Tennessee Week eh? Are the schools closed there the 1st week in March ?

Easter week use to be the big week here in Connecticut when the schools were closed and everyone went to Florida, my family included.

Ours isn't ... well, not all week. They get out Wednesday early, Thursday and Friday are inservice days. Spring Break starts the week after. But, MY Spring Break (college) is the first week. So that's when we're going.

I am blessed enough to be taking a group of 7 for spring break! (maybe the word is crazy enough lol) 5 of us are children, 20,16,13,and a set of twins age 8 who have NEVER been to Disney. I am a Floridian who goes when the budget allows....I SO can't wait to see the faces of these children. Cant forget to pack the tissues!!!

Funny you mention TN taking over FL...when we were there last March Mardi Gras was going on so all of the Louisianna residents were at WDW. We saw SO MUCH purple and gold that week! Maybe we should all show up in UT orange?

Yep, I'm a Tennesseean too! We are taking the kids out of school two days early. They will miss Thursday and Friday and the next week is when Spring Break starts.

Sounds like a great time for everyone, first trips are so special at any age. Where will you be staying?

Had to choose a value resort due to the party size requiring 2 rooms. All star sports will be our home that week. I don't think we will be spending too much time at the resort anyway. We have so much to do and see in such a short time. I am planning on suprising the children and haven't figured out how to tell them yet. Any suggestions?

How fun!!! We are surprising our kids too! I ordered the free Disney vacation planning DVD and will sit the kids down with some popcorn and soda for a family "movie night" the night before we fly out. When it starts and they wonder why we are watching it we will tell them.

Another idea that I have seen done is wrapping a box full of Disney themed balloons and having them open them.

This is the first time we have surprised our kids and we are so excited!!! We plan to film it with our little flip video camera.

Let us know what you decide to do and don't forget to video it so we can all see the fun!

I know I'll be shot for saying this ... but I can't stand the color orange. (Please don't tell my dad -- he still believes in the phrase "I brought you into this world, I can take you out.")

However, we'd stand out if we did the orange. But I'd be afraid to wear UT clothes in Gator-Country.

I'm currently in the process of cancelling my March trip and I'm really bummed. The high school had to cancel the band trip that my son was on and he didn't want to travel with just me, so I'm going to postpone it until November when he's in college! Hoping for free dining then as well.

Will you be using Lines? Or just a printed TP from the TP.com website? I absolutely LOVE Lines!! I used it in May, so I'm super excited that they have the optimized personal plans now! I can't wait to play with it in March!

I'm not in Knoxville (just slightly south of it), but was shocked to find out that their calendar was different from ours. Maryville City and Blount County is out March 12-16; Knox County is out 19-23; UTK is out 19-23, but the community college is out 4-9. It's nuts! Is one of them in a private school?

Awwww! I'm so sorry that you are having to cancel. That's always a tough situation. But at least you can go in November, and you can make it extra magical for having to delay it!

So sorry about you having to cancel, I have been in that situation but November will be here before you know it and now you get to see all the Christmas Decorations and start planning again which is so much fun.

Ok...been watching your threads and had to chime in. I am from the north but must admit I am a bit of a UT fan, even though the football stadium is quite ugly from the outside.

We will be in WDW at the end of March.....I bet I would get along very well with your dad!

Hey ... maybe that's what I can do to get my dad to go to WDW with us one year ... tell him he might meet UT fans.

You know, I don't think I've ever seen the stadium (in person) from either side. I know I've never been in it, and I don't think I can see it from the interstate on the instances when I had to be in the area (the Children's Hospital is across the street from UTK) ... so I don't know how it looks. Especially compared to other stadiums. Not that I've tried to see it or anything ... I just hate going to Knoxville (which is a rare thing), and then it turn out to be game day.
