The OFFICIAL December 2014 - Christmas Magic

The crane is in position, behind Cinderella's Castle, for the installation of the Christmas lights.

And I noticed this, and am not sure if this had been mentioned yet. But the filming of the Christmas morning parade will be done on 12/6 and 12/7.

We get to Orlando on the 5th but we will be at Universal for the 5th, 6th, and 7th. I don't mind missing the taping though. We only have 6 full Disney days on this trip so I'd rather not be working around the parade taping.

I got really excited for this trip this evening! I'm always in trip mode but now it feels closer and I better buckle down even more and start saving up our incidentals/eating out budget (staying offsite for the first time). It's creeping up and I love to not have to worry about what we're spending on vacation!:santa:

Where did you see the parade taping dates? This may change up m yplans. :) Was trying to avoid that on the 5th, but if it is now over the weekend...

TIA!

Hi Everyone! We are joining the December bandwagon! My husband and I will be staying at Coronado Springs December 5-10 :cool1: We got the DDP and 4 day park hopper tickets. We are celebrating my 30th birthday and 5 years of marriage  Our first trip was our Disneymoon in June, 2009 and it seems like for the last 5 years we have been dreaming of going back! Technically our 5 year anniversary was in June but there was no possibility of a trip then - so we are celebrating in December :goodvibes This will be our last adults-only trip as the next time we are able to go our kids will be old enough to take it all in. I. Can't. Wait!!!

My husband and I will be at AKL the 5th through the 10th!!! We have never been to Disney in December and are looking forward to the Christmas festivities!!! :santa: :santa: :santa:

Looks like Disney is going to mix it up a bit this Christmas season. HERE is a story about how they are going to incorporate Queen Elsa into the Castle lighting ceremony. I'll be quite interested at how they'll do it? I hope they still have the originals bickering on the stage.

My husband and I are surprising our 5 children with a trip to Disney over the holiday break. We are driving down from NYS, leaving on Christmas Day and beginning touring the parks on the 27th. Since hotel rooms on-site are so expensive and we'd need two rooms, we have opted to rent a spacious house again (we did this 2 trips ago when our youngest was 5 months old-best decision we made!). It's only $1200/week as opposed to at least $2400 for only the value resorts. There are definitely perks that we will miss out on, but the comfort of everyone and space for privacy (2 teens and1 pre-teen) is well worth it as my parents, who now live in Florida, will also be staying with us. My question is for anyone who has stayed off-site during this crazy time of the year at WDW, what time would you suggest arriving at each park? We are about a 10 min drive from AK and 20 min. from MK, so not too bad. I am thinking we should leave the house at 7:15-7:30ish for 9am openings. It's a bit early, but we like to be up front and center at opening. Any suggestions or tips would be great as far as navigating the openings of each park this time of year.:santa:

Whoooo Hooooo!!!!!

Just got off the phone with my AAA travel agent and booked our airfare. Now this trip is OFFICIAL. Pretty good deal through JetBlue, too. Flying out of Logan (Boston) at 7:40am and arrive at MCO (Orlando) 10:55am on 12/10, then returning on 12/17, we fly out at 8:47pm and arrive at 11:30pm. And it was pretty short money considering. $275 per person rd trip. Now my TA is looking into the cost for the "Even more space" option.

I can already taste the snow(p) on my tongue.

Congratulations! I love JetBlue! I try to fly them when ever I can. And there is so much more room in the "Even more space" seats. I'm from California and I've used this option when flying to the east coast. Their regular seats are not too bad though (good option since for me it costs about $85 per person/seat to upgrade to even more space). For our Disney World trip this December we will be flying JetBlue and I booked directly through them (for me it was cheaper than AAA), I also bought my MYW Tickets and Dining Plan (no free dining plan for my dates) through them so it's official for me too (no refunds).

I am so excited in just 14 days I can make my fastpass selections!!! And I just got home from Disney 2 days ago!!:yay: I am so happy to be going back so soon, it was nice to leave the park and not feel depressed:goodvibes

If anyone is interested I have a pre trip report up that covered my Sept trip and is going to cover my December trip!

That is a great fare!! The fares for flights
earlier in December are so much higher.

That's such a nice feeling isn't it? A few times we took trips 6 months apart and you are right.. it alleviates the post trip blues to know you will be back soon.
I think this time we already know when the next trip will be. We plan to upgrade to Power Passes at Universal in December, so we want to go back in October for a few Universal days and to do F&W and MNSSHP. In 9 trips we've never been for the Halloween season so that should be fun.:goodvibes

The December trip is starting to feel closer! Pretty much 11 more weeks to go. I will be upgrading 2 day tickets when I get there, and we are staying offsite for the first time, so no fastpass booking until I get there and have the old tickets taken off the KTTW cards and add days to them. I am a little nervous about that after 9 trips onsite but it was time to try something new. We don't want Anna and Elsa, so really I think the only thing we will have to do standby for is 7DMT and I can live with that. I even kind of like to wait in line for new rides so I can take in the themed waiting areas.

I'm still debating on MVMCP tickets. We went for the first time last year and had a very nice time, but I don't know if it's in the budget or if the money would be better spent doing something we haven't done before. We still have some time to decide.
