*** The Official August 2016 Thread! ***

Just finished our 2nd full day and came back to POR around 3:30, the heat is horrible, however just had a quick 5 minute shower so hopefully that will cool things down. The pavement walking is like smoking tar....crowds are very low, can't believe it is the first week in August here and crowds like this. I will post a little update on theme park strategies forum. We are eating tonight at Trail's End soon.
I agree crowds are low. We did DHS today and it was nice. The morning until noon is fine temp wise. After that it is HOT until the sun starts to set.
We've been the last 2 Augusts and yes, HOT! Although last year seemed much better and a bit less humid than 2014. Happy to hear crowds are low; hope that continues into the end of Aug.!

In the single digits today!!! 9 days to go, and I can't wait!

We leave in a week!!! This is going to to be the longest week ever! Hubby and I are going to be down from 8/9/16-8/15/16 and staying at Coronado Springs. Going down for JamCon and decided to make it a vacation, so we are going early and staying late and getting a day in each park. I'm going to miss the kids, but am excited to be going on our adults only trip.

Question for Disney experts and help from those who are there now/soon. I am thinking of letting my kids pick their backpacks for school this year while on the trip. However what are prices like? Selection (thinking we will get them in Disney Springs)? Most importantly, what is quality like? They normally get to use the backpack two years.

We got some backpacks last year on the buy $50 worth of stuff, get this cheap promotion. I would say that they are decent quality, but not sure they would hold up to 2 years for school. Now keep in mind that these were a discount promotional item. I didn't look at what other backpacks might have been available, so it is quite possible that they do sell higher quality backpacks than the ones we bought. I believe we paid something like $9.99 for ours. I would expect that if they have good ones, they will be significantly more expensive.

i received one as a deal in the resort gift shop over two years ago, and have been using it since. It is probably one of the best quality backpacks i've ever used.

We are at All Star Sports right now. Here are photos with prices of the backpacks they have in this store. They range between $29.95-$44.95

Have you noticed what their promo items are? Last year I got a towel and a tote bag :)

Just found this thread. We are staying 8/21-8/24 at Por in. A royal room. Can't wait. It's a surprise for the kids and its killing me not to tell them.

So excited, we will be at Disney in 6 days :cool1:. We will be at AllStar Sports from 8/10-8/15. It will be myself, DH, DD15. and DD13, this will also be our first time staying at this resort (first time staying in a Value too) and we can't be anymore excited. We originally were suppose to go in November but life was getting in the way, so we had to cancel that trip. Then both DH and I had the bright idea that we would do a long weekend next week since he and I both have the time off of work already and we have a ton of SW miles that we can use. This will be a last Hoorah before the girls go back to school. Oh yeah, I was able to get almost everything that I wanted for dining reservations (minus BOG but that is to be expected) and I got almost all of the FP+ that we wanted except for the new Frozen ride and 7DMT (again, to be expected) but we are very happy with what we got :goodvibes.

We are leaving for our drive in 7 days too!

AWESOME!!!

Looks like you have a bit longer of a drive than I do. Do you take 77, or I95? For us I95 is the most convenient route.

We are 21 days out from hitting the road. Hubby decided yesterday that we should leave 4-5 hours earlier than originally discussed/planned. So 1am instead of 5 am on the road, 15 driving hours before the first night/stop. I'm love how all of a sudden he wants to plan now, as long as we still only have one overnight stop.

I'm at 21 days until my drive. We do I75, so if either of you follow that route I'd love a construction update from your return :)

Disneylover99 might go that way, it looks like it makes sense for her. We are in New York, so it is super quick and easy for us to get to I95 and take that the whole way.
