**The Official January 2012 WDW Thread**

Not us. We went out to Legoland in CA a few years back and while it was interesting it wasn't anything that we felt like we had to go back to see. When we go down to Orlando, we never set foot off property unless it's going to or from the airport.

We've never been to the one in Cali. Can you tell me anything more specific about why you didn't really care for it? I just went on-line and of course their videos make it look really cool. But since tix are like $55-65 per person for just one day, I may reconsider if it's getting poor reviews.

Not us either. We've been to the one in Southern CA and it didn't really impress us. However, I can't wait to read the reviews of the one in FL and if it sounds impressive, we may plan it into a trip down the road.

We did Gatorland last year and my DS absolutely loved it and the gators, so we're going to do one of the gator airboat rides this trip. And we will probably hit the outlets and shop one day. But other than that, we'll be onsite the rest of the time.

Me, too. It opens this weekend so I'm going to be stalking the reviews to see how people like it.

We would love to do an airboat ride sometime! We've done "just Disney" for the past 6 years so feel like we want to branch out a bit and add something else to this trip (since our 2013/2014 trip will be all about the new Fantasyland).

Do you recommend any particular company? We'll have our SUV with us so can travel easily.

Also, wont' it be "cool/cold" to do an air boat ride in January? I'm thinking early morning of 50s/60s but the wind from the boat dropping it down to 40s/50s....

I just found the discount for Legoland tickets. Buy an adult ticket and get the child's ticket FREE.:banana: Save $55!!

Code #11090601

Google Pepsi Legoland code to get more info.

Tickets expire May 2012

3 months from today we arrive in WDW!!!! And we just booked plane tickets this morning.

Another Jan family here. Doing the Disney Dream Jan 19-22 and will be at Disney World from Jan 22-28. Me, DH and DS 5-almost 6

We thought Legoland was focused way too much on small children. The rides themselves were very much for small, small children. We went when my son was probably 5ish and even for him, the rides were no big deal. But he's a huge thrill seeker and always has been so riding on little helicopters, small boats and little cars just wasn't that amusing to him. We also felt that 85-90% of the rides were exactly what we could find at a fair or carnival, just instead of looking like a carnival ride, it looked like legos. Like the little cars, looked like they were made out of big legos, but the ride itself was the same as any car carnival ride, and the dragon rollercoaster that you would find at any carnival just looked like it was a lego dragon, if that makes sense. So to spend the kind of money on admission and wasting "vacation" days or time to go, just wasn't worth it to us.

I've included pics to give you an idea of the types of rides, so maybe it will make more sense what I'm talking about.

The other thing for us, was we went with me and dh, as well as my mom and dad. If you look at the pics, you'll see it was really only my dad riding with my son. There weren't enough rides that we all could do together, or that the adults wanted to do period. I'm not climbing into one of those little planes or helicopters by myself, so if one adult was on the ride with my son, the rest of us sat and watched...

I'm not trying to discourage you at all. It's probably a great park if your kids are really small enough to enjoy it or you're a lego fanatic We just weren't. (and in all fairness, there are 2 or 3 big kid/adult rides in the back of the park, but my son wasn't tall enough for those; I think the height was 52 or 54 inches, so we didn't check those out. I'm hoping that FL integrates more unique rides, family rides & older kid rides into their new park.

And yes, it probably will be a bit cold in Jan for an airboat ride, but that's really the only time we travel for now, due to our schedules. So we're kind of in a suck it up and deal with the weather if we want to do it. We're doing that and the safari trek at Disneyworld, so for both, we're hoping it's not going to be too cold or rainy. I don't have recommendations, as we've never done one before, but this is the company we're going through: http://www.spiritoftheswamp.com/ It was recommended to us by someone on this board, so that's why we went with them.

The airboat ride looks fun. Might have to try that. Just not sure about doing that in Jan.

Like PP mentioned, everything just seemed so small. All the rides really seemed to be like the ones you'd find at a local county fair. They were definitely meant for small kids, but even my niece and nephew (6 and 5 at the time) were ready to go by lunch time bc they were bored. I don't even think we stayed there to eat actually, I remember going to Red Robin afterward.

It was kind of cool to see all the things that they built with legos, but they were really showing their age, paint peeling and I saw some small parts broken off. This of course won't be a problem in the FL one since the park just opened up, but I feel like you can see the same things at the Lego Store in DTD really.

Thank you both!

That is exactly the sort of information I need to make a good decision. My girls actually really like those typical "carnival" rides, esp my youngest and there will be two adults and two children so no waiting around.

My girls will be almost 3 and 6.5 years old so it sounds like IF we are going to go, it should be now ... and not when we wait a few years to go to FL again.

My girls will both be free, so that is an added incentive too.

I will go check the height requirements, too, b/c my oldest just rode Kali and Expedition Everest in May and loved them (but hated Space Mountain) so she's just beginning to do the thrill rides.

Thanks again for all the info and pictures -- it helped me "downsize" my expectations, although with it being a brand new park, I'm hoping at least the paint won't be peeling and broken parts!:rotfl:

OK, off to do some more research on LL.

I'm glad that the info helped. And it does sound like it will work for you and your children, if they really enjoy those rides and you know what to expect. The free ticket for the kids makes it a much better deal too!!!!

It hasn't even crossed my radar, but since we don't have children, we more than likely will never go. If Sea World has the free military tickets for 2012, we may go over there one day.

Let me know if you hear anything on this. I planned our trip assuming that we would have the free tickets. It never crossed my mind that they may not have the offer next year.

It looks like BTMRR and Dumbo will be closed for most of January. :(
They both close on January 9th! This is a major disappointment!

I'm pretty bummed about this. My twins like different rides. One is more of a "daredevil" (as he calls himself) than the other. One would have loved Dumbo and the other BTMRR. :sad1:

I just signed up DH and myself to do the 5k on Marathon Weekend in January!! :cool1::woohoo::yay:

Now we just have to keep on track with our workouts through the holidays, which are going to be tough. 78 days to go!:cheer2::cheer2:

Hi all! I hope everyone had a great weekend!!! I just had to pop in to brag. We've been looking for our plane tickets daily, hoping the price would fall. We were hoping we could get the tickets down to $300-$350ish; well we found the tickets for $206 with all of the taxes and fees. We've never seen it this low from Vegas to Orlando, so we are so ecstatic to save so much money!!!:banana::banana:

We'll be at CSR from the 20-29th!!! I cant wait. I also just found this really great tool online. Tripit.com It is free and you email them all of your confirmation emails from transportation, hotel, to dining reservations and they build your itinerary for you it is CRAZY!!!! It makes life so much easier becuase all your confirmation numbers and addresses are all on one page it also gives you directions from one stop to the other...its insane and its free!!

I'll be happy to let you know, but I haven't heard back yet, but they did say it could take some time to get back to me because of the number of e-mails they get on a daily basis.

Add me to the list too! :cool1:

We are staying at the Poly Jan 27-31st for both of my kids' birthdays!

:cool1::woohoo:My DH and I both got our own Disney Visa card in the mail today! It was on offer that I found on my Dad's DVC member page. In additon to all the normal perks that come with the card, on your first purchase you receive a $100 Disney gift card, which will come in VERY handy during our trip in January!
Here is the link if anyone is interested!
