Crossing fingers and toes for everybody in the way of the storm.
I really, REALLY hope it doesn't get too bad and that everybody can make their flights on time and safely.

We leave tomorrow morning... I have so many boxes in the sitting room right now it isn't even funny. Still can't quite believe this is actually happening, sort of on denial, but tomorrow when we finally hit the road it will become more clear.

The weather forecast for Orlando is starting to look up a bit, I hope it holds up!

We made a reservation at the hotel directly across the lot from our airport for the night before our flight. We figure if we can get there the night before, at least we only have to cross a lot to get to the airport- all assuming that we can actually get there the night before (its only a 20 minute drive to the airport but we are supposed to be hammered with ice and snow Tuesday night into Wednesday)

That sounds like a really good plan. I hope everyone leaving this week makes it just fine, with no delays.

Man, all y'all need to move here to Texas or something -- that's way too stressful sounding to have to deal with all that snow and ice and yucky stuff!! Sending much pixie dust your way for uneventful trips!!

Allison, we did the same thing so we will have. 10 min commute vs a 1 hour!!! Hopefully that is we will need. I am going to call tomorrow and inquire about moving our flight to Tuesday morning?
Hopefully this storm will just blow out to sea and we won't have to worry about it...

Ugh, this is so nerve-wracking worrying about the weather. Even though I don't go for 3.5 more weeks, I could easily be having the same issue.

Well, in planning this, our first big family trip, I definitely learned something: do not plan any future trips for February!!! Between worrying about being snowed in and not making our flight and then worrying about one of us coming down with something ...................Oy. I've heard SO many stories this winter about people having horrible flu bug for a week or strep for 3 weeks or stomach bug for 3 days -- and it going thru every member of the family!! None of us have been sick yet this year except 3 of us had a quick 12 hour stomach thing, so I am a nervous wreck worrying about it. I've been thinking about making everyone obsessively sanitize their hands 500x/day (sending it to school with them) BUT then I don't want to start too early b/c if we're going to get sick, I'd rather we get sick now than in 3 weeks. So I think I will wait a couple weeks before becoming a crazed anti-germ fanatic.

Everyone who's going this week, keep us posted and post when you get there as well if you can.

Thanks - you too!!! No we are in AK that day and MK on the 6th... I think our whole trip we miss each other by a day.

I just got off the phone with Delta and they will not allow us to change without paying a ton of money eek: a $200 change fee pp and the difference in the fare which is about $400.00 PER TICKET!) If the weather is badd enough they will give a weather waiver, but we still might have to pay the $200 fee!! THAT IS CRAZY!!!!
SO nervous and uneasy right now....

Boo on missing each other! I can't sleep I am so nervous. I also cannot motivate myself to pack- I stopped planning our days (which ride, whic order) and started obsessing about the weather....

Can we bring food on the plane- Like in our carry ons? Does it have to be a certain size? packed a certain way?

Alli, as far as I know, you can bring food on the plane as long as you don't bring drinks. (unless they are less than 100ml containers)

It is raining here in Fort Walton Beach Florida. That is ok. It isn't supposed to rain in Orlando. I do have my rain ponchos ready.
I am going to start packing today. I cleaned the car on Friday. I need to get an oil change.
I am SO excited.

Hey - if anyone is flying out of Chicago between now & Wednesday...on Southwest...you can change your flights ....they have plenty available. Just thought I'd post it...fyi...I was just looking at the SWA website - still hoping the weather people are blowing smoke again...
