The Next Iron Chef - anybody watching

You are right, she does always look angry. I think the producers may have spoken to her, though, because I have noticed in the last couple of shows she seems to be smiling a lot of really big smiles.

I've noticed this too...:thumbsup2
A little anecdote that's a little embarrasing on my DD7's behalf. I must preface it by saying that this was right before Halloween and she was being a witch for Trick or Treating so her whole world was all about witches at the time :goodvibes
I was watching a DVRd episode of the Next Iron Chef and DD7 told me she didn't like Chef F. because she looked like a witch.
I told her that she was just really intensely focused on trying to cook fast and do well and that's why she is not smiling, etc.
Oh, out of the mouths of babes....

But I do really like her and wish all of them well at this point. I do think Chef Mehta is arrogant but it would be interesting to see what he brings to the table. Pun intended!:)

I've been watching even before they had the US edition.. I vote Frietag.

We love both Michael Symon and Bobby Flay.

As for this season, we're rooting for Chef Mehta. I want to like Chef Freitag but she just has the worst facial expressions. She always looks like a cross between angry as hell and smelling something bad.

:lmao::lmao: I know, she looks pretty "focused" doesn't she?

Do you watch Chopped? One of the judges, Alex Guarnaschelli, always looked like she bit into a bug :rotfl:every time the camera is non her. On the other hand, I love to hear Aaron Sanchez' feedback. He seems to discus the flavor profile of the food rather than personal preference. I liked him on the Next Iron Chef and and am glad to see him on the network.

I like Chef Mehta. I remember him being a guest chef on Iron Chef and losing.

So, is there any word on which Iron Chef (if any) is leaving the show? I mean who will this new IC replace? That would be a big clue as to what type of chef the producers are looking for.

I missed the last couple of episodes, but I didn't like Apple-whatshisname since the first show. He seemed to have nothing but criticism for the dishes all the other chefs prepared. Anyway, I don't even know if he is still on or not, but I like the older Mexican (I think) chef. The few times I watched he seemed quite calm during the competition. I think that is a trademark of all the Iron Chefs. While their competitors are rushing around frantically, they are just going about their business. Chef Morimoto and Chef Batali I particularly enjoy watching.

Yeah we watch Chopped! thats actually where my distaste for freitag started. She and Alex must practice their looks together! LOL! And we agree. We love Aaron.

I'm not sure any of them are leaving. I guess it's possible that Cat Cora might leave since she and her wife are having a baby....but I haven't actually heard anything about any of them leaving the show. :confused3

Ditto. I think that is one of the reasons I like him so much is remembering him from that episode!

I was glad to see Appleman go. The next one I want off is Mehta. Something about him really gives me the creeps. I have never liked Freitag she just rubs me the wrong way. I am pulling for Chef Garces as he is from Philly and I have seen him on local shows.

I was thinking that she was the one who may leave.

Did anyone watch tonight?
I thought it was very interesting.
I was surprised to learn of Chef Mullen's battle with rheumatoid arthritis...he's had an amazing career despite it.

I was so disappointed that chef Mehta made it to the finale. I wanted him gone! Garces has been my favorite so I'm happy he is in the finale.

I like Chef Mehta and am glad that he is in the finals. I would have been happy with any of the three left, they are all fun to watch in the kitchen. One of the things I think the judges are looking for is a different perspective on flavors. I think that even when they did not enjoy the entire meal each of the Chefs presented they seemed to appreciate the fusion of the ethnic cuisine that Chefs Garces and Mehta brought to the competition.I really do not like Jeffery Steingarten as a judge. Does the man respect any other opinion?????

DH and I love Chef Mehta!! He has a really fun personality and his food is always so interesting. We hope he wins!

Another one for Chef Garces. Aside from the Ph

illy pride that dicates I route for him, He's humble AND a good chef.

I also agree something about Chef Mehta (Sp?) gives me the weebie jeebies. Don't know why though.

I was incredibly sorry to see Chef Frietag go, but understand that Chef Mullen is probably the more qualified Chef.

Have to root for Chef Garces, although I was rooting for Chef Freitag. Something about Mehta bugs me! And I agree that Jeffrey Steingarten is an annoying judge.

I'm pulling for Mehta. IMO, he really goes for it, thinks way outside the box, and would be more entertaining to watch.
