I can't understand why the show would jump the shark this way.

Wasn't this one of the highest rated seasons ever? Even if Jason was going to end it with Melissa and was willing to do it on television -- why would ABC let him? Jason had been basically likeable (though cross-eyed).

We all knew that the show was "produced" -- helped along in lots of ways. (They totally prepped Melissa with that sheep knock-knock joke!) But I was always willing to suspend disbelief in order to enjoy it. I don't think I'll be able to do that for any future seasons.

Now we're left with a bachelor we don't like and a show we can't even pretend to believe in. Why did they jump the shark??

I read somewhere, maybe here of the Dis, that Molly was seeing him on alternate weekends from Melissa. Don't know if it's true.

that. was. awful. seriously, did he have to break the poor girl's heart on national television?! absolutely not. then to turn around and pretend that he had no communication with molly, and she's oh so shocked, and let's have coffee and see where things go, and then they're making out?! trash, both of them. i feel bad for melissa, that was just cruel for them to do. you could tell everyone knew what was going to happen but her, it was so staged and cheesy and fake. i'm glad melissa got to say what she wanted and got out of that relationship when she did. she deserves better...molly and jason really do deserve each other.

i hope those other women really rip into him tomorrow night. what he did to melissa was just rotten.

I am so disappointed in ABC in airing this garbage. It seems tv just reaches new lows daily. What a piece of crap Jason is, not to mention scary, stalkerish, creepy, and makes me think he is what a sociopath must be like. I can't believe he went from being what we all thought was sweet to very fake and pathetic in the course of a season.

So do you think that Melissa knew what was going to happen ( that she was going to get dumped) before she came out on stage?
Do you think she may have wondered why there was no audience there when she came out?
Before she actually handed the ring back to him, I stopped the picture, when she had her left hand up to her face, and it looked like she wasn't wearing the ring...but then she had it in her hand (or on her finger???) to give back to him. Do you think she knew what was going to happen and that she didn't have the ring on when she came out?

Will Melissa be on the ATFR show tomorow night? I hope so.

Ah man! I should have watched the show live and chatted with all of you. Instead, I started recording it and watched something else for about 45 minutes so I didn't have to watch commercials.

Did you all catch the very end? They re-showed Jason and Ty and Molly on the beach and playing in the sand. She was running along the beach yelling "I WON!".

{shrug} I don't know if it was scripted. I do think that Melissa knew what was coming. I wonder if she had to put herself out there because she was under contract to do the ATR Show. She looked like she was coming out to her own execution. I *do* agree with a PP who pointed out the she said she was always "The Dumpee" and there she was again. Dumped and Duped. There must be something about her that makes guys run. Maybe it's her annoying giggle. Or maybe it's the way she wraps her legs around them all the time. Or maybe it's the way she fixes her hair in a little lump on top of her head. Whatever the reasons, being dumped on National television stinks.

As for Molly ... I think that "the look" as she was leaving the rose ceremony was her seeing the cameras as intrusive and not playing up to them like she had all season. Cameras were supposed to catch her happiness and not her humiliation. Oh, and did anyone else think she looked a heck of a lot prettier before she put on her makeup? Someone should tell her that "raccoon eyes" are so 1980's. I am willing to take her reaction to Jason asking "for a chance" with her at face value. She could be a good (or bad) actor, but I thought she looked shocked and speechless. I could also see how it would be easy to fall back into the kissy-face thing when placed in front of a camera with Jason again. That was always expected out of her.

I still don't know how any of them can ever have any kind of "happily ever after" when it's clear that he is doing the same to 2 or more women as he is doing to you on those overnight dates. Molly seemed shocked that he could dump her after staying the night. Wake up! He "stayed the night" (and all that entails) with Melissa and Jillian too.

ATFR.. totally everybody knew what was gonna be said and who did what to who... I don't think anybody came off looking good .. not one of them..

1. Jason.... oh dear lord man, if you made a mistake.. you made a mistake.. but have the cajones NOT to let ABC make you parade it on tv as this hideous scripted Bachelor Historical Event!
2. Melissa- while she did endure a most "amazing" atrocity (sp?) on the Bachelor... she came off as a snippy biotch. Her face and eyes were different-cold, very cold. She did seem like a completely different person .. than the girl we viewed in the past. I am wondering which personality is the real Melissa
3. Molly... my goodness... a hot mess. plain and simple, she could not hide the fact that she was giddy...from the moment she entered the set and sat on the sofa she was giddy, smiling and twitchy. Let's say that she and Jason are really, truly in love... which they may be... I say "Girl get a hold of yourself, you do not play tonsil hockey with a man who supposedly broke your heart" "Slow your roll!" .. LOL go for a cup of coffee at least....
4 Chris Harrison- Poor old Chris, I swear he had the make-up people put extra light pancake on him to hide his embarrassed blush! He seemed very ill at ease with the entire production.

all in all.... ATFR was a fiasco... and yet TPTB GOT ME... I will watch Tuesdays ATFR2 in hopes that all the players will toss their ABC script and give us real reality tv.

Sad but true:

I now have more respect for Bachelor Bob who faked the final rose ceremony and then married Rebecca Buddig from AMC.

I didn't see it that way at all. The Melissa we saw tonight was raw hurt and anger. She was cold because she was crushed. It's a defense mechanism. Would you expect her to be bubbly about it?

anyone else catch jason on jimmy kimmel? he said that he and melissa were already broken up before the taping of the ATFR and that she wasn't even sure whether she should wear the ring or not. when asked why he did it all on national tv he said he had to. so basically everything we saw tonight had already happened and they just made them all reenact that? wow abc, desperate much? tomorrow night should be interesting. actually, most of all i can't wait to see Ellen's reaction to everything. all 3 of them are supposed to be on her show later this week.

I don't believe Jason knows what he wants. In fact, I believe he could be gay. He's workin' too hard at this and it's "I love Deanna....no, I love Melissa.....well, I really love Molly.... the guy's a nutcase. He's gorgeous but even THAT has worn off, imho. Add that he goes at each kiss with a totally open mouth-ewwwwww! All that glitters is NOT gold.

I'm glad Jason admitted that on Jimmy Kimmel. It was so obvious there was no way they thought they'd get away with that "emmy winning" performance. It was beyond sickening, stupid, fake and embarrassing.

Speaking of embarrassing, I feel like the biggest fool EVER for watching this mess. ABC should be ashamed. They did this for another hour of ratings tomorrow and now the rubberneckers WILL return. I hope Jason loves his transformation from the nice victimized single Dad to the Tool of the Year~ He should expect to be egged in the streets of Seattle soon!

hat doesn't jive with what the spoiler sites are saying ... and they nailed every other detail. I can't imagine they'd get that one wrong.

Another player, getting what he could, trying ALL the candy, whining about the choice, and then saying, that it was "so difficult for him." ugh!!
Thats what you want in a marriage, the first BLIP, and he "thinks" he wants the other choice and bails. SAD, but somehow does not surprise me.
Personally if they last, which I have strong doubts about, (J and Molly) then they DO deserve each other, she should have walked, no R U N away as fast as she could.
Lovely that they were down each others throats within moments, Total Class, NOT!
I was curious if anyone watched Kimmel last nite.

I agree with you... He did go from most wanted single dad to TOOL OF THE YEAR.
