I asked my trainer at the gym her opinion and here is her advice: give up my last 2 long runs. She believes that I have inflammation there and that the long runs are going to aggravate it. She suggested rest, ice, ibruprofen, and alternate workouts for cardio(spin & elliptical). I think this is sound advice, but I'm a bit bummed about giving up my 12.5 and 14 mile runs leading up to our race day. (I hoped that it would mentally prepare me most of all, since I would know that I already ran a longer distance.) I considered just giving up this week's long run and wait and see how I feel 2 weeks from now when I'm scheduled for my final long run. Any thoughts?
BTW, I read online a little bit about KT tape. Any experience? Did it help? I also saw that they offer KT taping at the expo. Are the lines usually long for this at the expo? Would this best be done on Saturday afternoon?
I also have a 10k run tomorrow for a qualifying corral time. Supposed to be rainy/cold tomorrow, so I'm hoping it won't negatively affect my time.

Your trainer is correct in some ways. I would bail on the circuit training first. What I find is that form often fails when working in a situation where one is looking to move from workout to workout.
Then, as stated above, do not bail on everything just yet. I would not run this week at all then see how you feel coming into the next long run. I would think that you will feel good for the next run, but feel free to cut it short if not. Of the next two long runs, your goal is to make at least one and try for a distance
of 9-12 miles. I would forget the 14 mile run at this point in time.
If your knee gets worse, I would also suggest a visit to an orthopedic doc just to be sure. It is more than likely a soft tissue issue, but it would help settle your mind.
With regard to KTape, the line can be long at the expo. Try to hit the expo early or late to get the shortest lines. I would look at the videos and see if your pain is described by the PT on the videos. I would not feel compelled to try to tape myself pre-race unless you see your symptoms. Even then, there are several ways to tape an issue. The PTs at the expo do a great job.

The course was just a bit short so we ran a little extra on the road before we re-entered the park for the finish line. We did exactly 3.1 miles and DD10 finished with me with a time of 35:45

. I had 12.5 miles to do according to the Galloway plan. The weather was great but I just wasn't into it. My legs seemed tired but I think it was more my mental state. Just a crappy crappy week AND two of my chEAR squad had to cancel and can't come to see me run
