeps through the night. It still only happens about once a week or so. It has got to be really hard giving up eggs and dairy. I think I would die without cheese. It is my absolute favorite food. I am not allergic to anything, but hubby is allergic to chicken and all forms of poultry so I only get to eat it when we go out.
Lisawynn & DisKim --
I havent heard any new stuff about work lately. I hope everything is going well.
Tamie I hope hubby is resting and recuperating after his surgery.
Tasha -- Lily loves her Exersaucer. The sitter had her in it at 2 ½ months. Shes been holding her head up since she was like 3 ½ weeks so I didnt worry about it. The sitter rolled a blanket and put it around her. Her feet couldnt touch the bottom but she would grab and move her seat so she could play with the toys. We have the Evenflo one. Its about 50 bucks give or take. Lilys feet can barely reach the bottom now but she loves it, especially this little monkey jeep on it that plays songs.
Oh yeah, both you and your hubby are cuties. No wonder Kylie is such a doll.
Valerie I am sorry that you are getting sleep deprived again. UGH! I think thats the worst thing about the baby is that I am always tired. Even if she sleeps the whole night, I wake up when she would normally wake up and then have a hard time going back to sleep.
Money is tight for us right now too. Our mortgage payment went up. The bank underestimated our property taxes so we have to pay extra to make up for it. That jumped our mortgage payment by almost 300$ a month. We are trying to refinance now.
Im also thinking about trying the whole Independent Contractor thing for Leaving Prints. The start up is $30. I figured the worst that will happen is Ill get stuck with some extra scrapbooking supplies. OH NO!! Does anyone have any suggestions, ideas?
Joats -- It took a little while bit Im ok with Lily being in daycare now. Actually, I didnt go to class last week b/c I had a ton of stuff to do for mid-quarter grades for work. I left her at the sitters until hubby came home and had 2 hours by myself after work to do stuff. I felt so guilty, but it was such a productive time. It gets really hard to type with her in the baby bjorn. Her little round butt is in the way.
I think it was easier because we gradually worked up to full time day care. When she was 2 weeks old, I had to spend a day at a workshop and Mikes parents watched her. The next week, I had two more workshops and they watched her one day and my girlfriend watched her one day. The same thing continued until I went back to work. When she finally went back full time I was like,
bye, have fun. Call me if theres a problem. I really like our sitter though. Shes the sister of one of the teachers I work with. I felt safe and comfortable with her family right away. It was good because we really didnt have any back up plans if we didnt like her.
SL Wow, how cool, a papparazzi party. I miss those days. I used to work for a lawyer that was a big political fundraiser so I would get to go to all these fancy dinners. Oh the memories. Im glad you and hubby had a good time.
All in all the week has been pretty good. I hope the weather starts getting cooler out here soon. I am sick of this too hot to wear fall clothes time. I love sweaters and right now they are the only thing that will fall loosely over my post baby body. I Im going to sign up with WW for a week to get the points slider and then try it myself. I loved doing it online like I used to but I can barely get to the computer for anything anymore.
I hope everyone has a great week and Ill try and visit again before the weekend.
Gretchen
P.S. We are going to hopefully get Lilys 3 month pics done this week or next. Shes getting so big.
