The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

My friend just told me she miscarried on Friday. :(

I hate that. :sad1:
I cannot even imagine the pain that a miscarriage brings with it. :guilty:

I'm so sorry. One of my closest friends miscarried a few weeks ago which has made everything really awkward lately. Things seem to be a little better as we are going out to lunch tomorrow. But it's been weird and sad for almost a month now.

It definitely sucks. I had 2 before Allison... I think it was worse too because they were my first 2 pregnancies. Just be as supportive as she will let you be.

Hi everyone!

Just checking in! Everything is going great so far. The only issue we're having is with sleep. Lily doesn't like her bassinet so far. She'll only sleep in her swing or when being cuddled. I'm not sure there's anything wrong with that right now, but DH wants her in the bassinet.

Here's a new pic:

She is beautiful! Congrats again.

Do you have a pack n play? Allison hated her bassinet, but slept in her pack n play like a champ. I spent 2 weeks on the couch so she would sleep! We put her in her crib starting at 4 weeks bc I was tired of the couch.

Also you can try swaddling her (not sure with the heat now though) This helped us as we held her most of the time for the first few days and then she would not sleep without being held or in the swing. It is hard but I would break the habit sooner than later.

Patsy, so glad to read you finally parted with that darn gallbladder, congrats! You must feel like a new woman. Sorry to read about friends miscarriage. I too had a BFF miscarry during my pregnancy, it really is awful.

Sarah, love the new pic of Lily.

Emma is losing alot of hair in the front. My poor little princess, born with a thick head of hair and losing it fast. She loves to sleep during the day and is getting up twice a night. Usually around 1am and 4am. Any tips to get her to go longer is appreciated. I had DD to the Dr. this week for a small amount of blood in her diaper. She just has a sore bum because she is p00ping so much. Loading on the A&D and giving it lots of TLC.

Lily is beautiful!!!princess: What a pricess.

I wish I had some good advice on sleeping. I could use some myself. Natalie is still sleeping in her car seat. We have it in her crib, in her room. She sleeps like a champ in it. She really doesn't like to sleep in her crib on her back. On her belly, that is great. I don't want to put her down at night on her belly and on her back she is good for maybe 2 hours. She has slept through the night a couple of times in her car seat. I know, I know, I need to break this BAD habbit. I am a selfish mommy who loves her sleep.:sad1:

Natalie is loosing some of her hair too. She still has some but not as much. I want it to grow back quickly!!!!

:( That's awful. I know it's common and everyone I know who's had a miscarriage went on to have a healthy baby, but it's still horrible.

It is sad, and I'm so glad I never had to go through it. I had that fear through all my pregnancies though. When I was 15, one of my older sisters had a fullterm stillborn baby, so I was terrified of that happening. She went on to have 2 healthy kids, but she never fully recovered from losing her firstborn. My younger sister miscarried her 2nd pregnancy, then decided not to have anymore kids. And my oldest sister couldn't even get pregnant and never had kids. So I know what a miracle my 3 healthy babies are.

:littleangel: Have you all seen this new icon, named Noah? I'm assuming it was added and named after the little boy who died yesterday. His mother posted a trip report about his wish trip. He was 3.:sad1:

He died yesterday??

I just started reading his trip report a few days ago... :(

I know. I think most Dr.'s ask you to wait before you try again, too, don't they? I feel bad for her. She wanted this. Badly. :sad1:

My cousin miscarried her first about 11 years ago. Her and her husband spent years, and thousands of $$, on infertility treatments with no luck. They got divorced, he knocked up his girlfriend and she was devastated.
She found out the week I had Lucas that she is pregnant, too. :goodvibes
Everyone in my family is now a firm believer that babies happen when they are supposed to... though it doesn't make a loss any less heartbreaking.

Ann- Thanks, I feel great! It's so nice not to worry about what I'm eating. I can't wait until I'm fully healed up again. Two surgeries has caused me to miss out on a lot of cuddle time with Lucas! Mom took him again last night and I'm still waiting on him to return for the day....

I just started reading his trip report a few days ago... :(

I started it yesterday morning! I skipped to the end to see how he was, and they were stating he was in critical condition. I subscribed, and got the update yesterday afternoon that he had died. There is a post on the 1st page of this board about it, with a link to the family's blog. So sad.

Sarah, she's adorable!
Sorry about the bassinet thing. Is it in your room?
Lucas has only ever slept in his crib and once I put a radio in there all his fussing stopped...

Yes, it's the arms reach co-sleeper. We couldn't stand her in the crib. Do you turn anything in particular on the radio? We're definitely going to try that. She sleeps best when the tv is on.

Piecey, I know you are going crazy waiting on Lucas to get home!

harleyquinn, she is adorable! Maybe you'll be as lucky as Piecey and get her to sleep on her on. I was determined that Katie was going to sleep in her bed, too. But I found out really quick that if I wanted to get any sleep, she was sleeping with me. 11 wks later, she is sleeping 10 hrs at night, waking up once to nurse, but still with me!

Dr Sears would be proud of you!

I'm so sorry. You know this happened to my friends too. If I can help at all let me know.

We do have a pnp, but the bassinet is just a mini pnp, so I'm don't know if that'll help.

My friend did this too, so don't feel bad. Her son got over it around 3 months...

december, I haven't been back to the thread in the last few days. So sad. I'll have to read the blog. :(

Sarah, the local rock station! I about died when I walked in one morning and he was laying there listening to Californication. :rotfl:

Why can't you stand her in her crib?
I think I'm missing a part of my anatomy that it doesn't bother me a bit to leave him in his crib. I seem to be the odd one out over here.

...has anyone flown recently with the need to carry formula/water through security? I am trying to figure out the best plan of attack for October.

I had a miscarriage almost 4 years ago. This was after over 2 years of trying. It took us 3 more years to have Natalie. It was really hard to get past it. I still think of our lost baby every October.

I hope you don't mind me popping in. I am not a "new" mom anymore but I love seeing the pictures of your babies!

Patsy - I took formula with DS and it was fine. Usually I had a bottle made up that wasn't empty because he drank some in the car or something and they let me through with it. Otherwise I used one of those formula plastic holdy things and bought a bottle of water past security.

I am a BAD mom. By about 4 or 6 weeks I couldn't take the sleep anymore, bought AngelCare Monitor, put him on his tummy and he slept like an angel.

ds12 only slept on his stomach. He would not sleep on his back.

Here are some pics of Katie from today:

Hey! Feel free to pop in as much as you want!! And feel free to post pictures of Alexander-- he's such a cutie!! :goodvibes
I'll have to post a picture of Lucas in this adorable orange onesie. Orange is sooo his color, but it's the only orange piece of clothing I've been able to find. :confused3

How are things going with you? I can't remember if you were getting an ultrasound anytime soon or not? My mind is mush these days.

MinnieFan4Ever- I'm so sorry for your loss. Like I said earlier, I cannot even imagine.

december, she's so cute!

I'm debating on those chairs. It's called a bumbo, right? What are they for, do you recommend getting one? Just curious! :)

eta..

ohmygoodness! I just realized how big Katie is and that shes only a few weeks older than my Lucas. He's going to get that big this soon? Oh, no... they really do grow up too quickly!!!!

Katie is beautiful! I can't believe how big she is.

Patsy - I tried the bumbo with Alexander but he was too chunky and his legs/butt didn't fit. He wasn't even big enough to hold himself up in it yet. I'll find a pic for you!!

Alexander is adorable, and so big!

I'm not sure what the Bumbo is supposed to be for, other than helping them sit up? A friend gave it to me-I probably wouldn't have spent the $40 myself! It was her little girl's, and she loved it according to my friend. This was the first time Katie ever sat in it, and I did it so I could email the pic to my friend!

I also wanted to get some pics of Katie on the blanket. Dh's cousin made it for her, and I wanted to include the pic with a thank you card.
