***The Official AKV Owners And Lovers Thread***. Come And Chat

Kidani has an amazing kids water play area & slide, but the pool is small and I've always had trouble with yellow jackets at that pool. For this reason I like Jambo better.
Jambo's pool is huge, even on a busy day there's always space and it's close the the counter service.
So for adults, Jambo would be better? I wish Jambo had the food option at the pool like kidani does

I'd say yes, Jambo in general may be preferable for adults. More dining options in general there too.
My kids liked both pools equally when younger, but they added the play area to the Kidani pool after my son was really the right age for it.

I love both of these pools. Only thing I wish was different is the location of the Hot Tubs. I do not like having to leave the pool area to get to the hot tubs. This is one of my favorite places to stay though when going to Disney. I cannot wait for the Refurb.

We like to stay at somewhere between 7328 and 7344 (or 7428 and 7444) as we walk between Jambo and Kadini a few times per trip. This puts us by the Zazu elevators. It also puts us far from pool, but for us not a deal breaker.

Agree, that area is really nice to stay, both from a savanna view standpoint, and the proximity to easily walk to Jambo.

As a recent example, here's a savanna view from the 1BR at Kidani, 7322.

This last point. As an adult, I can get away from kids splashing in the Jambo pool. It's big enough that there is always non-crowded space. Kindani's slide and play area are better for kids though.

We are staying at Jambo on rented points in a studio. I will most likely want to do a load of laundry midweek (8 night trip). Where is the laundry room and is it free for DVC? I remember it being free when we rented points at BWV

We stay in larger villas so we use the washer/dryer in the villa, but yes, there’s a laundry room for the DVC villas on the 5th floor on Zebra trail & it’s free I believe. https://www.disboards.com/threads/akv-jambo-house-laundry-room.3558686/

Perfect. I was worried we would have to walk over to Kidani to do laundry since that's the true DVC resort. Glad to see they have a laundry room on the 5th floor for Jambo DVC.
Jambo house AKV also is true DVC but I'm guessing you mean stand alone vs mixed use. It was the 1st for AKV actually, it's just converted rooms like CCV or the original PVB.

Yes that’s what I mean. It’ll be our first stay so we are looking forward to it!

I have a studio booked at Kidani savanna view. There is a 1 bed value available the same day. DH wants a 1 bed and it's only 4 points more. But we are going for my son's birthday and he really really wants a savanna view. Thoughts on if there's a high probability of seeing animals from a 1 bed value? The 1 bed value is at Jambo the studio is at Kidani. For someone who has never stayed is Jambo or Kidani better? One thing is DH really dislikes African food. So is either one better than the other for someone who wants more traditional food?

There's definetely more food choices at Jambo! Kidani only has Sanaa. The breakfasts at both are pretty much American food. Sanaa at Kidani has the Indian bread service for lunch/dinner which is really popular so I would say Sanaa and Jiko are more authentic African, but the rest (Boma, Mara, Sanaa breakfast have a lot of American options) I've never stayed in a value room so I can't answer to the rest!
