now that is a great birthday present!!

I agree! I was so surprised!

Sweet! I'm on my phone can't see tickers : / when are you going??

May 4th - 11th! I couldn't believe when he gave me the go-ahead to plan it! I've been pestering him for a couple of weeks now and he's kept saying no-no-no. I guess I know why now! :upsidedow

The dates are tentative, though - he hasn't heard back from his boss yet if the days were approved. Keep your fingers crossed for me! :hyper:

TiffanyS,

Good for you and your family. I had so much fun planning our first trip and began about 1 1/2 years before the actual trip. I have now begun planning our second trip!!! Have fun!!

We are going in 2014. No clue what dates. I'm thinking spring or first week after Thanksgiving. It will be a multiple family trip. My fam, my parents, my bro and his fan, my sister and her husband. It will be a first trip for DS1, but he'll be 3 when we go. My mom wants to stay at Beach Club. My brother wants to spend as little money as possible. I'm thinking we will stay at a Value for most of the trip and then tack on a few nights at Beach Club by renting points at the end. I couldn't afford Beach Club for more than three nights anyway.

Does Beach Club studios book up fast? Is this one that has to be done 11 months out? I'm sure that's the case during Food and Wine, but I'm asking about other times of the year.

Hi, fellow 2014ers! Sorry I disappeared... I was on the old thread...

  • Dates: May 15-22, 2014 (8 days/7 nights)
  • Resort: Art of Animation's Little Mermaid Standard Room
  • Guests: Myself and my best friend (we're online pen pals meeting at Disney!) ((we're early 20s by the way))
  • Budget: 4K total (2K each) - hotel, airfare, tickets, food, photopass, tips, souvenirs for both of us

I've just begun planning ADRs... :upsidedow

Breakfasts: Crystal Palace and Cape May Cafe
Lunches: Les Chefs de France and Sci-Fi Drive In Theater
Dinners: T-Rex Cafe, Be Our Guest, Via Napoli, Sanaa

Non-ADRs...
Breakfasts: cereal in the hotel (saving $)
Lunches: Be Our Guest, Columbia Harbor House, Flame Tree BBQ, Sunshine Seasons
Dinners: Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe, Lotus Blossom Cafe, Catalina Eddie's (or any QS near Fantasmic! - suggestions?)

We've moved our 2014 date!

Still girls only trip -- Still AOA resort -- Now May 3rd through 10th!

Hubby & boys decided they wanted to take a beach vacation in August so we're moving the girls trip up to May so we can go to Disney AND go on the beach vacation! :rotfl:

(Not to mention the fact that I was reading a few "August in Florida" threads and the heat / humidity factor was giving me the willies!!)

I haven't a clue about BCV and how soon you'd need to book. :confused3 Are you a DVC member? Is BC your home resort?

:welcome: Glad you found the new thread! Your ADRs look great so far - no harm in planning early. :teeth: I'll get you added to the list.

As far as a QS in HS, we usually eat at ABC Commissary (which gets not-so-great reviews here, but we've never had an issue there).

Oooh how exciting - two vacations to plan! August in Florida ... ummm yeah, it's not so pleasant. :scared: We've been in August, September, October, and November. Late Summer is hot, hot, hot! :crazy2: Any idea what beach you'll be going to? :beach:

I'll update your info. ::yes::

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina!

Found a nice 3 bedroom oceanfront condo for $1300 for a 7-day stay. Not bad for August.

I highly recommend using Swagbucks or MyPoints to pay for T-Rex to save dining credits. I was able to pay for our meal, for my family of 4, including our tip woth the gift certificate I earned from Swagbucks. All I did was search online for things and was able to earn the points in less than a year so you have plenty of time!

We ate at Pizza Planet for lunch on our last trip and actually enjoyed it. We ate there because our boys love Toy Story, but the pizza was really good and I liked that it came with salad. They have tales outside too if you want to escape the madness of the arcade, but I don't think it's particularly close to Fantasmic.
