The Official LOST Season Five *No Spoilers* Thread

Okay - CAN SOMEONE PLEASE SAY WHEN IT FINISHES AIRING ON THE WEST COAST SO WE CAN TALK ABOUT IT?

That ending blew me away (and someone else! ;)) WOW

I loved this episode, all the chicken references were creepy though.

How can it be that I feel so sorry for young Ben (I didn't even want Sayid to shoot him.), but have no sympathy for old Ben?

It's over and :scared1:

and thanks for waiting for us :) I always wait to open the thread though haha.

I just finished watching it on the West Coast.

My understanding was that east coast could start talking before its over. I always make sure not to read new posts until after the show is over.

Wow what an episode! Poor Sayid - tortured soul is the perfect description for him.

I feel the exact same way about anakin in star wars....

Wow, what a shocking end to that episode. I wonder if he's really dead.

I can't imagine he's dead because the island could heal him, right? I'm with the rest of you, I felt so bad for Sayid, but was a little mad at him when he knocked Jin out.

It's interesting that Sawyer and Juliet are taking the attitude that they don't really appreciate the other survivors coming back for them. :confused3 After all that build up of getting them there, it's so anti climactic!

I just think that Sawyer is really enjoying his life for the first time. He doesn't want anything to ruin that.

I tend to agree with this - Sawyer is respected and valued as part of the Dharma Initiative; I can understand that he doesn't want Jack et al ruining the life he's finally been able to build for himself.

As for Sayid shooting young Ben, I posted on the spoiler thread that I agree with the folks who don't think young Ben is dead. Either the island will heal him, or he was wearing a bullet-proof vest (remember when Ben shot Charlotte?). Or maybe Sayid missed? He's used to shooting larger (adult) targets, and Sayid made the mistake of just running off and not checking to be sure young Ben was really dead.

Or perhaps young Ben really was shot, but is still alive when he's found. Wouldn't it be weird if Juliet has to operate on young Ben to save his life when she knows what a rotten, evil person he grows up to be? (Must be a reason why they showed us that there was no surgeon on the island to do a c-section on Amy.) And what if Juliet needs Jack's help during the operation, and that blows their cover?

Here's another theory I had - feel free to pick it apart!

What if Ben really IS a good guy? Suppose now that he's all grown up, he sees the results of his actions and realizes that gassing the Dharma Initiative was NOT the right thing to do. So he manipulates the Losties into going back in time so they can kill him as a child, thus sacrificing himself to save Dharma and save the island?

The producers have been keeping us guessing as to whether Ben or Widmore is the good guy/bad guy, but it's really been leaning toward Ben being the evil one. What a twist if it turns out that Ben was really the good guy all along!

I'm sure there are a ton of holes in my theory, though.

One of the previews for an upcoming episode said that Kate has to convice Jack to help save Ben's life. Everyone was assuming it was old Ben. I am now thinking it is the young Ben she is trying to save and Jack doesn't want anything to do with it- either he wants him dead, or he is worried it will blow their cover.

Found this on another Lost forum, they were talking about how Eloise Hawking said that the universe course-corrects:

Well it's also possible that what we've seen happen before was not supposed to happen and the "universe" sent the losties back to the 70s to course-correct what went wrong (probably all by Ben).

So what we've seen to date wasn't supposed to happen and now they are there to fix that. e.g. Sayid saying he now knows why he was brought back, to fix what went wrong.

Just throwing out another theory......

I know about him knocking Jin out, but why would Jin have to call Sawyer to check? Why wasn't he like, ok thats great, good luck, here take some food, clothes, whatever you need. I know I would have helped my friend escape :rotfl:

I agree with crazy time theory girl  that they cannot change the future. The past has already happened.

Remember Ethan? We know that he existed from the first season. Yet if the losties hadn't came across Amy and saved her, she would have likely been shot by the hostiles and thus no Ethan. So the losties in fact helped to create the future that they knew and had already experienced.

Now take Ben. We saw Sayid shoot him. But I can't buy that he is dead because we know that he was alive for the purge in 92 and also the crash in 2004, etc.

The universe does course correct. Ben is not suppose to die therefore something will happen to course correct Sayid's actions. Either Juliet will save him or the others, or the island or something.

Also, does anyone else think that Amy knows something? She gave Sawyer a weird look when they were voting. Also when Juliet was there to deliver her baby she had no problems kicking the doctor out and having a 'mechanic' deliver Ethan for her.

I wonder if we'll see Widmore on island pretty soon. He did say that Ben tricked him into leaving the island which means he should be there right now!

I do not think young Ben is dead.....either the island will heal him (because his job is not done) or Jack will save him. I think there are only 4 more episodes left this season???? and then we have to wait until next year for the final episodes.......they need to start wrapping things up a bit!! I hope they do not leave any loose ends....I mean where are Rose/Benard...and the rest of the losties??? Jack/Kate/Hurley have not even asked about them....have they???

No way is Ben dead. The island or someone will heal him.

I was glad to see that Sawyer was somewhat annoyed that Kate & Co. were back. He is enjoying life on the island.

I think it will revolve around Sayid as well. Meaning that Sayid is "You", the torturer. I don't know who "He" might be. But wouldn't it be ironic if it was Sawyer though?

GOOD GUESS!!! You were close. ;) However, Sayid likes to torture and cause incredible amounts of pain with people. This guy (was he one of the Daryl's from the Newhart Show?) just gets you tripping on some real good stuff!!:lmao:

I called Sayid shooting little Ben about 20 minutes or so before he did it. I finally guessed something right on LOST. :rotfl: Hey, it's not much, but with my track record, I will take anything that I can get.

I think Ben is alive, for now. How weird would it be if Jack had to save his life twice? :rotfl2:

I wasn't to shocked that Sawyer raised his hand. He had to. To go against every single one of them? That would have raised some serious red flags. I think he hated doing it but Sayid forced his hand. He gave him more then enough chances to play the game and stay safe, but instead he has to go and do this stuff. Really hating on Sayid right now.:sad2: He would have everyone of his 'friends' killed? Because that is exactly what he is doing, putting their lives in danger and he doesn't seem to really care.

The previews showed them all being locked up in a house. Why? Are they under suspicion now? What will happen if they are found out?

I loved Sawyer last night "Been here for 3 years and no exploding buses, ya'll are here for 1 day!!!" :lmao:
"Should have used half a dropper" from weird guy. :happytv:
