The "non-touring-plan-planning" thread... looking for the little things

... Other members of my traveling party include my 4yo DS, hubster, and my parents (because who doesn't love traveling with free baby-sitters??) ... And how do you just stop and smell the roses while at DW?

If the late hour would be too much for your little ones, give your parents ... and yourselves ... each an evening to close World Showcase. We love being in Morocco at the day's end and slowing strolling the Showcase just ahead of the Cast Members who are making the promenade glisten as they prepare the park for the next day. I've never been able to decide whether it's more magical to finally - reluctantly - depart beneath Spaceship Earth or through the International Gate. But, because we traditionally perform this ritual on the last night of our visit, both portals always evoke our surprisingly spontaneous vow to ... come back.

And, although it may take us a while, we always have.

Excellent suggestion. I'm definitely hoping to spend more time in World Showcase this trip. It's one area I've always neglected in past trips, other than a few of the restaurants.

My 3 1/2 year old loved playing in the Dumbo waiting/play area and the playground at DHS. It gave her a chance to run and stretch her legs without worry. We also rode the monorail to the Poly for dinner one night and another night took the boat to DD from POR. Those relaxing moments are what we remember the most.

The World Showcase has always been my favorite corner of Disney World. So I hope that you will be able to spend more time there during your upcoming visit.

And I just wanted to mention that the reason we've always begun our last-night tour of it in Morocco is because, unless routines have changed, the Cast Members begin their sweep and swish of it in France. So you're able to say farewell to every country other than France if you're leaving by the International Gate and to all but Canada, Great Britain and France if you're going to leave via Epcot's front door. We blow them a kiss.

I should note too that usually - by the time you arrive at its central fountain - all of Future World has had its evening bath and is so very, beautifully, shiny.

Wishing you and your family a wonderful trip ...

When we went last time, my son was 18 months and he loved the playground area at DHS. Those play areas are a must-do for little kids in the parks! Looking forward to seeing the Dumbo one for the first time!
