As for Jake, exactly! He's not exactly HUMAN, but he's more humanized than Edward, ya know? Like, he's not stuck in the 19th century! He's more real, more sincere.

It's not that much of romance. Personally, it's more action-y, suspense. Maybe check it out from the library? Or read the first chapter online? Really, the romance doesn't kick in until Eclipse. Cuz in New Moon, there's like ZERO romance. It's all friendship, adventure, and suspense. Give it a try, at least!
