I know this has probably been sanswered a million times, but I can't possibly go through 500 pages right now! What is the best area/room to request for a standard room? I don't care so much about my view, but if there is a better one it would be nice.

Yay!!! My mom finally talked to the other relatives that are coming on this trip and they've finally settled on WL for sure!! I'm so excited because I've never been there. Now I need to start reading all these posts to get all the info I need about WL.

Oh and our first night there I found out why the view was so important to him...he proposed to me on the balcony! Now WL will always be an extra special place for us.

Just back from a WL stay 10-13 thru 10-20. My first trip to disney in 21yrs...I was 6yo last time. I originally booked a standard view room but was able to upgrade to courtyard with bunkbeds using the discount code in september. The only request that I made was for an upper floor. My boyfriend had told me that he would really prefer to actually face the courtyard as opposed to the villas and wanted me to request it at check in...but when we got there a room was not ready and I didn't make the request. He was sorta bummed but we decided to leave it up to the room gods.

Wow was that the right move! We were in room 4079 which I believe is one of the bear face rooms I have read about. We got off the elevator and barely walked around the corner and there our room was! The door was right at the corner of the railing looking down into the lobby. From our balcony we had a view of everything...the stream flowing from the lobby down to the pool, we could see the pool and geyser and got to watch the water parade from the balcony too. Oh and our first night there I found out why the view was so important to him...he proposed to me on the balcony! Now WL will always be an extra special place for us.

Well, our package included 7 nights, dining plan, and 8 day park hoppers with the water parks and more option for 2 adults. When I originally booked the standard room the total cost was approx $3250. When I used the discount code the only room type available was courtyard with bunkbeds. With the discount I was able to get the upgraded room for about $3100 so I actually saved money by upgrading. Courtyard with bunkbeds full price is was about $3850. Hope that helps!

I am getting worried....I heard from another post that during the holidays they don't play the standard music in the lobby? I am going to be at the WL from Jan 3- Jan 9, and we LOVE hearing the music in the lobby....i even has some of the music as ring tones on my cell phone.

Is it true that they do not play the standard lodge loop during the holidays and a bit after new years?

When do they take down the decorations?

We are staying in a club level room at WL. We are celebrating my dds 13th birthday while on vacation, although it will be her bday about a week before our trip. When I called to inquire about doing something special for her bday, I was told that if it isn't her exact bday, they can't do anything unless you buy something from the Disney Florist. Is that true??? I wasn't looking for anything over the top, just a card or a balloon would be nice.

When I was making an ADR change, the CM asked if we were celebrating any birthdays. My wife's and both daughters birthdays fall within a few weeks either side of the trip -so I let her know. She said no problem, and would note the birthdays in all the ADRs and on my WL ressie.

Not expecting anything - so if we do get a card or something, it will be a bonus.

I do know that they play Christmas music in the Lodge during the holidays. I don't know how long that continues on for though.

It seems that it is possible to see the fireworks and the electrical parade from the beach at WL. However, is there a different beach within walking distance that would be more ideal for this? Or, can you sit in the hotubs and see both? That would be more than ideal!

You can see the electrical parade from the beach, and your viewing is ideal. It stops directly in front of you and there are chairs available for you to sit and relax. This was DH's favorite thing about being at WL.

Can someone tell me about the laundry room?
Is it usually crowded in the afternoon? We have had to wait for machines at POFQ before, but not at the Dolphin. I'm wondering how WL compares. Where is the laundry located? And what are the prices. I'll be bringing my own soap. I'd like to do our washing while DD is resting in the midafternoons, but wondering if after dinner is a slower time.

I also took advantage of the Visa code that came yesterday. I was able to switch from standard to woods view, got the free ticket upgrade and saved just over $200!
