~*~The OFFICIAL 2014 Dates Thread - Come Join Us!~*~

As for my plans - no updates for now. Still up in the air about everything - I'm even thinking about moving the dates up from November. I'm concerned about taking DD out of school even though she'll only be in the first week and I saw the 2014-2015 calendar and she will have 2 scheduled days off the first week so she'd only be missing 3 days - and I like the idea of going to MNSSHP and MVMCP. But then I thought about maybe going the week before Easter because they have that off instead of the week after for this upcoming year and DD's birthday falls in that week but then I'm worried about the crowds...
And then there's the fact that my job is only gauranteed (sorry spelling?) until next July...after that who knows so I'd like to do the trip before then just in case...
So yes, I'm driving DH nuts right now!:rotfl2:

AFAIK, FP+ is tied into the whole MDE (My Disney Experience) you can access on the WDW website. You'll be able to, at a glance, see all your reservations, share them with other people who are also in your travel group, etc. You'll also be able to schedule ride-times, I believe it's up to 3 per day, at a single park. If you use FP+, you will not have access to regular FP for that park (ie: if you schedule your rides for MK, you can't use FP in MK, but if you hop over to say AK, you could use regular FP there on the same day). So in that regard, it is one or the other. It is pure speculation whether or not "regular" FP will remain, or whether FP+ will be the only FP available in the future.

At this time, AFAIK, no "official" word has been rolled out about how it will all work - this is just what I've been able to gather from the myriad of threads on the TPAS board (which could have all changed since the last time I read them all :crazy2: ). In other words, at this point in time, it is all speculation and conjecture and nobody really knows for sure until the official roll-outs begin (which are supposed to be sometime in the Spring last I read).

Re-reading that, it doesn't sound very helpful at all. :p Hopefully it makes some sense to you!

No, actually it is very helpful! Much better to read it hear than go through all the threads just to find out nothing is really set in stone yet!!

Jealous that you are down to a year. :goodvibes
I really want to make a ticker so I can watch it go down, but am sure we will change our dates at least a little and I would hate for my ticker to be wrong. :rotfl2:

Off to find your ptr. :thumbsup2

I"m the same way!! I hope to know our dates SOON!

So yes, I'm driving DH nuts right now!:rotfl2:

I feel you...I never have any trouble telling other people that I think it is no big deal to take their kids out for a family vacation...but I have a problem when it is my kid!! I just found out that we will probably have a fall break next school year (it was cut out this year) and I would sooooooooo love to bump our 2014 trip to October 2013! But, I already have gotten used to the fact of waiting, and I'm crossing my fingers that the Snow White roller coaster (whatever it is called) will be open by the time we go!

You'll love MNSSHP! Are you planning to dress up? It's very cool to see so many people in costume. :goodvibes

Don't know about an actual costume, but I'll definitely have something with a Halloween theme. We'll see!

Ha! True. I am going to change my wardrobe for the next trip though. I wore all Disney shirts and got no attention. DH wore Cleveland Browns shirts and people were talking to him constantly. He was laughing at me the whole time. So next time, I am wearing Buckeye gear. Of course, it might need to be NEW Buckeye gear. :rotfl2:

You aren't kidding about the football gear getting noticed. When we went in Dec 2011, our family went to Epcot on Sunday and wore our football jerseys, and on another day we wore matching Disney shirts where each of us had a different dwarf from Snow White. Guess which day we got more attention?

We waited in line maybe 20 minutes at 11:00 for BOG. I was shocked and so excited! It was our last day and I knew DH wouldnt want to stand in line for long. The castle was so cool and the food was yummy. I cant decide if I want to do lunch or dinner next trip. Maybe both. :thumbsup2

I like your DD's taste. I am sitting in my Minnie Mouse pajama pants right now. :goodvibes

We did the dessert party last year. Have you done it before? It was nice to have a guaranteed spot to watch the fireworks. We might do it again, not sure.

Oh, good to know. I have us tentatively scheduled for dinner there but I think we all know that schedule will change roughly 9 million times between now and when I can book ADRs.:rotfl:

We didn't get to see Wishes at all last time. Poor planning on our parts, I didn't realize the day we did MK was the Halloween party and we didn't stay for it. That entire trip was such a whirlwind, we were only there 4 full days and my mom was rowing in a dragonboat festival so that took up a fair bit of time on it's own. DD was not quite 18 months then and was not happy about having her routine disturbed so we spent most nights coming back to the house early, putting her to bed and drinking wine by the screened in pool. The trip was 6 months after my father passed and right around the time that we realized that my nephew was going to need more than speech therapy (he was diagnosed with ASD a few weeks ago) so it was a much needed vacation for all of us but it wasn't really a Disney vacation, you know?

DH has handed the planning over to me so I'm trying to find things that I know we'll both enjoy or at the very least tolerate. I love fireworks, I'll watch them anywhere and everywhere. He doesn't mind them but he won't go out of his way for them so I figured giving him a place to sit and have a coffee and dessert will make him much more agreeable. I'm also planning on doing Wishes from Main St. after eating at BoG and if we end up having dinner at O'hana watching from the beach at the Poly too. I already know which flight we're taking and we'll get in around 12:30 so I'm planning on doing half an Epcot day that day and staying for Illuminations but it's Epcot, I'll just get him a beer and he'll be fine :) 4 out of our 5 days will be ending in fireworks of some sort, just the way I like it.

Just wanted to make sure you know--you will have a table, but everyone stands at the rail to watch the fireworks. I knew this going in, but DH did not. We had a front row table, but then people stood in front of it and he was a bit perturbed. But the view is great and it is WAY less crowded than Main St. :goodvibes

Another way to sneak in fireworks...hang out on the Boardwalk and you can see the high fireworks from Illuminations. We saw them accidentally last year, but plan to do it again next time.

Sorry I haven't been around much lately, everyone. Been busy, busy here at home. Yesterday we shopped for furniture all day and that's the plan for today, also. :crazy2: I hope we find something soon.

On the 2014 WDW planning, I think we've decided now to stay onsite. :teeth: I took off my ticker because for a while we were talking about going in September or early October as opposed to November, so I figured why have it up with the wrong date? :confused3 Hopefully we'll get re-settled on a date soon so I can have my ticker back! :hyper: I still would like to keep the same November dates so we can see the Christmas decorations and Osborne Lights, but at this point I'm not sure of anything so I'm not counting on it! :upsidedow

Haha, I'm the oposite, I'm so excited I have to have a ticker even though the dates aren't set yet :rotfl: I know for sure it'll be november, but the dates aren't certain. I'm pretty sure we'll end up before the date I've set for my ticker though, so the wait will be just a little bit shorter than it seems :goodvibes

Well, we finally had a minute to breathe yesterday and sat down with the calendar. We decided to go right after our anniversary, which is in October. Looks like our new dates are October 18 - 25th andddddd ...

:banana:We're staying at POP!

Very excited! :cheer2: That's one month less I have to wait, which is a good thing. ::yes:: Now I just have to get myself a new ticker and start planning again. :upsidedow

Yaaaaay!!!

My mom and I are going for my birthday in May :D:D

Hopefully at AKV if we manage to be able to rent some DVC points for it!

I want us to do some different stuff that we've never done before rather than just the same old, same old (though definitely still some of that as well!). Like a couple of tours maybe. Drinking around the world at Epcot.. which we were going to do last year but we just got started waay too late that day! I also really want to do the AKL safari with dinner at Jiko and a Wishes dessert party.

:welcome: to the DIS and to our group! Glad you decided to join us!

Do you know what dates in May 2014 you'll be going yet? If not, that's okay - just update when you do know so I can update the list. I'll put you down for AKV - if that changes, let me know.

Meanwhile, join the conversation! :hyper2:

Thanks! :)

Veeery tentatively (well I guess not many people's dates this far in advance are really set in stone, right? :P) 5/13-5/19. My birthday is the 15! :D

Thanks! :)

We just changed our dates from November to October, and a bunch of others have changed their dates as well. :teeth: If they do change, just post - it's no problem to update the list. ;)

You'll be there right on your birthday! Make sure you get your birthday button!

Definitely get your birthday button! I was there in Dec on my birthday and it was magical!

Oh I'll be getting a birthday button even if we end up going a week before/after hahaha. In 2010 we went right after my mom's birthday (September 3, we got there on like 9/6 I think) and I kept telling her to get one and she wouldn't because it wasn't her actual birthday. But dude soo close enough come on!

And in 2011 I went with a bunch of friends (14 of us) at the end of May and like 4 of us with May/June birthdays wore birthday buttons one day

The Barahona's are heading to Disney in November 2014 with my cousin and her family and my mother! I can't wait :hourglass I think we will be going the 8-15 and get My DH, Cousin and mother's birthday all in! I am going in May for a girls weekend and depending how I like the Holiday Inn Resort Lake Buena Vista we might go back or rent a house for all of us to stay in. As much as I want to stay inside Disney their rooms are way to expensive for a family of 6!

We are planning 3 days of Disney 2 Days of Universal Studios and 1 day of Sea World! Going to take DD for BBB and then to breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table! :goodvibes Because every Princess princess: has to get her hair done to dine with Cinderella! ;) 21 more months

Once you decide where you'll be staying, just post and I'll update. Look forward to getting to know you. ::yes:: If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks! We're very excited. ::yes:: We consider POP to be "home", I guess because it's the first place we stayed onsite. We really loved it.

There is actually a November 2014 thread going already - here's the link:

Maybe I'll get to do the one for October. :teeth:
