~*~The OFFICIAL 2014 Dates Thread - Come Join Us!~*~

Ugh.. It's a lot of cleaning, purging, painting..... :) We are running duct work in the basement and finishing off the sheetrock right now. We completed two rooms down there for extra "storage" (haha) and never finished the outside walls.... Today I am spray painting a the heating grates and the fumes are not fun! I am actually really nervous to put the house on the market. I am worried we will have a hard time finding a rental that will take us and 2 cats and a dog... Plus finding one in between both of our jobs seems impossible..... I just hope when it sells we can easily transfer to NC. We are going in June to visit and hopefully my DH will be able to meet with HR....

Goodness! I'm exhausted just reading that - you've been very busy. :faint: I will continue to keep my fingers crossed that you sell quickly - with all the work you're doing, I can't imagine you won't.

Were you asking about my Disney planning? Hehe... Sorry kinda needed to vent a little of my anxiety. However, as far as my Oct trip, it will be DH and I staying at BLT in a Lakeview studio :D I'm debating MNSSHP and we have a some nice ADR's planned for when my 180 window opens. I am thinking Artist's Point, Citricos and Flying Fish. We want to at least do Kona for breakfast too and maybe Kouzzina's....

How have you been? :)

I love Kona breakfast! So yummy! Those macadamia pancakes are to die for! Of course my husband goes for the Big Kahuna, naturally. I haven't eaten at the other places you mentioned - considering AP for our 2014 trip, though. :scratchin

Things here are good. Just waiting for the weather to break so we can work on a few home projects of our own. I have a whole list of things to try and get done this Summer -- we'll see how it goes.

As far as WDW plans, still looking into renting DVC points for next year's trip. My husband has decided he likes AKV the best, so I guess that's where my focus will be. I'm thinking Jambo House in a standard studio. Who knows? Our plans have changed a million times up until this point, so by next week it could be completely different. :teeth:

I do love them but I love all fireworks (comes from being born on the 4th of July I guess :) )

I do think that parade is one of the best - and since we taped it both years, I have watched it over and over and over....lol DD loves watching our home movie and even has DS(2) always saying "watch Disney!":thumbsup2

The parade is fantastic! Love the Grave Diggers. ::yes:: We got an abbreviated parade when we went due to rain, no horseman for us. :sad1: Maybe next time we'll have better weather and get to see all the shows, etc. (those were cancelled the night we went, also).

I'll say no more in case those who haven't been who are on the thread don't want to know. :goodvibes

We just returned from our first Disney Vacation to this freak snow storm here in Boston. Not fair, Not fun. I had to replace the sunscreen with a snow shovel. The only thing i can think of is "MORE DISNEY"!!!!
Pencil us in for early November 2014. I would love to book a 10 day vacation that overlaps MNSSHP and a touch of Christmas. I am now an obsessed DD!! :surfweb:

Hello, and :welcome: to our group! Sorry to hear of the snow storm - how much did you get?

If you're obsessed, then you know you're in good company here, right? ;) I'll put you down for dates & resort TBD - once you've decided when in November and where, let me know and I'll update for you.

Hello, and :welcome: to our group! Sorry to hear of the snow storm - how much did you get?:

We were foretasted to get 3"-6" and we got a mere 23" of wet heavy snow. It boarder lined on comical. The good news is that march is almost halfway over.

So in agreement in the weather breaking. I can see grass!!! It's in the mid thirties and I feel like I am in a tropical heat wave :upsidedow Once the weather warms up we are also painting the outside of the house... What the heck is wrong with us!! Oh yeah, DH and I detail oriented... It can drive a person crazy :hyper:

Our 2014 plans keep changing too - the only thing that is semi definite is OKW in Dec - and that's because who know if anything else will be available!! We are also going in January - and it will most likely be AKV (jambo or kidani who knows!) or BWV since we are missing it for our Oct trip....

I HATEsnow.... and I am sorry but not too sorry that MA has had more snowfall than us this year! (near the White Mountains NH)

From a fellow New Englander - couldn't have said it better my self! Here's to spring :thumbsup2

The parade, shows and fireworks are different during MNSSHP than they are on a non-party night ... that's part of what you're paying for. ;) They also have special photo ops and charater M&Gs that you can't get on non-party nights.

Well that makes it even better!!! YAY!!!:cool1:

He got the promotion! party: Of course, since I can never just make a choice without second guessing it I'm rethinking extending the trip. If we stick with the original 4.5 days we can use the difference to get started on a second trip. My son's birthday is early May and my daughter's is mid June, an end of May 2015 trip to celebrate both birthdays is sounding nice right now. I want to book the room soon but first I need to make up my mind.

Oh ugh! Are things warming up for you there yet?

I hate snow too! I love looking at it falling, it's so beautiful. :goodvibes But I hate dealing with it! Shoveling, walking through slop for months, plus the cold that accompanies it does nothing for me, either. :crazy2: It's going to be 68 today and I was out sitting on the porch savoring the fresh air earlier!

I can't recall - have you stayed at AKV before? If so, have any advice for me? From what I gather, Jambo House has more action with the QS restaurant, big lobby, etc. while Kidani is more peaceful but further away. :scratchin Decisions, decisions!

FANTASTIC!! I'm so happy for you guys! :dance3: :cheer2:  party:

That would be a hard decision to make, I agree. Will the promotion allow for two trips if you extend the first one, with maybe a shorter one in 2015 instead? Crunch the numbers and see.

I must say that saving up for our trip is so much more fun now that I've got a savings ticker :goodvibes It's just so much fun to see that the percentage we've saved keeps going up :cool1: We've managed to save so much by watching what we buy and spending less than we've budgeted, we'll be able to save it up in no time :hyper:

We stayed for one night in last December. I think if you are going to utilize the QS frequently try for Jambo. We had lunch at Sanaa and really enjoyed the peacefulness of Kidani. We are going back and forth too ;)

That's just it - I'll mainly be cooking in the studio, so I'm not sure how much we'll actually be using the QS. I heard the pool is better over at Kidana, but that it's across the parking lot or something? :confused3 But I know all the DVC rooms are on the 5th floor at Jambo House, so that's something else to consider. I like being high-up - I hate ground floor rooms. I don't know - I've looked at the maps but I'm still confused. I've been through a million pictures of AKL but can't seem to find many of the pools - most are of the lobby, unfortunately.

I just hope we can actually get the money saved to make this happen.

We didn't use the pool on our night there... I don't think it is across the parking lot though. They have interesting parking though. When we parked for Sanaa it was in a garage of sorts. I heard a huge benefit is kidanis pool is it is quiet. However Jambo has Victoria Falls lounge ;)

Well, in the effort to be frugal you could buy wine and drink it on your balcony for a fraction of the cost of the Lounge! Also what month are you going?

We have a third option on the table. I was talking to DH about it last night and after laughing his butt off over me planing a vacation more than 2 years (if only he knew :rotfl:) away he suggested extending this trip by 1 day and then bringing my mom, her husband and my niece along on the May trip as our treat. My mom and her DH paid for our entire trip in 2011 and she was so busy with race stuff that they didn't really get to enjoy the parks much. My niece loved WDW but it was too much for my nephew to handle so her best chance of going back is if we take her. Also, built in babysitting if we want to go out one night. If we went mid-May like I plan on doing then my mom and her DH would be there for their 5th anniversary which is always nice. Right now I think this is the front runner.

If everything goes according to plan then I'll be going back to work September 2014 when DD starts school and we're looking to buy a house in 2016 so I've been running numbers for every possible scenario I can think of.

October, so during F&W. ::yes:: That's the plan for the moment, anyway. :lmao:

This sounds so generous of you. What a nice thing to do for your family. :flower3: That plan sounds great, and the built-in babysitting is the icing on the cake.
