Just a quick off topic note to those several folks whom I was going to meet up with while there at WDW next week and/or the week after. Long story short, I won't be there. :(

Long story long...

I have been having periodic atrial flutter (similar to atrial fib, but technically different) episodes with my heart for past 4 ½ years. Five episodes over that time, but three of them in past year, coming more often. Several trips to ER, a couple overnight stays in hospital. I am looking at getting a heart ablation in the not too distant future, hopefully by end of January, should fix the ticker

Not sure I want to take risk of going into another episode while there at WDW, away from home and home familiar setting (home, family, known hospital and doctors, though I am sure Celebration Hospital is great).

After my heart ablation, I am also looking at a knee replacement for one knee and torn meniscus repair in the other, maybe a month or so following the heart deal. If all is successful, I should be there next year for my regular December WDW trip. And possibly without a scooter, if my mending is coming along well. I hope to be there in April again, with my daughter Natalie and two grandsons. We were there this April for the kids' first trip, we all loved it.

So, don't look for me next week or the following, I will still be here in Chicago area, probably freezing :cold: while you all are enjoying WDW. :cloud9:

Hope to follow your travels here on the board. :coffee: Enjoy. :cool1:

Now, back on topic. :wave2:

Wishing you a speedy recovery, Dan! DH just had arthroscopic surgery for three tears in his meniscus. Same day, amazingly quick recovery. He's all ready for our January trip. I hope you will be on the mend soon!

Hi, Dan. I sure hope that you get healthy real soon. I will be thinking about you and sending good thoughts and prayers that your caregivers and nurses and physicians take really good care of you.

I will miss my travelling companion this year. I had such a wonderful vacation last December rolling around in our mobility scooters last year. I think that you have convinced me to eventually buy a newer Pride Mobility brand Maxima 3-wheel scooter.

Good Times, for sure.

I better see you next year, because you spoiled me last year with your company.

Take very good care of yourself, Dan.

Sincerely, Ray :)

Dan, I am sorry you will miss your trip, but very glad you are taking the time to get healthy. Your trip with Natalie and the g kids will be the best reward!

Dan,

I'm so sorry to hear of your health issues. :flower3:

Sorry I won't get the chance to meet you, this trip. You're smart to take care of the problems now so you can enjoy many more WDW trips in the future! :thumbsup2

I'll be sending lots of prayers and good thoughts your way. pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

Dan,
I'm very sorry that you will be missing your holiday trip and seeing all your friends. You will be new and improved for your trip next year. My mom had a knee replacement in 2010, and is remarkably better. She had gotten to the point where she couldn't walk at all, and now she walks without any pain, and she is much, much older than you.
The cardiac ablation should take care of all those pesky electrical problems you are having in your heart.
Best wishes for all of your medical procedures. All the wonderful holiday decorations will be there for you next year...and if I'm lucky, for me too!
Patty

Won't be long now......... Looking forward to seeing everyone next week!! :woohoo: Have a Happy Thanksgiving and safe travels to WDW! :goodvibes

Everyone make sure to take a deep breath while checking out the creations!! Mmmmm...I just loved walking by and smelling that chocolaty goodness! Hope we can swing another December trip one of these years. Safe travels everyone!

Although I will greatly miss your company this December, I want you all healthy for next December. It just won't be the same without you at the Disney Swan Resort and all of the WDW parks. Please keep in touch with your progress and heal quickly.

Ray

The deal I can get is great, but I am worried about the space (the boys will be 14, 14 & 18). We would have to do a roll a way bed, since we are flying - a first for the twins. The boys would love a limo, and with the saving we we be getting we could do it, :)
Will we miss the Disney magic? We are also looking at the Beach Club.

we just stayed there (Dolphin) after MANY stays at Disney resorts...LOVE Disney.... but Dolphin is now our #1 choice!:cool1: The rooms are about the size of a mod at POFQ, and we had no issues with 5 in a room, the bathrooms are pretty small, but we all know how to take turns... the pool is GREAT...location is GREAT -we missed nothing. I love all the resorts, but pricewise, there's no contest anymore.....I was concerned my disneyfreak sons would miss something, but they loved it too! if yOU have AAA you cab get dsicounts at some of the restaurants too...:thumbsup2

I know that the quick service offers a AAA discount, do you know off hand what other restaurants offer the AAA discount and how much it is?

I haven't checked this thread in several days, as I'm only now seeing this! I am so sorry to read that I won't see you at WDW next week, but I understand your reasons. I hope your heart and knee procedures will be successful so you'll soon be as good as new! :) I hope to see you next December - or sooner at a Chicago DIS meet! :teeth:
