*** The Official August 2018 Thread*** - let's have some fun....

Interested in rope dropping experiences for the 7am DHS opening for TSL. Just read a couple reports that they are no longer opening the tapstiles before 6:30 -- more like 6:45-6:50 for the last few days.

Good to know, thanks for this post. I was planning on getting us all to the bus stop at 5:30 am. I am going to have keep a close eye on this situation; just when I thought I had everything figured out.

We went to HS today. Arrived about 1000 (this trip is about sleeping in I guess ) anyways had a great time. Stayed until about 2 then headed back in the evening. Where else can you be a toy in Andy’s backyard, play with a snowman in 90 degrees, go back to the 1950s for dinner then be rounded up by storm troopers and recruited? So much fun! We loved slinky and did TSM 2 times (first stand by for an hour - air conditioning!!) then as a 4th fastpass. We didn’t ride aliens because my kids said no it was too much like the teacups. Wait time was about 30 minutes only after times during the day. Dinner at 50’s PT was great and our waitress was awesome - even though I got yelled at for not finishing my green beans and so she hand fed them to me

Safe Travels to all :)

Well, the Tragical Express picks us up in 2 hours. This trip has been wonderful. The crowds were super for summer and we could not have asked for better weather, especially considering how many days we were here. Sure the heat was...well, the heat. You can't get away from that. But rain wise we were super fortunate. Had to wait out one storm in Hollywood Studios and had a bit of rain yesterday in Animal Kingdom. That was it for us in the rain department.

I just wish I could take this magical TV home. I can YouTube Stacy. That channel though that shows the hours and show times...I just love the music. We went to sleep to it each night. It was a lot of fun again this year being in this group. I look forward to reading others' adventures. Have fun everyone.

Leaving is the worst! But I am glad you had a great trip and now you can start planning your next one!!!

Seriously the weather was incredible this week. Never would have thought it would be so nice

I’m glad you had a great trip! It’s always sad to see it come to an end :(
I hope the good crowds and weather stay for the rest of us August folks!
I absolutely love watching Stacy on YouTube!! I also found an app and a YouTube video of the hours channel, but I usually watch Stacy on a loop on my trips so I don’t watch the hours as much after my trip.

Yay! My children and I love the hours channel. It was so relaxing after being out at the parks. We watched Stacy a lot in the first couple of days but that hours channel was our go to, especially since it had a weather screen. I'm hoping they do another Stacy video to include the new stuff and don't replace her. I really enjoy watching her.

I hope the weather continues to be nice. It certainly was beautiful when we left. Everything went smoothly once I got the children up. They were up late. My son wanted to play in the pool while I did the laundry. It was 10pm when it was dry and 10:30 by the time I finished folding it and then the kids wanted more food. I guess we'd had dinner too early. I left him behind with his sister which was a mistake. I was amazed at how many people hit the food court at 10:40 at night. It's the last hour it is open. My son wanted pizza and my daughter wanted a cheeseburger. For those not familiar that is too different bays at All-Star Movies. The burger line was way longer so I figured I'd get the burger first so it would stay warm. After standing in line for 30 minutes to get the cheeseburger, I was hungry too...and done. I looked over at the pizza line and it had grown. I knew it would be another 30 minutes. I got 3 cheeseburgers and went back and told my son sorry, you're getting a cheeseburger. He was half asleep by the time I got back.

It was tough going this morning. I got the luggage we would be checking over to resort airline check-in and had to wake the children 3 times to get their carry-ons ready and check the room over. The Mousekeeper came by while we were preparing to leave so I was able to hand her the tip personally. We made it to the pick up point though 15 minutes before the departure time. We were the last stop before the airport.

We went in, got a few last minute souvenir items, some candy to chew on to keep our ears popping. It was a smooth flight home. Both children napped too so it was also quiet.

It is tough to leave Disney; but the length of our trip was really satisfying. I didn't feel sad when we left like last year when we only had 4 days there.

On the way down to baggage claim though my son says, "So when is our next vacation mom?" :rotfl:I actually have a couple of nights booked at Great Wolf Lodge at the end of September. Kind of a "we survived the first month of school" trip because I had to move it from another date. You don't cancel with Great Wolf Lodge, you just move the dates. We usually go away for Thanksgiving; but it varies where. We are hoping to visit Universal Orlando at some point. Also want to do a cruise at some point as well. Thinking of bringing my mom at some point too so a lot of planning options to think about. For now though it is back to work full time and time to get ready for the school year.

 Just wanted to update. Yesterday was our AK day. We explored that entire park, 22,000 steps worth. :faint: We dined at Tiffin’s for lunch and it was incredible! FOP was amazing. Pandora in general is gorgeous especially at dusk. We both loved Na’vi River and I am so glad we were able to secure that as our 4th FP.

Today was our anniversary and Epcot day. We rode Test Track which was just ho-hum for me. The ride itself is super fun but all that Chevy car stuff felt like a big advertisement. Admittedly I’m not into cars so whatever magic was lost on me. We rode Nemo after, very cute.

After we had the awesome opportunity to visit Club 33 in Epcot. Big rule, not allowed to share pics of the inside. I do have pics of the merchandise though. We were treated to a wonderful time there; really neat. It’s gorgeous!

Our plan was to snack and drink around the World however Rose and Crown. LOL! Between the bar, people we met, and lunch, we were there 3 hours. We had such a fun time!

We strolled around the rest of WS, bought some trinkets in Morocco and a hat at the Guinness shop. We got back to Kidani, relaxed, and had room service for dinner. Perfect!

We are debating skipping MK tomorrow and opting for a pool day. Between the heat and copious amounts of food/drink, we need a down day. We’d miss MK this trip though if we do.

Ahh you just transported me - loved the quiet nights with the music faintly playing while the kids drift off to sleep..., can't wait! My middle kiddo fell in love with the Mickey shorts last trip and watches them on youtube all the time now. Quack quack bicker bicker.....

Somehow when I originally envisioned an August trip I thought there would be less packing. But as I was setting up my park bag I realized the ponchos, stroller cover, cooling towels, and fans sure take up a lot of space :crazy2:

Great day today. Took boat from Port Orleans Riverside to Disney Springs. Had an early lunch at Wolfgang Puck Express (our favourite qs), shopped (DD's bought dresses at Cherry Tree Lane- Mary Poppins and a Fantasyland/Rapunzel dress - they are so cute! Rested at resort (BTW we got the best room ever! We reserved Riverview with the FD BB from last year and we got Riverview in building 14, ground floor- exactly what we requested by fax). We had dinner at Trails End (such a hidden gem) then boat to MK for evening. Arrived at MK around 6PM. Saw Monsters Inc, rode Buzz, FP+ Space (kids rode twice while DH and I rode People Mover), Tea Cups, Peter Pan FP+, Haunted Mansion, FP+ Jungle Cruise - walked onto bus just as fireworks ended. I had a Peter Pan float (lime dole whip with sprite and a chocolate feather) in Fantasyland- so refreshing! Kids had a dole whip and popcorn. Got back to PORS in time for a swim and settled in room now. Taking tomorrow off of parks (Disney Springs, Chef Mickey dinner plans). Weather was great today. Had some cloud coverage this afternoon/evening. Crowds were pretty good. Thursday is another MK day and Friday is DHS in morning and AK at night. Will try to check in again later.

Really love reading about those of you who are currently at disney. Thanks for sharing...we are getting close and I have barely touched my packing list (maybe I am in denial as it has been a long wait?). I have started having nightmares that we are the plane and I realize that I forgot to pack anything :scared:....may just be a sign to get busy packing

Happy belated anniversary! Sounds like you had a wonderful day.

Me too! I completely thought I would be packing less. Orginally I had thought I could get away without a park bag. But then I remembered fans, cooling towels, ponchos, etc. Nope, I think I packed more than usual.

Sounds like you have had a great trip! I enjoyed following along. We always feel like we need a vacation after vacation, so I have made it our goal to take it slower this trip and really enjoy the moment - not be rushing from one thing to the next.

That's one of the big perks of going once a year or multiple times a year...you don't feel like you have to "do it all". We used to do commando style and now we go with the flow more. It's still just as much fun, but you're not spending the next two weeks recovering from vacation! Also, you have time to really appreciate how amazing the parks are and how much thought and planning goes into everything from the backstories to the detail of the lines and attractions. Plus people watching can be an attraction all it's own..haha!

Well I'm exhausted :surfweb: I'm trying to get everything thing done for work before I leave and it's my busiest week of the month as an accountant. I had issues with my washing machine over the weekend so I'm almost packed instead of all packed like I wanted. Ex husband coming tonight with the kids to pack them. Still ahead of where I am usually really, usually I'm a night before/day of packer. 2 more work days and we fly. :drive:

Contemplating a Target run for some gift cards and odds and ends. Waiting till we get to Fort Lauderdale to get all our toiletries for the trip so I don't have to worry about checking an extra bag.:D

Updated all my ADRs and my AKL CL reservation with my boys newly confirmed food Allergies so this will make an interesting trip for food with my middle son as I told him he had to try 2 new food this trip.:rolleyes1

4 days till we arrive at Disney :dancer:

We had a great evening at Magic Kingdom...worth the foot pain I am experiencing now. We went in at about 2:30. Got my dd the Starbucks she has been wanting. We hit Adventure Land to do Alladin, Jungle Cruise and (new to us) Pirates of the Caribbean. Between Alladin and Jungle Cruise we had some fun with those totum poles that squirt water. Very refreshing and entertaining for me to watch my children getting wet. Did not know there was a drop on Pirates so that was funny. When I got in, I thought "I wonder why this seat is wet." I found out. :rotfl:

After that we headed over to Tomorrow Land and hit the People Mover which was down when we visited earlier in the trip. We did Carousel of Progress again because we just love it so much. Then we used our fast passes for Buzz Lightyear (which was also down earlier in the trip. After getting beaten thoroughly both times on Toy Story Mania, my son beat his sister on Buzz. Boy was he thrilled.

Then it was on to Fantasy Land to repeat our two favorite things. Philharmagic and Small World. Now last year, after we did Small World I found a good spot in front of the castle for the children and went off to get dinner. Little did I know I would end up in a 45 minute line. Yes, 45 minutes despite being the 4th person at the register. A lady in front of me had someone in her party with an allergy and due to procedure, the cashier had to wait for someone to come over to verify before completing the order. It took someone over 20 minutes to get there. By the time I got back to them, dd and I had to use the lights on our phones to find each other. We had 2 minutes to eat before they told everyone to stand up to get ready for the show.

Not this year. While we were in line for Small World, I put in our dinner order on my phone. We chose Columbia Harbor House which is a favorite of ours. Once we were off the ride I tapped the "Prepare my order" button. By the time we walked in, my phone let me know the food was ready. Took a bit to find a table; but we sat and ate and were out in plenty of time for HEA.

Right as it started, a guy told his girlfriend he wanted to take a photo with her. Once they had taken the photo, he knelt and proposed. :lovestruc
We enjoyed HEA. It was a long day for our feet for sure. We'll sleep in a little before doing a short visit to Animal Kingdom tomorrow.

Sounds like a great day! I love Carousel of Progress. It's a sentimental favorite. I will admit to sometimes using it as a great place to enjoy the AC and relax a bit. I also love Pirates and feel that you get much wetter than you used to on that ride. With the heat, I don't mind getting wet! You didn't mention Splash Mountain. Did you do that one? That's one of my favorites!

Thanks for the reminder about being able to phone in an order. I love to do that when possible! Also, how fun to see a proposal at Disney! I wonder how many proposals there are each day, especially at MK.

Glad you are having a great time and thanks for taking the time to report to us. It really ramps up the anticipation for the rest of us!
