Lets all keep our eyes and ears open for early august discount codes. It's unlikely but if we keep hoping, something may pop up. i.e. discounted room only rates or free hopper upgrade passes. i'll let you know if i hear anything.

AAA rates vary depending upon the season and the type of resort you stay in. In august, you can save 15 percent off the room rate at a deluxe resort, and up to 25 percent of the room rate at a value resort. Call disney to inquire.

We have a ressie for a MYW plus dining package....it is worth doing room only from AAA and then getting the tickets and dining plan seperate?

Personally, I wouldn't do free dining. If you're staying in a value resort, then you could end up saving lots of money with free dining, and even more so the bigger the party in your group. However, if you plan to stay in a deluxe resort, you may not end up saving much money. Besides, disney will be crazy during free ddp. The restaurants will be mobbed and everyone will be scrambling for their free food. If that is worth it to you, then go for it. But if its only going to save you a few bucks, a nice AAA room only rate may be more convenient.

P.S. Has anyone heard of any discount codes such as free room upgrade, discounted room codes or theme park ticket upgrades yet for early august? I'll let you know if i hear anything. Thus far, nothing and don't count on it.

While it's nice to hope and it certainly isn't impossible, I do believe that it's improbable and like the above poster, don't count on it.

There was a different post a few days back in which the poster explained it so much better than I can. Basically, Disney has already released promos that are for dates past early August. Historically they haven't, that the poster noticed, went back to a previous timeframe and released another promo.

And a promo has already been published for early Aug. It's called "Refreshing Rates This Summer At All Disney Value Resorts".

Details: Soak up some fun during your summer vacation this year and save — Value Season has been extended and the rates are 15% lower, compared to the same dates last year! Stay at a Disney Value Resort most nights between August 5-26, 2007 when rooms are just $82* per night, plus tax. You and your family can enjoy whimsical, larger-than-life icons that decorate each Disney Value Resort, relax in themed pools and experience affordability close to the excitement of the Walt Disney World® Theme Parks.

I understand that is still paying rack rate but at the same time it is a discount off what the same rooms went for last year at this same time. In a way, it's a general public discount with no need for codes, pins, postcards, or anything.

They could have not done this promo and instead did a pin code offer for 15% off rooms and it'd feel like a better deal I suspect.

I'd like to be wrong and it'd be nice to get a free upgrade on tickets, free dining, a more generous discount ... but I suspect us poor schleps who couldn't get in on Free Dining and / or the 40% off code will have to be happy with Refreshing Rates.

Isn't refreshing rates just for the values? What about the mods and deluxes? I am not counting my chickens but hoping for something, if not we do have AAA rate and we are going to WDW .

I questioned that too, in another post, and was told that Disney almost always uses the Values as the examples since it sounds like a better deal. 15% off brings your room down to $82 / night sounds way better than 15% off brings your room down to $160 / night.

$160 / night is what we're paying at CBR for Aug 11 - 18 and when I looked at Deb's and Mary's sites that is reflective of a value season price. DH is really balking at that price is strongly suggesting that we not go this year. I suggested that we switch to a Value, rent points, stay off-site, etc and he's against all those ideas. He's being really difficult with this trip. Dare I just leave him at home?
