~*~The OFFICIAL 2014 Dates Thread - Come Join Us!~*~

:welcome: to the group! Glad you decided to join us!

I've never been in the 'World for the holidays - any holiday! I know from reading the TPAS board that NYE can be very, very crowded in MK, so be sure to plan ahead and get there early if you're wanting to celebrate there.

I'll get you added to the list! Meanwhile, we'd love to get to know you, so join the conversation! :hyper:

Thanks for the welcome! We have been during the holiday season a bunch of times in the past if that counts as a holiday :laughing:

We are well aware of the type of crowds we have to brave our first few nights there but we really wanna be in WDW for NYE and we figure as the week goes on it should clear out alittle. We have done Presidents Week a lot too and while this will be busier we are at least no strangers to crowds.

Our plans for NYE is to go to EPCOT actually! I am a huge Illuminations fan and there is something magical about ringing in the New Year in a bunch of different counties ;) Also, we heard that since EPCOT has the largest capacity, it is the last park to close on NYE. Also also, since we are staying at WL we will be able to sneak over to the Contemporary or Poly or GF and see the MK firework show the night before!

Sounds like you have things all figured out! :thumbsup2 I do think it's a great plan to go to EP considering the larger capacity as compared to MK.

How do you like VWL? The resort itself looks absolutely gorgeous!

We love it!

Funny story about it, its been my family's home base since 2002 when we bought DC, but we never stayed there! My family just always perferred FW and they didn't like the idea of being in a hotel with hallways and not having all of the privacy you do at FW. But finally in 2009 we decided to try somewhere new because as nice as FW was it got too boring for us. It got too spaced out and it is just too hard to get to other places using WDW transportation. Don't get me wrong we still LOVE FW, it just doesnt fit the vacations we take anymore.

So in 2009 we wanted to try the Beach Club because there is so much to do right there and EPCOT is our favorite park. But, it was booked and the only DVC resort that wasnt booked was SSR, so we decided to try that out because it was close to DTD with a lot to do. We ended up loving SSR! Like I mentioned above, my parents don't like hallways and being quiete for some reason  So SSR is nice since it has the outside entries.

In 2010 we moved to another resort however because we had to try out BLT. Of course that was amazing but alittle too pricey to do often  So in 2011 we went back to SSR and loved it again!

So now WL comes into the story (all of that info was probably pointless but I just think its funny how we avoided our home resort for so long). We went down in June of 2012 for my graduatio and of course we wanted to do BLT since Id be with a friend and we wanted a place with easy access to everything. However, we could only get BLT for 4 of the 5 nights we wanted and so we had to go with WL.

We fell in love! I think for my family it had a lot of the aspects we loved about FW while not being so huge and being slightly more convinent. My mom is someone who loves WDW but never really expresses her opinions about where we stay or where we eat but when we left WL she said its her favorite resort that we have stayed at so that is saying a lot! For me, I think there is also something magical about actually staying at your home resort! Yeah so we absolutely love it and have no idea now why it took so long for us to try it out. It is beutiful.

We loved our stay at WL!!

Also, I have never been for NYE, but we have arrived New Years Day! We had a lot of fun! It was crowded, but with a good plan we did everything we wanted with minimal waits. And it was so nice to see all the Christmas stuff ~ decorations, the Christmas parades at MK and AK, Osborne Lights, the castle all lit up ~ it was all so magical!! I hope one day we can go back again during the holidays.

:welcome: to the group! We're glad to have you!

Have you ever been to MNSSHP before? Plan on wearing costumes? Any idea where you're staying? We need details! :hyper:

I'll add you onto the October list as dates/resort TBD - once you get your dates figured out, be sure to post so I can update.

Meanwhile, join in the conversation! :hyper2:

I have never been to MNSSHP before but think it would be so much fun. YES I would totally dress up but dont know what yet. My little guy changes his "obsessions" lol from year to year so we would have to wait and see. Would love to do something that all three of us (DH,DS and I) could do together as a group! Has anyone else ever been? Would love to know what you that?

We went to MNSSHP for the first time last year and there were a LOT of people dressed up on the night we went. We just wore themed t-shirts (my husband wore Jack Skellington and I wore Sally), but there were some who really got into it and were in full-on costumes. Very cool to be in the MK with tons of people in costume. ::yes::

We've gone the past 2 years and I love it! I really enjoy the halloween parade. I wanted DH to dress up (DD really tried to convince him!) but couldn't get him too so DD and I did mermaid makeovers at the Pirates League that day and I just wore an Ariel tee (from AoA) with a skirt while DD wore her Ariel dress (had dinner at CRT right in between PL and MNSSHP) and DS was Jake (from Neverland Pirates).

The fireworks are pretty spectacular, also, don't ya think? ::yes::

At 499 days out, you can make a reservation over the phone only for room-only.

We are well under the 499 days, my sister is looking at January 2014. I just wish she could compare prices online first. Any idea when they will let you book online for 2014?

Howdy everyone! I've been a little absent lately. I finally finished my TR from December and have been planning my Oct trip and have been obsessively working on our house...

However, my 2014 trips are on the brain! The more and more I plan for October the more I can not wait for January with my kiddos :)

You can book online and/or book packages once the rates for 2014 are released, which should be sometime this Summer. Rates are usually released in August, but they have come out earlier in the past, in June or July. :goodvibes

Hey! I hadn't seen you on in a while and was wondering how the house stuff was going. Do tell! :goodvibes

Ugh.. It's a lot of cleaning, purging, painting..... :) We are running duct work in the basement and finishing off the sheetrock right now. We completed two rooms down there for extra "storage" (haha) and never finished the outside walls.... Today I am spray painting a the heating grates and the fumes are not fun! I am actually really nervous to put the house on the market. I am worried we will have a hard time finding a rental that will take us and 2 cats and a dog... Plus finding one in between both of our jobs seems impossible..... I just hope when it sells we can easily transfer to NC. We are going in June to visit and hopefully my DH will be able to meet with HR....

Were you asking about my Disney planning? Hehe... Sorry kinda needed to vent a little of my anxiety. However, as far as my Oct trip, it will be DH and I staying at BLT in a Lakeview studio :D I'm debating MNSSHP and we have a some nice ADR's planned for when my 180 window opens. I am thinking Artist's Point, Citricos and Flying Fish. We want to at least do Kona for breakfast too and maybe Kouzzina's....

How have you been? :)

We just returned from our first Disney Vacation to this freak snow storm here in Boston. Not fair, Not fun. I had to replace the sunscreen with a snow shovel. The only thing i can think of is "MORE DISNEY"!!!!
Pencil us in for early November 2014. I would love to book a 10 day vacation that overlaps MNSSHP and a touch of Christmas. I am now an obsessed DD!! :surfweb:

I do love them but I love all fireworks (comes from being born on the 4th of July I guess :) )

I do think that parade is one of the best - and since we taped it both years, I have watched it over and over and over....lol DD loves watching our home movie and even has DS(2) always saying "watch Disney!":thumbsup2

That all sounds so wonderful. DH doesnt really like to dress up but I have a year and a half to convince him...lol! Maybe he and DS can dress up as something fun together! Are the parades and shows different during this time of year. That will be a plus, we have been the past two years and Feb so a change in the entertainment would be cool. Although when I am there it doesnt matter....I just love it so!!

I would loooooove to go to MNSSHP! I'm so envious of ya'll who are able to go in the fall. Have fun for me when you go! :goodvibes

The parade, shows and fireworks are different during MNSSHP than they are on a non-party night ... that's part of what you're paying for. ;) They also have special photo ops and charater M&Gs that you can't get on non-party nights.
