Well we're living here in Allentown

And they're closing all the factories down

Out in Bethlehem they're killing time

Filling out forms

Standing in line

Well our fathers fought the Second World War

Spent their weekends on the Jersey Shore

Met our mothers in the USO

Asked them to dance

Danced with them slow

And we're living here in Allentown

But the restlessness was handed down

And it's getting very hard to stay

Well we're waiting here in Allentown

For the Pennsylvania we never found

For the promises our teachers gave

If we worked hard

If we behaved

So the graduations hang on the wall

But they never really helped us at all

No they never taught us what was real

Iron and coke

And chromium steel

And we're waiting here in Allentown

But they've taken all the coal from the ground

And the union people crawled away

Every child had a pretty good shot

To get at least as far as their old man got

But something happened on the way to that place

They threw an American flag in our place

Well I'm living here in Allentown

It's hard to keep a good man down

But I won't be getting up today

And we're living here in Allentown

In every heart there is a room

A sanctuary safe and strong

To heal the wounds from lovers past

Until a new one comes along

I spoke to you in cautious tones

You answered me with no pretense

And still I feel I said too much

My silence is my self defense

And every time I've held a rose

It seems I only felt the thorns

And so it goes, and so it goes

And so will you soon I suppose

But if my silence made you leave

Then that would be my worst mistake

So I will share this room with you

And you can have this heart to break

And this is why my eyes are closed

It's just as well for all I've seen

And so it goes, and so it goes

And you're the only one who knows

So I would choose to be with you

That's if the choice were mine to make

But you can make decisions too

And you can have this heart to break

And so it goes, and so it goes

And you're the only one who knows

Late at night

When it's dark and cold

I reach out

For someone to hold

When I'm blue

When I'm lonely

She comes through

She's the only one who can

My baby grand

Is all I need

In my time

I've wandered everywhere

Around this world

She would always be there

Any day

Any hour

All it takes

Is the power in my hands

This baby grand's

Been good to me

I've had friends

But they have slipped away

I've had fame

But it doesn't stay

I've made fortunes

Spent them fast enough

As for woman

They don't last with just one man

But baby grand

Will stand by me

They say that no one's gonna play this on the radio

They said the melancholy blues were dead and gone

But only songs like these

Played in minor keys

Keep those memories holding on

I've come far

From the life I've strayed in

I've got scars

From those dives I've played in

Now I'm home

And I'm weary

In my bones

Every dreary one night stand

But baby grand

Came home with me

Ever since this gig began

My baby grand's

Been good to me

From a town known as Wheeling, West Virginia

Rode a boy with a six-gun in his hand

And his daring life of crime

Made him a legend in his time

East and west of the Rio Grande

Well, he started with a bank in Colorado

In the pocket of his vest, a Colt he hid

And his age and his size

Took the teller by surprise

And the word spread of Billy the Kid

Well, he never traveled heavy

Yes, he always rode alone

And he soon put many older guns to shame

And he never had a sweetheart

And he never had a home

But the cowboy and the rancher knew his name

Well, he robbed his way from Utah to Oklahoma

And the law just could not seem to track him down

And it served his legend well

For the folks, they'd love to tell

'Bout when Billy the Kid came to town

Well, one cold day a posse captured Billy

And the judge said, "String 'im up for what he did!"

And the cowboys and their kin

Like the sea came pourin' in

To watch the hangin' of Billy the Kid

Well, he never traveled heavy

Yes, he always rode alone

And he soon put many older guns to shame

And he never had a sweetheart

But he finally found a home

Underneath the boothill grave that bears his name

From a town known as Oyster Bay, Long Island

Rode a boy with a six-pack in his hand

And his daring life of crime

Made him a legend in his time

East and west of the Rio GrandE

Why can't I lay low

Why can't I say what I mean

Why don't I stay home

And get myself into some boring routine

Why can't I calm down

Why is it always a fight

I can't get unwound

Why do I throw myself into the night

I'm on the outside

I don't fit into the groove

Now I ain't a bad guy

So tell me what am I trying to prove

Why can't I cool out

Why don't I button my lip

Why do I lash out

Why is it I always shoot from the hip

I cruise from Houston to Canal Street

A misfit and a rebel

I see the winds talking to themselves

And I can understand

Why is it everytime I go out

I always seem to get in trouble

I guess I made an impression on somebody

North of Hester and south of Grand

And so in my small way

I'm a big man on Mulberry street

I don't mean all day

Only at night when I'm light on my feet

What else have I got

That I'd be trying to hide

Maybe a blind spot

I haven't seen from the sensitive side

But you know in my own heart

I'm a big man on Mulberry street

I play the whole part

I leave a big tip with every receipt

I'm so romantic

I'm such a passionate man

Sometimes I panic

What if nobody finds out who I am

You went uptown riding in your limousine

In your fine Park Avenue clothes

You had the Dom Perignon in your hand

And the spoon up your nose

And when you wake up in the morning

With your head on fire

And your eyes too bloody to see

Go on and cry in your coffee

But don't come *****in' to me

Because you had to be a big shot, didn't you

You had to open up your mouth

You had to be a big shot, didn't you

All your friends were so knocked out

You had to have the last word, last night

You know what everything's about

You and to have a white hot spotlight

You had to be a big shot last night

They were all impressed with your Halston dress

And the people you knew at Elaine's

And the story of your latest success

Kept 'em so entertained

But now you just can't remember

All the things you said

And you're not sure you want to know

I'll give you one hint, honey

You sure did put on a show

Yes, yes, you had to be a big shot, didn't you

You had to prove it to the crowd

You had to be a big shot, didn't you

All your friends were so knocked out

You hd to have the last word, last night

You're so much fun to be around

You had to have the front page, bold type

You had to be a big shot last night

Well, it's no big sin to stick your two cents in

If you know when to leave it alone

But you went over the line

You couldn't see it was time to go home

No, no, no, no, no, no, you had to be a big shot, didn't you

You had to open up your mouth

You had to be a big shot, didn't you

All your friends were so knocked out

You had to have the last word, last night

So much fun to be around

You had to have a white hot spotlight

You had to be a big shot last night

Rawr, I hate how there's so many ways to get to one answer in Physics, and you have to choose the right one, because they all have different answers D-:

This Is Who We Are - Hawthorne Heights

Between the future and the past tense
Lies the present in the distance
So you think we're never coming back
Scoring points for passion and persistence

Between the lines on the highway
Lies the danger and the safety
You never thought this was gonna last
I always knew you'd never take it back
I always knew(I ALWAYS KNEW!)

"I know it seems like we're never coming back
I know it feels like we're never coming back
You tried your best and you knew it wouldn't last"
They were the words that she placed on her casket

"I know it seems like we're never coming back
I know it feels like we're never coming back
You tried your best and you knew it wouldn't last"
They were the words that she placed on her casket

Between the sadness and the smile
Lies the flicker of the fire
You always said this never hurt you
I always said you were a liar
With the all the towers and the wires
There still lies a little silence
Two hearts and one connection
One voice lets emotion out
I always knew(I ALWAYS KNEW!)

Instead of flowers like words they never mattered
Close it up forget about the sadness (close it up forget about the sadness)
He always said she should of stopped crying
But he knew at least she was lying down

I'M COMING BACK!(I'm coming back)
I'M COMING BACK!(I'm coming back)

"I know it seems like we're never coming back
I know it feels like we're never coming back
You tried your best and you knew it wouldn't last"
They were the words that she placed on her casket

"I know it seems like we're never coming back
I know it feels like we're never coming back
You tried your best and you knew it wouldn't last"
They were the words that she placed on her casket

Decembers - Hawthorne Heights

Lets to try to remember these days back in December
Our lives were very different
I was lonely when we first met
A small upstairs apartment
Driving through the darkness before they even knew you were gone

You don't even have to speak because I can hear your heartbeat
Fluttering like butterflies searching for a drink
You don't have to cover up how you feel when your in love
I'll always know im not enough to even make you think

Please slow down girl
We're moving way to fast for their world
We gotta make this last

I miss you so much, a self inflicted coma
The days drag on I never thought of running with their feet
And when i feel the stress, I'm lonely and depressed
I picture you in the dress you wore four weeks ago

You don't even have to speak because I can hear your heartbeat
Fluttering like butterflies searching for a drink
You don't have to cover up how you feel when your in love
I'll always know im not enough to even make you think

Please slow down girl
We're moving way to fast for their world
We gotta make this last
I know it hurts to feel so alone
I'm by myself, more then you can know

If only they were all alone...
They were all alone...

Please slow down girl
We're moving way to fast for their world
We gotta make this last
Slow down girl
We're moving way to fast for their world
We gotta make this last

I know it hurts to feel so alone
I'm by myself, more then you can know

If only they were all alone...
They were all alone...
They were all alone...
They were all alone...
