The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

Awww that's sad to hear. I'm seeing if I can get someone over there to forward a little something from the vets. Anyone who is interested in joining in, please PM me.

Ranger Stan is a staple of the WL and brings lots of magic to everyone who has stayed there. Let's show him we care....

I, for one, will never forget the day we did flag family.

Our dear friend Ranger Stan will be out having knee replacement surgery in early October. He will be missed around the lodge but plans to come back as soon as he can. Remember him with prayers.........and I guess pixie dust!!

My thoughts are with Ranger Stan - I wish him a speedy recovery.

This weekend DH and I decided to make a spur of the moment trip back to the WL 9/29 - 10/5. We were there in January most recently - and for a visit each of the 3 previous years - yesterday I booked it - and we're leaving in 2.5 weeks! (trip #5 to the lodge!!!!)

It's happening so fast I cannot believe it - plane fares were tough to get with such short notice - we were getting quotes from Newark, NJ - to MCO of over $1000 for each of us! - we ended up having to fly into Tampa the night before we intended and drive - we're staying at All-Star Sports the first night since we'll get in after mid-night - I got a great rate w/ AAA of about $68.

Anyway - the reason we did this is because I had to tell my DS (he's 6) that I have cancer - I just blurted out - "lets go to Disney World!" - I think I needed the trip and it works out great

We've stayed on the CL the last 3 times - but we just couldn't swing it this time - and I know I could have asked them to arrange a bit of a welcome gift to DS - but is there a way I can have a note that I write "from Tink or Peter Pan" and a balloon or other small gift there for him on a "regular" floor?

Thanks for any ideas - and it's great to be going home - I've only lurked recently since I didn't think I would be going back so soon!

and I lived in NYC for about 30 years! LOL

re: the flights - I don't know what it was about 9/30 (or original arrival date) but the flight amounts are nuts (I should go check them again to make myself nuts) a day or two after and a day or two before were ok DH and I checked travelocity and expedia - there were some cheaper flights than what we ended up with but they all had at least one stop and I didn't want that

my DS's dentist and DH's rheumatologist are on Westfield Ave! (aren't allll the doctor's on that street - or E. Broad? LOL)

We were trying to do the same thing. There was only 1st class for 9/30 on Continental and that's all we fly. We ended up flying out on the 29th for an 8:40pm flight for just under $800 for 2 adults and 2 kids. (one on lap)

Looks like we will all be at the world at the same time! :)

Ha... my gyno is on E. Broad :) But yes, Westfield ave is the street filled with MDs. Actually, you know Mindowaskin Park, that's where I'm going after my wedding to have pictures taken... In 18 days! :)
I just moved to Staten Island a year ago cuz my fiance is a cop and he has to live in NYC. But I miss NJ.
Have fun @ the lodge, I'll be there on Oct. 3rd!!! YAY!

Our timing for our trips is similar - think we missed each other by a day on our January trip too!

I wonder why the flights are so nuts? We prefer Continental as well - oh well - I just didn't want DS to miss school on Friday - but it's only first grade

:earsgirl: We'll be arriving on the 3rd and we got the 7th floor honeymoon suite :) Be on the lookout for my DH wearing his yankee hat :)

We stayed at Wilderness Lodge for the first time and loved it!!! The location to MK is wonderful and the boat ride is a nice treat after riding the buses. :) We stayed in the Villa's overlooking the lake on the 5th. floor. We could see the water parade from our Villa. The pool area was fun for the kiddos.

The CM's went out of their way when our valet van would not start. The battery had gone dead for some reason. Even though it took them about 45 minutes to get it jumped and pulled around. They had someone come out and talk to us and tell us what had happened. They even brought chocolate for our 5 kiddos and Canyon Cafe provided milk for our baby. We will definitely return again. My DH like Wilderness Lodge better than the Boarwalk.

The Lodge's lobby is beautiful! My girl's loved all the waterfalls and were amazed by the water in the lobby.

Thanks for all of your helpful post before we left!

Have you stayed at Wilderness Lodge before?

Have you done Flag Family while staying there?

If so, you probably had the pleasure of experiencing your Flag Family morning with Ranger Stan. He is the kind hearted man that has been doing it for years now.

He also does the lodge tour. (If they still do that anymore...)

Why am I asking? Stan is going to be having some knee surgery sometime soon. I wanted to send/deliver a little something to him to show him we care.

What do I want from you? If you have pictures from your flag family experience, please send 1 picture of what you feel is your BEST picture to me. JPEG is the preferred format. I don't care how large the image is. Send it anyway.

What will I be doing with your picture?

I thought I would make a collage of all of the pictures I get and print them as one image then put it in a frame.

Can you help me show Stan how much we appreciate him?

I NEED THESE FAST! I plan on hand delivering this while I am down in early October. Please email your pics asap!!

Please email all images to: wdwwl@majesticnetworks.net

Please make sure you make the subject of the email: "Our Flag Family Picture"
(This makes it easy for me to spot them.)

Please make sure you give me the name of your family.
As in, for me, it would be: "The Block Family" so I can put your name on the presentation card that will go with it.

I'm sending you a pic I love !!!

"Ranger" Stan is such a marvellous person !!!
We did with him both Flag family and the tour of the lodge in 2005 !!!

We gifted him a small calendar from Italy ... maybe he remembers his ITALIAN FRIENDS!!!

HOPE he will heal soon !!!!

THANK YOU Fred ! You had a wonderful idea !!!!

Ciao, Laura :wave2:

Fred - what a great idea and lovely thing to do. I've seen Ranger Stan but even though we ask to be the flag family we never get to do it - so, no picture to send you.

I hope you get a bunch of new ones

and I'll ask once again to be Flag Family when I get there on the 9/30

<keeping fingers crossed>

Ciao, everyone!
