~*~The OFFICIAL 2014 Dates Thread - Come Join Us!~*~

I've been laid up with an injured knees this weekend and sat own to plan our dining reservations for our trip in Jan, 2014. What else can you do when stuck on the couch with your leg up? We're planning on doing the DxDP this trip at the husband's insistence. I figure it will be fun to try so many new places. Here's what I have planned:

2014 ADR Plans

Arrival Day: lunch at CRT?, Dinner at Raglan Road at DTD
MK Day: Breakfast Pre park opening at CP, lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern, dinner at BOG
Epcot Day: lunch at Chefs de France around noon to see Remy (not Sunday), dinner at Biergarten
DHS Day: breakfast at H&V, lunch at Sci Fi, dinner at PTC
AK Day:breakfast at Tusker House, lunch at Yak & Yeti, dinner at 1900 Park Fare
Cody's birthday: breakfast at O'Hana, Codys choice of park: DHS, dinner at Hoop De Doo Review
Epcot day #2: breakfast at Kona Cafe, lunch at Via Napoli, dinner at Marakesh
MK day #2: breakfast at CM, dinner at Spirit of Aloha luau
Check out day: Breakfast 1900 Park Fare

So much food! I'm not sure we'll be able to handle it all, but I figure it's worth trying once. And since we have so many credits I talked my boys into Cinderella's Royal Table!

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina!

Found a nice 3 bedroom oceanfront condo for $1300 for a 7-day stay. Not bad for August.

That IS a great deal! :woohoo: I haven't been to MB in years and years. My husband and I keep saying we're going to go, but we keep going back to WDW instead!

I totally get being laid up. I have been since the week before our last (disastrous) trip back in September. Look at it this way, though, you're getting lots done for your trip!

Your plans look great! Yes, it will be a TON of food, but if you plan accordingly and eat conservatively, you should be okay. Remember, though, 3 TS per day is going to take up a lot of your time in the parks. ::yes::

I have only one question ... have you done SoA before?

We have not. We normally do the regular dining plan and use two credits for CA Grill, but haven't done any other signatures, shows, etc. I've never been to a luau, but my husband has. Will we be horribly disappointed?

I highly recommend using Swagbucks or MyPoints to pay for T-Rex to save dining credits. I was able to pay for our meal, for my family of 4, including our tip woth the gift certificate I earned from Swagbucks. All I did was search online for things and was able to earn the points in less than a year so you have plenty of time!

We ate at Pizza Planet for lunch on our last trip and actually enjoyed it. We ate there because our boys love Toy Story, but the pizza was really good and I liked that it came with salad. They have tales outside too if you want to escape the madness of the arcade, but I don't think it's particularly close to Fantasmic.

I didn't see a T-Rex GC on Swagbucks? :confused3

It's actually a Landry's gift card. You can use it at any location owned by Landry's including T-Rex, Rainforest Cafe and Yak & Yeti. Sorry, I should have clarified that!

Has he been to a real luau, as in in Hawaii? This will definitely be a disappointment if that's the case. The show is nothing like a real luau.

I can only give you my opinion, and it's just that, so keep that in mind. We were so disappointed in the luau that I feel compelled to tell others so they don't waste their credits if it doesn't sound appealing to them.

Think very childish, dumbed-down high-school musical production ... on a young kid's level. The only part of the show that was interesting to us was the firedancer. You suffer through what seems like an endless amount of cheezy-skit to get there and that portion of the show, while spectacular, wasn't very long.

The food was not so good, either. The meat was greasy, the wine was very cheap. :crazy2:

Just my opinion, so take it FWIW. If this is on your "must-do" list, then by all means, go and I hope you enjoy ... maybe you'll be one of the people who loves it. But if it's something you're curious about and you could apply those credits elsewhere for a fine dining experience or something above average, I definitely would reconsider going. There are people here who do it every year, though, so this is just my .02 cents based on our experience.

I'm already to 100 SB. Thanks!!!

Awesome! I did the daily poll and the NOSO almost very day! I'm already working towards more points but I think I'm going to redeem them for PayPal to pay for the deluxe dining plan my husband insists on! ;)

Yum! I would save desserts for maybe one meal a day. That could help?
I also think CRT would be fun with boys - the princesses would love them! :rotfl:

My food plans... (these days are not in order - waiting for crowd calendars/hours/etc!)

Arrival: Dinner at DTD's T-Rex Cafe
MK #1: Breakfast at Crystal Palace (8:05), Later lunch at Be Our Guest, dinner at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe
AK: Cereal at hotel, Lunch at Flame Tree BBQ, Dinner at Sanaa (Kidani Village)
Epcot #1 (Future World Day): Cereal at hotel, Lunch at Sunshine Seasons, Dinner at Via Napoli
MK #2: Cereal at hotel, Lunch at Columbia Harbour House, Dinner at Be Our Guest
DHS: Cereal at hotel, Lunch at Sci-Fi Drive-In Theater, Dinner at CS near Fantasmic!
Epcot #2 (World Showcase Day): No breakfast/sleep in, Lunch at Les Chefs de France, Dinner at Lotus Blossom Cafe (subject to change)
Departure: Breakfast at Cape May Cafe

Eight ADRs, seven CSs, and four "cheap" breakfasts!

:cheer2:

Any suggestions? Would hiking to Via Napoli on Future World day be a bad idea if we don't want to yet explore the WS?

We are also doing T-Rex on our arrival day, for this upcoming trip in May and the one in 2014. That's one of our must-do's. ::yes:: In fact, I just made the May reservation this morning.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina!

Found a nice 3 bedroom oceanfront condo for $1300 for a 7-day stay. Not bad for August.

We're thinking of Myrtle Beach this summer. My sister wanted to go in August to celebrate her 40th b-day (July) and their 15th Anniversary (Sept) and we're all talking about going (13 of us total with parents, siblings and kids)

Just waiting for them to confirm because if not, I'm going to try to squeeze in a quick trip to WDW this fall :)

For our May trip this year:

Sat - our arrival evening is spent at Downtown Disney
Earl of Sandwich (dinner)
Sun - Electric Umbrella (lunch)
Sunshine Seasons (dinner)
Mon - Be Our Guest (lunch)
Columbia Harbor House (dinner)
Tues - Backlot Express (lunch)
Pizza Planet (dinner)
Wed - Typhoon Tilly's (lunch)
Thurs - Rainforest Cafe (lunch)
Flame Tree Barbeque (dinner)
Fri - Hollywood & Vine (character lunch)

For our May trip next year:

Sun - Columbia Harbor House (lunch)
Pinocchio Village Haus (dinner)
Mon - Electric Umbrella (lunch)
Tutto Italia (dinner)
Tues - Hollywood & Vine (character lunch)
Backlot Express (dinner)
Weds - Be Our Guest (lunch)
Tony's Town Square (dinner)
Thurs - Sunshine Seasons (lunch)
Liberty Inn (dinner)
Fri - Tusker House (character breakfast)
Restaurantasaurus (lunch)

We are only doing a single ADR for our upcoming May trip, and that is T-Rex. I made the reservation this morning. We'll be arriving on my husband's birthday, and that's where he wanted to go! :thumbsup2

Other than that, we won't be doing any other TS. Everything else will be QS, offsite, or made-ahead in our room.

For 2014, we will do T-Rex again. I'm hoping the demand for BOG will have calmed down enough that we can get one there, we'll likely do the Plaza and 50's PTC. Everything else will be QS or offsite, or what we make in our villa.

We're only planning 2 days at WDW parks this trip and 3 days at WDW parks in 2014, so many of our meals will be offsite for both trips.

He says a meal that includes beer is worth it...I'm not 100% sold though. I've never been to a luau, but I don't want it to suck. We just thought we'd try it since we have the credits, but maybe I'll have to make a back up ressie at California Grill just in case....

Yeah, I'll probably mostly skip appetizers because I have a huge sweet tooth, but my boys like apps so I'll let them indulge and only get one if something really appeals to me.

Yeah, that's why I organized mine by park days vs dates...gotta see those crowd calendars! I do like focusing on one part of Epcot each day! I think your schedule looks GREAT! I would Hike over to WS to eat because there are too many good restaurants to eat at, both TS and QS. Via Napoli is on my try list for the next trip so I think it's worth the hike!

Looks great! I want to try Earl of Sandwich, but well probably do it on a non DxDP trip. We were pretty impressed with the options at Restrontasaurus last trip.

Restaurantosaurus gets a bad rap in the dining board section of the disboards, but my kids loved it!

Haven't been to Earl of Sandwich before. My hubby really wants to try that one!

Thank you! :goodvibes
I've heard rave reviews about Via Napoli, and I knew we had to try it out...

And yeah, I wanted to split Epcot into two days so we don't miss anything. I've never explored the WS much at all, and I feel like having a 'down' day of sleeping in and then exploring the WS would be a nice change of pace!
