The not so little things you get from DVC

Thanks for this post. I just love being able to be a DVC member. When we had our first stay at Kidani and walked outside to the Savannah I just got so overwhelmed I started crying. I could not believe it was at all possible to enjoy the wonderful accommodations we can being a DVC member. Some people just don't get it and you know what, I really don't care. I know the special feelling and memories that it gives me and my family and that's what counts. Walt was one amazing person! Thank you!!

It was refreshing to read your post - thank you! DVC will always be one of my most prized possessions (other than my hubby and kids ;))!

Great list! There are so many reasons to love WDW and DVC! :goodvibes We're looking forward to going in April and bringing our DS, DDiL and our DGS (who will be 8 months old at that time) for his first WDW visit! :cloud9:

Here are some thoughts about all the extras
1. Accomodations - A lot of complaining and knocking resorts goes on here. But ultimately, we have stayed at a number of DVC resorts and have been happy with all of them. We have our favs, but these are just great accomodations that make the vacation so much more comfortable.
2. Resort Activities - You may not take advantage of them, but there are a ton of activities for the kids at these resorts. You could keep them busy without ever entering a park.
3. Dining - Some say the food quality has slipped, but we still find many excellent restaurants in Disney that we love
4. Orlando Area - There is so much to do around Orlando - it is a great spot for vacation
5. Upkeep - resorts, disney property - it is still amazing when you walk the resorts and see staff triming shrubs, and general cleaning and maintenence what a massive job it is, and how well kept most areas are.
6. Golf - What golfer could go wrong in Orlando or Disney for that matter
7. Detail - Walking through the parks and areas, there is such an attention to detail, you can always find something new you have not seen before.
Other than #1, those are all available to non-DVC travellers too! You should make a list of the little things that are exclusive to DVC... ;)

Agreed. But for me, I dont think I would even have a clue about a lot of that stuff if it were not for DVC. My mindset would probably be to hit the parks commando style. DVC has given us the mindset to really relax and enjoy Disney rather than have a try to get everything done mentality. I know I can only speak for myself, but prior to joining, that is how we approached our Disney vacations.

I have had a few people even say they cant understand how I can go to Disney every year because it is not a relaxing vacation. Some people I work with who have gone once or twice to WDW see it that way.

Now that we go every year, we dont feel the need to rush around. I spent a lot of time this last vacation just taking things in. I spent a morning walking around SSR and LBV Golf Course - and loved every minute of it. Then went over to DTD to grab some lunch and finally got back to the resort around 2:00 and hit the pool. Having those down days really help pace the vacation.

I love that DVC gives me the opportunity to really relax.

Could not have said it any better... We visited this past July and it was one of the most relaxing vacations we had ever taken. People have a hard time believing it when I tell them we are going to WDW to relax.

:thumbsup2 We love our DVC too!!

Things that I love
1. Free laundry when staying in a studio
And I should mention that the plasma TV in there is awesome....kinda hard to leave and go back to the room
2. Efficient (IMO) of the bus system at AKV
3. REFRIGERATOR...don't care how big....no searching for ice anytime to cool off DH's Monster drinks
4. Savannah view...need I say more
5. Being able to get APs for the first time with $100 discount..
6. Meagan, the CM from South Africa that I talked with for an hour last year...I think she was glad to have to change locations with another CM...she kept trying to distract me by pointing out certain things on the savannah...nah, I can get that on the Discovery Channel....tell me more about you and your country
7. Having an opportunity to stay at Pop on our first night (which we LOVE), then moving to a Deluxe studio the next day, PRICELESS.
6. Having a TIW, AP or DVC discount--kinda means you are probably a WDW freak
7. The opportunity to stay lots of different places, each so detailed and special that it takes a lifetime to enjoy it all!!

We will be there in 29 days around 10:32 p.m. but who is counting :confused3

A few things I love about owning DVC -

* Having the ability to do laundry and store a 12 pack of Dt. Mt. Dew in the fridge

* Not having to search out a deal or discount on lodging

* Being able to take friends with us

* Putting my kids to sleep in a separate room

* The big tubs and in AKV the HUGE shower.

Agree completely with so many things. DH, especially, would agree strongly on the golf. And the accomodations-we never could afford accomodations like DVC's before. But I think the best thing DVC has given us is a sense of calmness and relaxation about our Disney trips, making it a vacation in the best sense of the word.

agreed with everyone.

WDW is a wonderful place and we are so lucky to own DVC.

every year we get to go to WDW. some people can only go once or twice in their lifetimes. and still meet some who have never gone.

still get the comment about why do you want to go to wdw so often - most of time my answer is why do you go to the beach so often.

at least WDW has stuff to do...

now like my beach vacation too - only prefer WDW. get bored with the beach in about 3 days - never been bored with WDW.

Thank you. This was much needed tonite. It is so refreshing to read a post that isn't bashing someone/something!!!

Being DVC members is quite new to us, but we just love it. It allows us to feel like we own a little piece of the greatest place on earth!!

We have fallen in love with the view of Bay Lake (with a nice glass of cold Prosecco to enjoy).

And quite honestly, we've discovered that the DVC family is very warm and welcoming. We've made only two visits, but have met some very, very nice people!

yay for positivity!!

I love the annual pass discount and the zero balance at check out:thumbsup2

I'm enjoying this thread so much that I'm going to get a nice glass of 12 year old single malt scotch and relax while reading nothing but positive threads. Cheers!:goodvibes

This.

And someone mentioned the food. My wife and I often joke that we must be extremely easy to please, we've only had one bad meal in over fifteen trips to WDW. All of our trips are at least a week, so that's a lot of on site dining.

It makes me think being easy to please is the way to go. The decision to join DVC was an excellent move.

I'm glad everyone enjoyed reading and contributing to my original post. I hope there is more to come from others.

As I was thinking about our vacation, I was just amazed at all of the possibilities you have while in WDW, all the options for resorts and dining (even if you go off-site). Everything is right at your fingertips, and to me the parks, resorts and recreation are so well done. I am more convinced than ever that we made the right decision to join.

And - like the other poster said, give me a week at WDW over the beach anytime. Or - if you like the beach, you've got Vero and Hilton Head along with Hawaii now!!!
