the Nikon ML-L3 wireless remote

Does anybody know if it actually works with the D5000? According to this website: http://www.nikonusa.com/Find-Your-N...ML-L3-Wireless-Remote-Control-(Infrared).html
it's supposed to work with the D5000, yet every place that I check that sells it (Walmart, Bestbuy, Amazon) never list it as a compatible model with the D5000.

I have some friends who are in the states right now, and will be coming back here to Mexico City tomorrow who could probably pick me up one if I know for certain that it does work. So if anybody knows for certain one way or the other, I'd really appreciate it.

Well, after doing some more internet snooping and searching, I found 3 or 4 more sites that claim that the ML-L3 does indeed work for the D5000 (one site had a person who said that they actually have the ML-L3 for their D5000 and that it works fine).
So, I went ahead and asked my friends to pick one up for me. I figured this might be the last chance I get to get one without having to pay for expensive shipping for quite a while.
If they are able to pick it up, I'll write back and let anyone else who might be interested in this item know if it truly does work or not.

Hmm, that sounds too pessimistic. Let me say instead that I'll write back and let anyone else who is interested know how WELL it works!

is the D5000 a newer piece of equipment than the remote..? if it is, odds are that it works, and the places selling the remote are using outdated info, that was published prior to release of the D5000

Yep, no worries. I've actually used it quite a bit for family portraits and shooting fireworks with the camera on a tripod.

I just got my remote today and tried it out. It does work great with my D5000!
