We purchased at SSR last year and are currently here, making our first visit as DVC owners! I was expecting a call from our guide, just a quick "how is everything going" or "have any questions" type of call. We leave tomorrow, after being here for 9 days. Do guide's check in with you during a stay or once they made the sale, you never hear from them again?

We initially purchased in 2002 and our guide never did a "follow up call" after closing or before our first trip. We are purchasing an add-on and he is our guide again...I am not expecting a call after this contract.

Some follow up others don't. Your Guide is a sales person and you already bought. Unless you turn up on a report making your Guide think that you might buy again, you probably won't hear from this one again.

I bought in last May ('07) and I have had 2 trips since then. My guide has never called me to check up on my trips.

My guide never called after our original purchase and she has never called after any of our addons that we have done.

Wait, let me get this straight. You are dissappointed that a salesperson has not contacted you? :confused3

;)

We have had 5 different guides over the years. Some have checked in on us, others have not. It's just the individual style of the sales person and whether or not they think you are add on bait!:upsidedow

Our guide calls and leaves us a message each and every time. My opinion this is part of excellent customer service. The call is not because she wants us to buy every time but stays connected to us and is part of every vacation.

I do not see this as a sales pressure tactic but rather her adding a personal touch on us. If there are any DVC guides out there reading this post may want to spruce up on the 10 items to always provide in order to deliver exceptional customer service. Obviously successful because we have had many add ons and all through Disney...her time has been well spent!

We think she is the best and more than just a 'sales person' to us but a DVC friend...

I have never heard from my guide and I am fine with that. He is a very nice man, but I much perfer a professional relationship!

I am sorry, but I don't buy the view on here that they call because they "love" you. They call to SELL you something!:lmao: They may not sell anything, but they are calling to remind you they are around and can take cash!:rotfl: If I have a problem I guess I could call him, but I never have. I call him when I want to add on, he takes my credit card and we are good to go.

our guide called during our very first trip and just wanted to make sure everything was going well. I thought that was a nice touch and good business. I believe DH said he called as well when DH was traveling on his own.

It something some guides do and others don't. I surely wouldn't be offended if we didn't hear from him though.

Our guide calls us before, during and after our stays. She also calls a couple times thru-out the year.

Our guide always calls us, leaving a VM message on our room phone, when we stay at a DVC resort in WDW. "Welcome Home!"

We also take the time to visit her each WDW trip - which also leads to add-ons each time. She isn't pushy, and we really like that from her. The last time we met her, we didn't tell her initially that we were interested in an add-on. She took the time to meet with us and chat (offering no sales pitches) until I broke the news that we were adding on again.

I send her postcards from our Disney vacations around the world, and she calls us from time to time to say thanks. When we call her for business reasons, we also take the time to chat personally.

It's a 2-way street. Guides are people too, not just sales agents. Treat them like people - call, send postcards, and they probably will keep in touch with you as well. Don't just expect your phone to ring.

Our guide never calls us unless we call him, and even then he sometimes doesn't get back to us for quite a long time.

They're sales people - that's all. They'll check in with you every so often (years), but once you buy they're basically finished with you. If you want to add more points, YOU call your guide.

We've had 4 guides over the past 11 years. Two called and two didn't. I have to admit that we have added on with the two that called, but not with the other two. The one we have right now is a keeper. I have to admit that I am a sucker for people that smooze me. And she takes very good care of us without being pushy. This past spring we stopped in to see her and to talk about another add on. We visited so long that we were running a bit late for an ADR. She called the Flying Fish to let them know we would be late and had one of the vans take us to the BW. The next day we added another 100 points. Thanks Linda!

I like the initiative. Shows an organized individual, someone with the attention to detail that I can trust to recommend or use again. Always with the offer to call if I need any help or to answer any questions. Guides don't need to sell, DVC sells itself, especially to current members.
