Was looking over the restaurants section last night, and aside from some of the reviews I didn't agree with:goodvibes , noted that under places to have a "quiet conversation", they listed Concourse Steakhouse. And in places for Special Occasions, they list Bongos (along with Citrico, V&A, California Grill, Blue Zoo and JIko).
Do either of those sound WAY off the mark? They sure do to me.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Yes, they do!

Hmmmmmm............................
Special Occassion = Bongos
Special Occassion = Bongos
Special Occassion = Bongos

Okay, I said it three times, and it still doesn't make any sense.

Well, I guess it defaulted to Special Occassions, when it couldn't go under the Quiet Conversation heading....

Yes, Uncle, something doesn't seem right indeed.

UncleR- I am from a large family and for those who are not, that means that quiet does not factor into my DNA. CS was the only place in 10 days that my DH did not try to get us to lower the volume :lmao::lmao::lmao:

The Zagat guides are always suspect, in my book, because they don't do the research themselves - they have people write in. They don't fact check, as far as I can tell, and so who knows what people will say - they print whatever they get. I myself am quoted in the new issue, and although I certainly believed what I wrote, it's only my opinion, and I'm no expert . . .

KC:)

I also contributed to the new Zagat. I realize that they are only each person's opinions, but I am very disappointed in the book. Instead of providing valuable information, it seems that it is just a generic listing. I took several days to carefully give my input. If I had not been sent a free copy, I would be disappointed to have purchased a copy.

Maybe we're missing something with Bongos being a special occasion place and Concourse being quiet? :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Got ours, too, and was even quoted on Expediton:Everest. Hey, immortality!

But, again, I agree that there were some questionable rankings, and like y'all, Bongos really made me go "hmmmm..." We've eaten there once, and it wasn't at all bad, but there are plenty of other options that appeal to me much, much more.

Obviously the criteria for sharing opinions isn't all that stringent, or else I wouldn't have been included in the survey. It's kinda like Groucho Marx not wanting to be a member of a private club that would accept him.

Still ... the "masses", whatever their expertise, have spoken. It's a nice companion to go along with a "professional" guidebook.
