Can anyone recommend the best standard view room at WL?

Nine of the Standard View rooms are located over Check-in and are located off the Lobby, on the 4th floor. During the holidays I would enjoy one of these rooms as the tree and entertainment would be right outside your room door.

The other Standard View rooms are located in the North Wing floors 4, 5 and 6 over the service area, they also provide a possibe view of the Castle and Wishes. I would request 6th floor for any of these rooms as the view would be better and you would be further away from any noise that the delivery vehicles may make.

Room #'s 4091-4099 are the Standard View Rooms over the Lobby.
Room #'s 4042 (even # rooms) to 4066 (plus 5th floor and 6th floor) are the Standard View Rooms that face Magic Kingdom.

What is going on with the room database that one of the vets was putting together? Is there a link to it?

I have a courtyard view booked for January and have requested the main courtyard on my reservation. I'd love to know more about the views. We've booked woods view before, so I am not as familiar with the courtyard views. Any suggestions for getting a good courtyard view are appreciated!

The room database we had was made VOID after the refurbishment last year, as many rooms changed bedding configuration. I'm not sure if Majestic has started over or has received any new room information.

In his siggie...1st post page 1, is a link that has photo's of many of the views from the balconies this will show what views are available from the Courtyard View rooms.

Thanks for the info., I was wondering what happened. I will check out the photos for sure. Although, it seems like it would be pretty hard to get a bad courtyard view! I am really looking forward to this trip!

Based on the map of the room locations, where are the VP and Pres. Suites?

Based of the map (which isn't 100% accurate but is very good) the Vice-Presidential Suite (Yosemitte Suite) would be located in the North side of the Lodge were the white unmarked area is on the map near/next to room # 7043. Located over Artist Point Restautant. This is one of the discrepancies of the map the 7th floor room #'s aren't the same as the other floors, there are fewer rooms and there aren't any courtyard view rooms off the Lobby ect. due to the design of the Lodge. The actual room #'s are totally different but the basic pattern is almost the same.

The Presidential Suite (Yellowstone Suite) is located on the South side of the Lodge were the white unmarked area is on the map near/next to room # 7121.

Both Suites are beautiful with the Yosemitte having the best view and balconies, the Yellowstone having the best decore and lay-out.

We would looooove a view of the fireworks and I've seen references to 4th and 5th floor rooms on the north side/woods view. Are there CL rooms in the same locations? And would I go through IPO for room requests or CRO?

As you know all the rooms other than the suites are considered standard Club Level rooms, this would be a request you should make with the IPO. Request room located on North side of the Lodge. I always request one of these rooms even though they are also over the service area down below, I just don't look straight down but across to the Magic Kingdom I love watching the Castle changing colors all night.

To anyone who has stayed on the Club Level before - especially Beckie ... if memory serves me there are no regular Club Level rooms that face the lobby, but I'm curious what kind of views would I get if I asked for North wing as close to the Lounge as possible. Last year I think we were in 7045, second to last room from the end, inner courtyard. I'm wondering what something like 7061 would be. Has anyone stayed in a room in that area? We really miss being close to the lobby.

I know Beckie said she likes the room overlooking the castle (but also seeing the loading dock). I just can't be sure if I want to request inner courtyard again or go for an MK view.

With the high balcony walls, it's not like my DS4 is going to be able to easily see the castle/monorail anyway, which stinks. What to do?

I have a question for one of you reservation pro's. I read on the dis that when the room assigners are assigning the rooms they start alphabetically, is that true? If so how would someone with a high letter as their last name get their room request? I hate to sound childish but our last name starts with a "U" and I have requested for our upcoming Dec trip to have inner courtyard, lobby facing room. Which will probably be a very hard request to have granted. Would it be to our advantage to check in super early to better our chance's that we get that location? I have never asked in all the years that we have been going, over 10 now regularly, for any specific room location. The only request I have ever made is for Non-Smoking due to my DD 9 asthma. If you have any advice out there I would love to hear it. Thanks!!

That's why I say Ronald Duck's Map it good, but not exact...looking at the map you would think that they have rooms on the 3rd floor overlooking the Lobby but the Lobby rooms start with the 4th Floor. There aren't any rooms on the 2nd or 3rd floor North side of the Lodge until after you pass the mid-point elevators due to the kitchens and Artist Point. So there are no Standard View rooms on the 2nd or 3rd floors.

If you request a room overlooking the Courtyard I would request the North side because it would give you a better angle or view of Bay Lake and the EWP.

While I love the architectural design of the dormer balconies when looking up at the Lodge, I would love not to have them when using the balcony on the 7th floor.

The view from the shuttered windows (open the shutters) just down from the Yosemite Suite but before you turn the corner to the elevators is a great safe location for smaller children to view the Fireworks, the windows are low enough for them to look out.

I thought you posted that you canceled your WL reservation and booked over at POFQ. I removed you from the December List...?

I'm not an expert when it comes to the room assigners, have no idea how they assign the rooms other then by the date they receive the reservation. My last name is S and I usually receive my basic request when I visit.

There are only about 21 Bear Face rooms (Courtyard View off Lobby) so arriving early would help your chances but if there are already guest staying in the rooms...there won't be anything the room assigner can do to meet your request.

Beckie thanks for the info. I was basically trying to decide if my inner courtyard view would be better closer to the main elevators (I guess 7059 or whatever room is closer to the Bear Face rooms) or the room we had last year, 7045 almost at the end.

We did watch the fireworks through those shuttered windows last year - they worked out great which is why I wasn't really leaning towards trying to get a room with the MK view. If I could just pull back the blinds and my DS4 could see the MK all the time from the room that would be neat, but with the enclosed balcony he's going to be limited to when I take him out there. I guess I'm just debating whether to be further down the wing (longer walks to get to the food in the lounge or not, especially come Happy Hour).

I am so surprised with the number of people who love this resort so much that you only got a couple responses! Too bad. I would love to know more about the views from the balconies around the Lodge.

Have fun everyone in December! I am jealous, I was supposed to go then, but couldn't get the extended family together until January. Some day I will see those Holiday decorations again! I haven't been at Christmas time since I was a little girl, and I remember how magical it was. . .

Our next Disney trip was going to be 1/09, when my wife graduates from Duke's School of Nursing. But, unselfishly, she is letting me take my DD6/DD4 to Disney this December without her, as she needs to stay home to study. The girls and I are so excited to be going this year, and our first time in December. Can't wait to see WDW at Christmas time.

Hope to see some of you the 2nd week of December.

Anyone have an idea for a nice Disney Christmas gift for my wife.

If you are talking about the new club level lounge (there are pictures of it in my Wilderness Lodge Photo Gallery. Click the link in my signature) then it's right to your left as you come out of the elevators by the concierge desk. (The elevators that you get on by the bridge in the lobby.)

That is too bad. My last trip down I had even printed out the form with the questions and taken it with me to make sure I got all the questions answered before sending to you.

Maybe you could request again before our December Disboard attack.
