We began planning this trip at the end of our last trip, May 2009. That trip was a victory for me, as I finally got my Disney pessimist hubby, Chris, to actually enjoy the World. He began that trip sullen and brooding, and by the end was actually hoping to win the Florida lottery so we might stay longer. We were at the Poly, and loved it very much, but the Fort appealed to his outdoor loving self, and we knew we wanted to bring his mom with us on a return trip. I was six months pregnant on that trip, and we actually thought about returning the following Jan/Feb with baby in tow, along with our daughter Lily, and son Aidan. So, I began researching the trip.

Sadly, we lost the baby, Ava, to SIDS in early September 2009. It was shocking, sudden, and immensely painful. Adding insult to injury, both hubby and I lost our jobs (we both worked for the same company). All of this transpired in one month. We spent the next few months putting our lives back together, finding new work, spending time with each other. We learned we were pregnant again in December 2009, which was uplifting to me. Chris and I talked about the potential trip again this spring- hoping to go for F&W festival. However, I was consumed with preparing for the baby. She (Lucy) was born in August 2010. She is happy and healthy, and I am grateful to have her.

Chris and I decided in November to do a trip in January should he get the time off from work. He didn't find out until mid December that his vacation was approved, so I booked only two weeks from our trip. Needless to say, it has been a hectic two weeks, especially with Christmas too.

How did I spend my last day? Well, after Chris went to work, I got the kids ready. We went by my parent's house and dropped the girls off so Aidan and I could shop for some last minute things in peace. Aidan is eleven, so he is relatively easy to take places. Lily is two and a half. She is not easy to take to stores. Lucy is five months. She is easier than Lily, but still easier to shop without. So, my folks babysat for a bit. Aidan and I hit Wal-mart for some clothes for him. I picked up memory cards for my camera- and for Aidan, too. He got a camera for Christmas, and is thrilled to get the chance to use it.

I have been packing for about a week now, but I suck at it. I feared cold weather, but learned it would be warm all week!! All the sweats and coats are now out of the suitcases, replaced with tshirts, shorts, and some long sleeves. I think I'm done. I just keep telling myself that whatever it is I forgot I'm sure Disney will sell me.

I have printed our boarding passes. We are flying Southwest, and I am a little scared because I almost forgot to check in today. All of us got A boarding passes except the two year old!! Hopefully this will work out, surely they cannot let her board alone!!

I am now sitting here surveying the mess. I'm sure there are things I forgot to pack. We will be driving to New Orleans at 7:00 tomorrow for our flight. I'm happy, so happy it is hard to sleep. :lovestruc

I hope you really get to enjoy the magic of this trip and have a great time. So sorry to hear about the loss of your child, I don't know how I would handle that. From what you say about Aiden, this sounds like a perfect time for him to be going to the most magical place on earth - I'm sure the past two years were tough on him as well.

Good luck and I'm looking forward to a TR with lots of photos!

Wow,,sounds like a well deserved vacation. So very sorry for your loss.
Have the faith, everything will go off well for ya'll.
And congrats on the new baby !:goodvibes

So at the as I was reading I noticed you were from Baton Rouge, and the first thing that poped into my head was GUMBO !! Don't spose they'd let ya bring a pot full on the plane, do ya ?!?!?!

Hava awesome time !!

check your boarding passesone of them should have infant on lap or something similar. If not check with an agent at the airport. Have a safe trip wish I could go too.
Terry

I hope you have the most magical, fantabulous, awesomest trip ever! I am so sorry about your loss. This does sound like the makings of a great trip for Aidan...not to mention the rest of y'all.

By now you have gotten on your way...just wanted to chime in regarding Southwest. They will most likely let you all board together, even if the baby has a separate seat. But at the worst, families with young children are always welcome to board after the A boarding group and before the B group. So chances are good you will still get good seats together, at least toward the back of the plane.

Have a super trip! And don't forget to share all those photos on your new SD cards when you get back!!
