The Official 2010 MNSSHP- Tips,Tricks and a few Treats !

Someone asked about the MNSSHP tshirts. Two years ago they were glow in the dark. I'm pretty sure they were last year too, but we didn't buy them since we were wearing them from the year before. When I went to buy my shirt 2 years ago, they were out of my size, so the CM said he would go in the back to look. He found the last one, but I asked him what if he hadn't and he said I could go by Guest Relations (I think this is where he said) the next day and show them my bracelet and they could find one for me. I don't know if that's true now, but it's info I'd file away....just in case.

Last year (Thursday before Columbus Day) we got in line for Snow White et al at about 6:30 and we were the third family/group in line. Snow didn't come out until almost 7:30, but the CM's told us that would be the time. As soon as we were done, we headed for Tinkbell, then Princesses/Princes. The biggest thing was to have a plan and be sure everyone knows which way to go once you are done the photos.

I would also offer your camera to the photographers. We had the CD prebought, so I used both the photopass photographers and gave them my camera. I found many of the pictures from the party at night were blurry. Either we were blurry or the background was. Sometimes my camera did better, sometimes it didn't. For this reason, I make DD stop and take numerous pictures in front of the castle if they are done at night. Most of the blurry ones involved the castle.

(Free) Face painting does run a little when it is pouring down rain, in case anyone wants to know. :rotfl:

Rain can change the schedule, but you have already paid, so enjoy yourself. It poured 2 years ago, but once it let up to a slow rain, we headed out and rode the rides. We decided we were in Disney and we would enjoy ourselves no matter what. DD and I had a blast!

Someone asked about the MNSSHP tshirts. Two years ago they were glow in the dark.
A little OT, but I ALWAYS forget this until it's time to go to bed. My DH goes to bed first so the room is always dark when I walk in, and more than once I've been startled by my glowing shirt.

Honestly, they could just re-release the same shirt and change the date and I'd probably still buy it. I've got the Halloween shirt from 2008 and Christmas shirt from 2009 so it's a tradition now! (Two years can be a tradition, right?)

Thanks to the OP for starting a 2010 thread! :goodvibes

We are going to the Nov 1 party, since that is the day we fly down. (No way DS was missing trick or treating at home! :rotfl:) Now he gets "bonus" candy! :thumbsup2

This is our 2nd MNSSHP, but our 1st one was 5 years ago and we didn't see the parade or too many characters- we simply rode the rides :rolleyes1

We have a 4pm appointment at the Pirate League and I already purchased a skeleton pirate costume for DS, on clearance, from buycostumes.com.

From what I am reading, we need to figure out which character is "most important" to us and get in line by 6:30, right? When we do MVMCP, we always get in line early for Mickey, so I guess that is where we should head this time too  (As much as I would LOVE to see Snow White and the Dwarves, I doubt my guys would be willing to wait for a "princess" :rolleyes1)

Also, it appears the 2nd parade is the one to be at (just like MVMCP), but realisitcally, how early do we need to get a seat if we want to see it from Main Street and still see the Headless Horseman?

TIA! And I can't wait to read more tips as the 1st parties get under way! popcorn::

This is our 4th party in 5 years so it is costume time again. I usually cordinate the kids together and then DH and myself-Here is my question...
DH is going as Hercules-I keep looking at the purple Meg style dress but I am afraid it may be a little snug since it only comes in "standard". I can find other greek style costumes no problem but just no one that looks like the Disney movie-Which do you go with???

We are doing a girls weekend in October and going to the MNSSHP. I can't wait to see the parade. :thumbsup2 I was wondering if the adults get to trick or treat for candy?? :confused3

going sept 14! went in 08 and had a blast! as a 23 year old I got my face painted and got tons of candy and couldn't have had more fun! Watched the parade (2nd one) across from LTT area, and we were right at the ropes. hallowishes was awesome. walked onto MOST rides. Love how you can feel the excitement in the air!

I'm planning on going to the 1st party on the 14th so....Not sure if this question has been asked and answered but how will I know that we can enter the gate at 4:00pm. Will I be able to call and find out the day or morning before? Or will I not find out until I get to the gate at 4:00pm and I'm let in or turned away? I don't like the unknown...it scares me lol.

It says on booking website that you can enter park at four. I think they give you a wrist band so you don't have to leave when park closes

Ok, I think we are going on the 28th, and joy of joys my Grandma and Aunt are going to come along. They will be visiting the World while we are there, and while they won't have regular park tickets they felt this would be a better bargain for the evening plus they get to see the kiddos trick or treat and the parade. :thumbsup2

I'm planning a trip for 2011 but I'm so excited already that I can't stop thinking about it. I do need some advice and clarification, though, if anyone could help?

1) What's all this talk about "wristbands"? DH and I have never done a Disney special event. Are you escorted from the park after a certain time unless you have one? How do you get one on the day?

2) I know WDW has rules on costumes. Starting at what time on a MNSSHP day are you allowed to don a costume?

3) We may not be able to go around this time for a while again. Should we pick up tickets for more than one day so we can really see everything, or do you think one night is enough?

4) I'm counting on being around from a Wednesday night to a Sunday morning at least. Is there one day that's better than another in October (for instance should I shoot for a Tuesday)?

5) I noticed another post here that I thought implied that you can't purchase MNSSHP tickets until you have paid in full for park tickets? Did I read too much into this?

Thanks! I just love planning our vacations, and this event sounds so awesome! My lack of knowledge has been driving me nuts!

1) After 4 PM you will get your wristband as you enter the park. If you are already in the park, there will be a sign in front of the castle directing you where to go to get them.

2) It may not be hard and fast. You should be fine after 4.

3) It is almost impossible to do it all in one night. If you want to do it all, 2 nights is great. We did this, and I was able to relax knowing I had extra time to fit it all in. So for us, it was a great approach.

4) Friday and Saturday nights are the busiest. The rest is a tossup.

5) I've never heard this and it's not true.

in order to be in the park for the party, you have to have a wristband. Cm's will clear out the park by flushing anyone without a wristband toward the front of the park. The wristband will be a different color for each party night of the week.

2) i know wdw has rules on costumes. Starting at what time on a mnsshp day are you allowed to don a costume?

i believe at 4, but i'm not entirely sure. When i was a cm, i saw people enter at 4 in costume on party nights.

3) we may not be able to go around this time for a while again. Should we pick up tickets for more than one day so we can really see everything, or do you think one night is enough?

well, i'm going three times, so you may not want to listen to me :lmao: But i really don't think you can do it all in one night, though. There's just so much to do and see, even discounting the rides.

4) i'm counting on being around from a wednesday night to a sunday morning at least. Is there one day that's better than another in october (for instance should i shoot for a tuesday)?

i think they're all great :)

i know people who are locals and don't have regular park tickets, but buy party tickets. I haven't paid in full for my package yet, but i've bought two of my three party tickets.

thanks! I just love planning our vacations, and this event sounds so awesome! My lack of knowledge has been driving me nuts!

hth!

I guess I read too much into something (or just read it plain wrong) but it's good to know there's not pre-req or anything to buying a MNSSHP ticket early! Thank you both so much for all the information! This will help me plan even MORE madness!

mom2rtk> Is that your daughter in the picture? She's adorable! If only I were still that tiny and cute. *sigh*

DisneyFirefly> Three nights? I'm pretty jealous. I'd shoot for the same if I thought the DH and I could get enough days off. ;)

Thanks again! <3

Planning the madness is fun :teeth: That's what these boards are here for, to help people plan :)

And, well, I'm going for a week on a solo trip. The first two party nights, I'm meeting up with other Disers and then on the third, I'm gonna try and meet up with old coworkers. My work schedule's a little crazy, so the way that my vacation days worked with my schedule, I actually have twelve days off :lmao:

Have a great time at the parties! :yay:

Awwww.... many thanks! Yes, that's my daughter and Disney buddy! We did MNSSHP last year and are going back in December for this year's trip. So we'll be doing MVMCP again.

Have a ball at MNSSHP! I'm sure we'll be back some day for that one.... once I forget how hot it was last year when we went....... But after age 10, they really aren't supposed to wear costumes in the parks, so I'm sure MNSSHP will be come a favorite of ours for costume fun!

I actually think 3 parties is about what it takes to do it all. We did MVMCP twice in 08, but still missed a few things. Same thing with MNSSHP last year. We did a total of 3 Pirate & Princess parties in 07-08 between 3 separate trips. By the end of the last party, I finally felt like I had seen it all. :goodvibes

For all you awesome people who are attending the party on 9/14, how soon will you be able to post pics, or at the very least tell us about new meet and greets? We are leaving 9/20 and would love to be in the know for our party on 9/21. Thanks so much in advance!!
