the way the news story describes it, wait here till it is your turn, is waiting in line while milling about, like muppet vision, ellen, little mermaid or the worst one, Shrek...... with "things" to do. when i first heard about this i understood it to be more like, this is your number, this is your area, if you are not here with the rest of the folks when we call this number you are out of luck.

I'm not sure how you are describing it as being like those other attractions...it IS more like how you originally understood it.

In all those other attractions (and I'm not sure about VOTLM) you wait in a line, and then you are brought into a secondary "waiting" area for a pre-show. RNRC does this as well...as does Test Track, Mission: Space, etc. at some level. The exception is Ellen, but only because there are never enough people waiting to get in to form a line. :)

What they tested last week was apparently roughly the same thing they did last December, except they were applying some lessons learned in December.

You still got a tag with a letter and number on it, like "B7". As did a whole lot of other people. When B7 is called, you get in the actual line to enter the attraction. If you don't show up in time - so sorry...

It's basically a deli take-a-number system. Go ahead and wander - but if you miss your call, you're out of luck.

They still had things to do - there was a DJ, some guitar hero setups, etc. I hear they increased the area this time though. They used some of the backlot area where "ESPN: The Weekend" stuff was done.

One thing I noticed that they changed...no estimated call times on the boards...probably too many complaints about inaccuracy...

I read the article about this too. Is something that would replace Fast Pass? I hope not. I like being able to go do other things while I'm waiting for my FP time, mingling around the ride area doesn't sound that much better than waiting in line. I understand they are going to have interactive things to do, but still...maybe I just don't really understand it though, how much mingling around time are we talking?

It (at least this point, Disney can change things) is only replacing the standby line.

In that respect it can only be an improvement. Would you rather be able to move around, do some things, sit down for a bit while waiting 90 minutes, or stand up, crowded, unable to move more than a few feet in any direction, for 90 minutes?

That assumes that it actually WORKS well.

I can't see having a dozen Guitar Hero/Rock Band stations being set up all day every day...they'd see more abuse than at Best Buy, and they get pretty beat up...

I like the idea of this. I think it will be especially good for families with kids. They will have something to do rather than just standing in line picking fights with their siblings. The only time I don't mind just standing in line is when there's some nice eye candy to enjoy! :thumbsup2

I suppose if I would ever wait 90 minutes to get on a ride, I'd rather be able to move around ect...except I wouldn't do either. 30 minutes is my max wait time without an FP and only for Soarin' or TSM and even then 30 mins. is pushing it.

I went over when they were testing this several months ago. I think the crowd enjoyed being able to move around, play the games, listen to the DJ. It was made very clear what group was loading. I hope they decide to use this idea.

I guess one advantage would be being able to use the bathroom while waiting.

Hopefully they will have places to sit. Otherwise milling about aimlessly in a crowd isn't that much of an improvement.

I am having trouble seeing this working better than what is there now. The idea of moving about and being able to go to the restrooms and such sounds good. I will have to experience this for myself. I do have my doubts though.

Exactly when you have a small child with a small bladder the bathroom aspects seem pretty nice.
