With no trips planned and my DBF being of an anti-Disney persuasion (he is also completely uninterested in my chat on the Fantasyland Expansion, how much I fancy a ride on Splash Mountain or even the temperature in Orlando that day) I have a serious case of the No-Disney Blues. I thought it would be helpful for me to go through it cold turkey, no chat, no Disboards and no YouTube videos, but I just cant do it! So I'm looking for ideas: anyone got any suggestions to help me deal with the No-Disney Blues :)

If you like Youtube videos, search for 'Phil, Emma and Ben' (elnicholson1) and/or 'Steph n Jeff'. They have done amazing holiday videos which is great to live vicariously through!

Or my Youtube videos - the link is in my signature... They arent as good as the above 2 and we haven't finished the set yet but its good to get through some Disney blues!

Find a different bf! (only joking)

Maybe it will grow on him?

DH has definitely mellowed towards disney with age and can appreciate it's many plus points like good customer service, nice restaurants etc.

haa haa I was thinking the same thing :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: no seriously the 1st time we went to WDW DH HATED it and I mean with a vengeance swore he would NEVER go back ..... roll forward nearly 20 years and we going back for our .... 15th trip !!!!!

I had to drag my husband to Disney kicking and screaming in 2005. This July will be our 9th trip in 7 years. Most trips have been for 3 weeks each. We have been twice some years and husband is more hooked than I am now. So there is hope. What about a 2 centre holiday the first time, i.e a beach and then just a week in Orlando?

Ooo I'll definitely check out all the YouTube video's, sounds great to me! As to DBF warming to Disney, I think it's a bit of a lost cause. He has been twice, once on a trip with me in the summer where he hated the heat (I can understand that) and once to visit during christmas and new year where he hated the crowds...ah well, maybe he just needs a few trips around Easter/October when it's quieter and cooler.

Leading up to mine and DBF's first trip I was so excited as I'd been before, he hadn't and just didn't understand my excitement. Lucky for me, now he does and we're onto our 3rd trip together.

Sorry your DBF doesn't feel the same as you  I agree with the previous posters. Lots of Youtube videos out there for you to watch and maybe download some Disney music to listen to. There's also DIS Radio you could listen to.

If you have an ipod, download some podcasts, lots of Disney chat :) I listen to them on the bus to work or when I'm walking around the shops.

I keep wondering if and when I will ever get back, last trip was 2008, and I have had a rubbish 2 weeks of reminders.

My mates car at work, we had to go somewhere for work and it smells exactly the same as our last hire car. As soon as I get in it floods back.

One shell garage I go to smells like Hess , with the coffee smell when you go in,

but I have promised myself a week in the Contemporary for my 50th. Just got another 7 years !! :rotfl2:

I'm sure my DH has humoured my obsession over the years and especially the time I have spent on these boards. However, as soon as the kids came along they were told all about Mickey and because they love it as much as I do DH has no choice but to holiday in the world :thumbsup2

When I haven't had a trip booked I spend time on here and by looking at our holiday pictures. I also tell DH that I will drive so he can have a few beers when we are away

As an addition to the posts, how about looking at some non-Disney type things? Like backstage tours, watersports, non-character meals? Sometimes the boys just aren't keen on too much Mickey Mouse and don't want it rubbed in their face... My DBF feels that way sometimes anyway!
Xx

Perhaps you'll just have to content yourself with going on holiday with your Mum and Dad for the rest of your life :) I'm sure they won't mind (....well your Mum definitely wont :rotfl: ) x

This is my BF all over again, I bring Disney up and I can watch his eyes glaze over. He did let slip (once) that he would quite like to go to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal so that might be the deal maker...but until then I'll just have to make do with continuous videos, DisBoards and religiously checking flight prices for last minute deals!

im tempted just to book it and tell him week before we leave !! haha though even if i told him 12 month before i doubt he will listen !

my only bribing tool is that he can go to daytona and do one of the driving thingys !!

My first reaction to Disney World was not good, all the gift shops, the fake facades, the entire make believe experience was not for me.

Then I decided to check my adult, cynical body at the main entrance and from that day on I have never looked back. Going on our 8th trip a few weeks!
