The Official... "I Give Up!" Thread

You know, I never really looked for a code. We enjoyed free dining last Sept and it was great. But, it also helped us to realize what a deal the plan is. My dh loved going to eat and not having to pay oop.

This year, we couldn't go in Sept, so we changed our dates to Aug. We got great airfare, and we're ready to go!! Honestly, we're hoping that IF free dining comes out, it will be after our dates. I'd trade having to pay for food for less crowds. But that's me.... :cutie:

I'm just excited about going to WDW!! DEAL or NO DEAL.... :yay:

Sadly, I too will join the loser club. We went during free dining last August...it was nice, but not really necessary for us. We are a "small family" of light eaters and generally split portions. I would rather have "free concierge." We stayed at POR, it was okay. What I didn't like was the inflexibility of the ADR's. You couldn't get into any decent table service restaurant at at the last minute. We had to stick to a rigid schedule just to make our adr's at the restaurants we had to select months in advance. Unfortunately, I saw lots of people yelling at the CM's at the podiums outside the restaurants...not very Disney-like behavior.

Hi there...

What is "Free Concierge?"

It looks like early August people might be getting hosed. We do have a AAA rate room only reservation, but that's the only discount we have so far. No 40% code, and no free dining. If they are going to offer some type of package (free hoppers or whatever), then they should be doing it soon because there should be a buffer between booking for the package and our 45day limit when we have to pay for the package.

With free dining beginning Aug. 26 and possibly being announced within the next two weeks, it looks like early August is being passed over as far as discounts go. :confused3 There might be enough rooms booked already that WDW doesn't need to offer a discount for our timeframe. I'm still hoping for some pixie dust, but I'm not counting on it.

I agree....lets get something at least...however I'm still not giving up hope for the Free Dining...

Ahhhh.....this time last year, these boards were going nuts over the free dining bookings. I was a general public person, so it was even harder for me since I had to wait until the 4th. Oh, well. BUT, they did release a room discount for August and extended free dining. That darn jingle that someone posted keeps ringing through my ears, "Free dining, it's delicious. Don't believe me? Ask the dishes." Beauty and the Beast is my all time favorite movie. The jingle just sounds too good to be made up, though. I think I really do give up. Coronado Springs, All Star suites, and the contemporary are booked to capacity for my dates Aug. 5-12.

I feel your pain. If true, end of September people are being hosed as well. No free dining or 40% off for us either. :sad2:

Okay, I'll join the club too.

DH doesn't want to go if there are no discounts to be had at WDW. Added to he had me wait on airfare for better prices. Yeah that worked real well, the prices went up. (I so bad wanted to say "I told you so" but I kept mum.)

The costs are far more than I budgeted for and because of that he's practically refusing to go this summer. He's insisting that we go during the school year. DS11 doesn't want to miss school. (Starts Aug 15, they aren't even getting out until June 2 so we were fairly limited with dates.) I give him a lot of credit for letting us know how he feels. He's the one who would have to make up the work so I think his opinion needs to be considered.

I just can't win at this point. I guess we'll sit at home and watch the grass grow.

 I've been there too. We really can't afford it either, but DH is terminally ill so it will probably be our last family vacation. :sad1: I've been praying for some pixiedust: since our vacation is now nearing $6000. We're staying for 9 nights so we have a chance to see it all this time, but there will be heck to pay financially.

I hope things turn around for you and you're able to go!

I am so sorry to hear about your DH. I wish you extra extra EXTRA stength pixie dust.

Not complaining, but I gave up a while back. I have 3 trips booked to Disney in the next 16 months and I'm not even bothering looking for a discount anymore.

I'll never get a pin code or post card. AP discounts are all but extinct. It's rack rate from this point on.

Where do you work, Can you get me a job there? My 2 are in college at the same time right now so I have to be thrifty or a tight wad or I just can not go. In a few years when they are out it will be nice to book and not worry.
Can't wait I counting the days till no college bills.

Also did Le Cellier and Kona last year and they were fantastic especially Le Cellier.
This Year already have ADR for Le Cellier, Ohana, San Angle, Coral Reef. And still want to make ADR for Rose and Crown and Capt. Jacks or maybe Teppanyaki (did this one before and really liked it) and the Hoop-Dee Doo.
But I like all kind of food as you can see, some people don't like San Angle or some of the others.

Dont give up on free dining.....we're not losers, a little weird maybe for being on this site all the time.....LOL. We plan on going 08/10-17/07, hoping for free dining....if not we will prob. rent DVC points and do a 2 day pass with the water park (3) option. Pretty cheap way to go really......we can eat a few dinners off property...(Joe's Crab Shack, TGIF, Applebees etc.)......
It will be OK really!!!

BUT DONT EVER GIVE UP!!!

Your right we have done TGIF in Kissimee may times in the past. So if no free dining maybe a Hotel in Kissimee and eat off Disney Property and even head to Universal which I haven't done for several years, I even have some Universay Hopper Passes remaining on my ticket.
But still not giving up on free dining that would be my first choice.

I'm sorry to hear about your DH. I hope something works out for your family and you're able to have this vacation.

 Add me to your "loser" list........ :sad2: :sad2:
If they don't come out with something better than AAA discount for June..
This will be the first trip in 9 years that we didn't have a decent discount!!!!

:grouphug: Mirthmaiden, I'm very sorry to hear about your DH and I hope your family has an extra special trip this year.

I officially gave up today... We went ahead and booked our trip thru AAA---even a small discount is better than none I guess.... And we're paying for the DDP.
